  1. This is kinda getting out of hand.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) Like Jose yesterday, Javy's got nothin'. It's not really that. Tigers are straight working him. Something we're just not doing. Verlander's thrown about half the pitches Javy has.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) CQ is definitely due for an off day. Then hopefully he comes back home with renewed vigor and KILLS NL pitching. CQ has had about 5 off days recently. It happens though.
  4. That ball bounced right away from Crede's glove.
  5. QUOTE (Cowch @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) The 1.2MB? That hasn't worked for me all season, 800k's not much worse. Yeah. I'm kinda mad that I bought it
  6. It's just the premium signal I can't get... wtf
  7. Ugh mlb.tv just crapped out on me, FFS I've had it like 10 minutes.
  8. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 03:47 PM) Is it true Blago flies in on a personal jet everyday from his regular home out there somewhere (forget where exactly) to Springfield? I don't know if it's every day, but he does commute to and from Chicago an awful lot (on taxpayers' dimes), and he spends a lot of time working at home in Chicago.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Like I said, if Blago has a rubberstamp legislature, he would get stuff done too. I really doubt it. Blago is a tool. He doesn't get along with either the state Democrats OR Republicans.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) In Chicago it makes you a five term Mayor. Say what you want about Daley, and there is plenty to say, but he gets things done.
  11. I think Blagojevich might be the worst elected executive I've ever seen... it's saying something considering the guy he succeeded was actually convicted of political corruption.
  12. As long as Uribe is not starting, I'm ok with him being here.
  13. QUOTE (juddling @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) if these 'fixes' were in, and he was aware of them he should have said something back then...not after his butt is pinned to the wall. If he was in on it, and he was getting away with it, why in the hell would he do that?
  14. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) Except that he is not THE GOP. Calling him the GOP would be like calling DailyKos the Dems. I think what he's referring to is the fact that "the GOP" has done similar things at least twice already this election cycle and it's following a pattern, and it's generally understood there will be more of it between now and November. Also it's worth noting that this comes from lower-level GOP types and not from McCain or the party leadership.
  15. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Is Richar tradable now, or will Alexei be at SS next year? I think it would be silly, and borderline stupid to trade Richar right now.
  16. lol. It's totally in character for the stereotype of the GOP, really. The Dems use populist pandering to get votes, talk about taxing the rich, evil corporations etc. so people shouldn't act surprised when they do it. Likewise, the GOP uses fear to influence votes via whatever means (like this, or like saying "the terrorists win if a Democrat gets elected") or some other tactic like deliberately inflaming racial tensions (basically, Jesse Helms' political career). The exception to this is Hillary Clinton, who does all the above.
  17. I'm not sure what you're arguing about. Konerko really should've gone to the DL, I honestly have no idea why he was playing. Thome is a DL trip waiting to happen if you don't keep him fresh. I don't want to sit him, but if you think Crede's back isn't still a question mark, you're lying to yourself.
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 10:37 AM) I'm pretty sure Baltimore won't be in contention next month, and if that's the case, they'd have no interest in wasting a couple mil and any type of prospect for Uribe. Baltimore needs something of a stopgap at SS. Bynum is basically a backup infielder who is filling a void. Obviously we're not going to get anything anywhere near MLB-ready (that's just silly) but they would probably consider it.
  19. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 10:21 AM) rest is a very overrated concept in baseball. These guys want to play, and play everyday. Do they get tired? Sure. But to put them on a routine of sitting 1-2 times a week is stupid, IMO. They'll need a day off, but these are professional athletes. If they can't handle playing at least 150-155 games, then they shouldn't be getting paid millions of dollars. It's not stupid or overrated when you're talking about time on the DL or significantly diminished performance.
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) They might have been the only team willing to take Uribe. What other teams might want Uribe now? Baltimore
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 12:10 AM) Swisher is very easy to cheer for if you read his quotes and see his interviews on TV. Class act; gotta hope he gets that average up and builds on that two homer game. Early on, he had so many ohfers it just drove me crazy and made me want BA in the lineup. Actually whether Swisher is hitting or not, I still want BA in the lineup on a semi-regular basis and rotate the lineup around some to let Thome, Konerko, and maybe Dye some time off and keep them fresh. We see what happens when Dye loses his rhythm... for about a week, it isn't pretty.
  22. It's basically just campaign rhetoric. It's pretty transparent IMO, it doesn't take a genius to know that a Democratic president is going to raise taxes after a Republican president cuts them. And that's whether his spending proposals actually go through or not. Government isn't free.
  23. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) Yeah, I didn't get that one either. But when was Obama's citizenship brought up before? i remember people wondering/accusing him of being Muslim, but I don't recall anyone asking if he was born a citizen. I don't know. It does sound familiar though.
  24. It's really simple. War = mega ratings.
  25. I thought it was pretty laughable to suggest Obama changed his name from Mohammad (before anybody cared about the name) to Hussein (at the time when Saddam was public enemy #1).
