I still think the worry over Contreras was justified. I had nothing more than hope. Then again, I never thought his problems last year were related to anything physical. But I wasn't confident he could turn that switch in his head back to "on" again.

I would be willing to bet money that this question on the survey was phrased in such a way that it was impossible for a lot of people to convey their actual feelings or thoughts on the war. People who want the war to end don't feel that way because they are hoping we fail.

Yeah... the lowest common denominator in this country determines what happens in mass media. So in hip-hop music we just got over the southern rap phenomenon that's finally starting to die (but we still have some more of this "snap music" crap), for TV there is reality TV, for video games there's the avalanche of first-person shooters, and for the news there's personality-driven journalism. As long as people tune in, that's what we get.

I see where Alpha is going with it though. Tax rates are one thing, but taxing regular people on their carbon output for everyday activities would seem frivolous and people wouldn't go for it. In the other direction, tax incentives for installations of energy-friendly equipment, solar panels, etc. is a great idea and I'm glad the all levels of gov'ts are taking it seriously.

I don't think I really like that idea. Maybe if solar panels and wind generators were cheaper than they are now. Otherwise it's just another burden on the middle class.

Carbon pricing system? Is that like in Europe, where people have to pay penalties based on their carbon output?
