QUOTE (north side chi sox fan @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Is quality start based on runs or earned runs? I'm pretty sure earned runs... had Gavin gotten the 3rd out it would've counted as a QS. Oddly enough. -

QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) Hawk: AJ has "huge upside." "He's a guy who can hit 20-25 homeruns and hit .300 and drive in 80-90-100. He's a horse." DJ says, "I don't think he can hit .300 and hit for that much power." "Well, I've seen him for a long time. I know what he can do. It's up to him to do it." AJ hasn't hit .300 since 2003, and has never hit more than eighteen homeruns in a season, and he has never had eighty RBI. What kind of water is Harrelson drinking? He's lost it. He can hit for a high average, he can hit 20 homers, but he certainly can't do both. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) If they are playing a Chicago team. They are over .500 against the rest of the league. Ha, it looks like you're right. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) I like this...go to a meeting down 6-0, and return and it's tied! The Pirates really suck don't they? -

QUOTE (north side chi sox fan @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 03:35 PM) Put Gavin on pace for 18-20 wins! This isn't one of those cases where a pitcher pitched his ass off and got robbed of a W though. Gavin's line aside, he hasn't pitched that good today. He can be somewhat excused for allowing the hit after the error, but not the home run right after that. -

QUOTE (north side chi sox fan @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) Anyone think Gavin can pitch the 6th? 94 pitches, I would say no. -

QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) I've never understood the manner in which earned runs are assigned. In this case, the inning would have ended if it wasn't for that error, so whatever happens after the would-be 3rd out doesn't go against a pitcher's ERA. I guess technically if a pitcher gets 2 guys out, and an error is made on the 3rd batter, he could allow infinity runs and none would be earned. -
Holy crap those splits are staggering.

Usually this works the exact opposite, where our offense chips away a run and then whoever's pitching will give up a run in the following half-inning. -

Well, Ozuna does at least a little bit to atone. -

Holy s*** 6 runs, 0 of them earned. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 01:17 PM) I don't think they are immune from defimation, slander, and libel... I'm trying to recall if it's ever been done before.

Is it even possible to sue an elected gov't official like that? Not saying he shouldn't do it, he totally should.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 11:35 AM) Even with that...look what Lebron has done the last 2 years with a crappier supporting cast than TMac's. LeBron >>> TMac. That's not even fair to compare them like that.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 10:49 AM) There is zero difference between those three. They all do the same things. They are just portrayed very differently. I have seen both Carville and Axelrod get up and tell bold faced lies about anything and everything, and nothing ever gets said. Carville was the leader of some of the most vicious attacks during BOTH Clinton runs. They are all the same person. Carville is a tool.

This is just comical, keep it up guys. I'm bored.

Documents confirm U.S. hid detainees from Red Cross

I don't really think that was what FlaSoxx was getting at - it would be ludicrous to suggest that the things the terrorists do or believe are morally acceptable. That was more focused on the fact that we as Americans can't just act with impunity, and assume that no matter what we do it's automatically going to be morally superior by default just because we're Americans. We're supposed to be holding ourselves to a higher standard. Because, simply, we are better. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) Florida Rasmussen: McCain 47; Obama 39 That sounds a lot more realistic than the other polls I've seen.

Ok so I've read into this thing a little more and this to me smells like a crowd-pleaser and nothing more. The barrels of oil will only last... what, 5 years tops, and we're already at max refining capacity anyway. If it's a step towards energy independence, it's a tiny step.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) Well the answer is CANADA. Here is the link to this oil info. Below are the top 6 countries in that we import oil from in order. 1st: Canada 2nd: Saudi Arabia 3rd: Mexico 4th: Nigeria 5th: Venezuela 6th: Iraq P.S. Canada's oil production comes mainly from oil sands (tar sands) production. Their recent increased value in the Canadian currency is mainly a result of their oil production and exportation. This is why all the talk over renegotiating NAFTA, and the focus on NAFTA's negatives in general was BS.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) I'm not sure who the best veteran without a title is, but McGrady is eliminated from the discussion. The fact he's never won in the first round is one of the big running jokes in sports right now, and that is inexcuseable for somebody as talented as he is. It's not really been his fault though, as far as I know. It's not as if he's just personally bombed whenever his teams have made the playoffs. Take this year for example, Yao Ming is lost for the season again. wtf.

I completely agree. Toby was obviously held back by his injury last year, and nobody was sure that his shoulder was healthy yet. He said it was, we didn't really believe him, but obviously he was right. The guy's been just tearing it up offensively this year. Nice to see.

Fukudome over Dye is not a slam dunk. Fukudome's OPS+ is 118, Dye's is 119. Dye beats Fukudome in slugging, Fukudome beats Dye in OBP.
