It's really not important what a team's record is when they score less than 3 runs... I mean you lose a lot when you don't score much, duh. The real question should be how many times do the Sox score 3 runs or less?

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 11:25 PM) Steak knives weren't designed to kill. Not the point. edit: and even if it was, it's irrelevant, because it's just as effective if I wanted it to be.

"At a time when Chicago’s homicide rate is rising by nearly 13 percent and children are being gunned down on city streets, Daley said the Supreme Court has “changed the rules” in a way that will make it far more difficult to protect law-abiding citizens." This statement is dripping with irony.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) No thx. All these women that have been deformed by plastic surgery look like drag queens. That's ok. Um, what? Nevermind just forget everything I typed above. Boobies?

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) Just pick Rose already, don't drag it out for 5 mins. God I HATE when they do that. They do it in the NFL draft too which is even worse because they get 10 minutes (or 15, I forget). If you know who you're picking there is no reason whatsoever to drag it out. -
I'd still hit it like the fist of an angry God. I don't care what you guys say.
-
She might not be "uber-hot" but you guys are full of s*** if you're telling me you wouldn't tap that.

It's refreshing to see Danks leave the game with the lead and the team actually wins.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) I am sorry if I offend anyone here, but I always worry a bit when Jenks comes in with a 1 or 2 run lead because he seems to fool around with oposing hitters too much. I mean he gives up the hit and maybe awalk and everyone is on the edge of their seat and I almost have a heart attack. I am always pulling for the guy though as he is really a good fellow. It could be worse, he could be Joe Borowski.

QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) Fair enough, I thought you were talking about holding calls and other calls from the line, because those are well deserved. I think the rule about late hits on Quarterbacks is a bit rediculous, but for the most part, I think the NFL has solid officiating. Holding calls can be ticky-tacky sometimes but I don't really complain about those as long as the refs are being consistent in the game. What really gets on my nerves are penalties for late hits and unnecessary roughness that aren't. For example you will have Mike Brown running full speed at a RB who is near the sideline, and the RB steps out of bounds, but Brown collides with him a foot out of bounds and he gets flagged for 15 yards as if there was any way he could stop. Then there are the times where a DB gets called for PI because they farted too close to a WR. Also, I always hated the fact that defensive players get called for the slightest incidental contact to a facemask but an offensive player could do the same thing and almost never does anything happen, but they finally made it a penalty this year. lol... yeah I could go on, I got plenty of gripes but those are the main ones.

QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) Are you serious? I happen to think the NFL has better officiating than the MLB. Have you ever seen Mike Carey officiate in a football game? He's great! The NFL hasn't been the same since the Tuck Rule, then there was the 2005 Ref Bowl debacle and such. There are good ref crews like Hochuli but there are some awful ones too that make some bizarre calls, and only this year did they finally put in some rules to give the defense some leeway because the bias in favor of offense was ridiculous.
-
Did I miss something? What was so funny?
-
QUOTE (Nokona @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) Since about 04 there has been just a steady decline in everything having to do with officiating. I no longer know where the strikezone is anymore. This also applies to the NFL.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 05:11 PM) "guns don't kill people, people kill people." kudos to SCOTUS for getting at least one opinion right this week. They are 1-3, that's a .333 average, actually that's pretty good.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) I am really starting to like this Danks kid. Floyd has 8 wins, but I have to believe that Danks is actually pitching better. We have a couple good kids from other organizations that are making it big time with the Sox. I hope Floyd can get back to being a consistent as a winner soon also Starting to like? I had a feeling about him since this time last year, even when his ERA ballooned. He was just missing one pitch and I had to wait and see how he handled it, looks outstanding now.

Danks with another QS, leaves with the lead. Typically the team hates him in these situations and actively work to sabotage him so we will see.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) I'm not trying to be a troll or anything. Just have a strong anti-gun belief system. There's really nothing else I can add to that. I respect all of your opinions on the matter. Who says you're being a troll? I don't find anything wrong with your opinion. Personally I wish we didn't have guns, but we do. It's a fact of life. I don't think banning guns from people who would otherwise obey the law does anything constructive.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) if what I said was not what you intended, then your statement was still pretty loaded. It might not have been worded the way I wanted it to be but I was implying that rather than voting ideologically, people vote for what's good for them (see my later post about welfare). -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) Tell that to the neighbor of the VA Tech gunman. So if guns are made illegal how are you so sure that someone still can't get a hold of a gun and go on a shooting spree?
-
QUOTE (TCQ @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) At no point did i say is the savior. Also id like for someone to make an argument as to why not to give him a chance to leadoff, other than sayin cabrera is doing well. Cabrera did not leadoff last year and he hit 300. I know Wise wont be able to keep it up all year most likely, but why not ride his current hot streak? As YASNY pointed out, essentially you just said "other than the fact that it's perfectly fine and the guy currently in that role isn't the problem, why shouldn't we change it?"
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) Gun crime is much higher than steak knife crime. I'm just saying, besides making it more convenient, I don't buy the argument that having a gun makes someone more prone to comitting a crime. If you want to kill someone you can do it with or without a gun.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) Because murderers were always at one point law-abiding citizens. If I wanted to I could murder someone with a steak knife.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) I'm not a big fan of the "we've always did it this way" excuse and that applies to many situations in life. That's not what I said. What is wanted and ideal is completely different from what's practical, or even possible.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) Just look at other Western countries that outlaw guns and their crime rates and compare them to ours. They've never had guns, either. Here in America guns are everywhere and always have been. That's just reality. It's like trying to turn an aircraft carrier around with 10 feet to maneuver.
