So would we solve some of our energy problems if we just made a wind farm and had Jim Thome and Ryan Howard swinging bats repeatedly? Throw in Juan Uribe for good measure and I bet that could provide power to an entire region of this country.

And there's your White Sox latenight /early morning winner !

QUOTE (WCSox @ May 11, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) Absolutely. This is also the year that Anderson needs to step up and show something against ML pitching, or he'll likely become trade fodder. So he needs at-bats. And if he's hitting and Swish ain't, all the more reason to put BA in the lineup. It's nice having too many outfielders for a change. -

QUOTE (WCSox @ May 11, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) I'm guessing that Ozzie may want Anderson in CF in some of these larger ballparks as well. It really doesn't make sense not to at least give him a look in those series. Swisher's a fine CF in small parks like ours but Anderson is $$$ and there's no downside to having him in the game as long as he's hitting. -
Yeah that inning probably has a completely different outcome if that ball lands 2 inches higher in his glove and sticks in the web. But it's kind of hard to fault him when he's running halfway across CF to make that play that isn't even in question for most CFs.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 11, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) One's giving us a better chance to win at the moment however. Hence why he's in the game. -

That would of course mean benching Swish. I mean I like to say Anderson is on the upswing and all and might actually come close to his ceiling, and Swish is slumping badly, but I'm just not ready to say that Anderson > Swish just yet. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 11, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) Sad, but totally true on what she believes... That is laugh-out-loud funny.

Feast or Famine White Sox Offense will Take Years to Fix

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 11, 2008 -> 02:46 AM) A couple walks, some extra base hits and everyone's happy -- right? "Feast or a famine." They are feasting after the famine last week. Some consistency would be nice. It feels inevitable it's going to happen again, although I still have confidence in Swisher and Cabrera to pick it up. Not so sure about Konerko and Thome, although Konerko's been doing better. -

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 11, 2008 -> 01:23 AM) Generally .... nothing! LOL I'd always figured he was thinking about making a run to Giordano's in Hyde Park after the game.

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 11, 2008 -> 01:16 AM) Yes, maybe ... but we know Juan can play 2nd very well. Switching them just might weaken our IF defense. It might strengthen it too, but we don't know if Cabrera can turn the DP from that side of the bag. That is an acquired skill in most cases. They just didn't know Uribe was going to see so much playing time, if I'm not mistaken Richar had already been penciled in as the starter before he got hurt. I know he takes a beating here but I do think Cabrera is a pretty smart ballplayer though for what it's worth and he could handle it. Again, not going out on a limb and saying they should go do it, just hypotheticals/armchair managing.

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:11 AM) Uribe has been hitting fairly well the last week or so. No hits tonight, but 2 walks. That's common for Uribe though. When he gets hot he is red-hot. Then when he cools off he becomes an automatic out for a while. Then he will get hot for another 10 days.

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:10 AM) Can Cabrera play 2nd? My line of thinking is if he can play SS he can definitely play 2nd since it's the same basic skill set. But he would need to have played there some in ST first. However, I just don't think they still thought they'd have Uribe on the team when they traded for Cabrera, and Uribe is just kind of at 2nd by default after an unexpected turn of events.

QUOTE (aprec32 @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:07 AM) If there was only a Designated Fielder position........................ There are times when I half-jokingly wondered if we could just DH for Uribe and let the pitcher hit.
-
QUOTE (YASNY @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:07 AM) Who'd play 2nd? Cabrera, if he isn't in your long-term plans Not necessarily saying they should just go out and switch Uribe and Cabrera, just that I think Uribe's the better fielding SS. I guess when Richar comes back this will all be a moot point.

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:05 AM) That throw to Home was the play of the game. Definitely one of the stranger plays I've seen but it was a hell of a heads-up play. It's the kind of thing that makes you wonder howcome Uribe isn't playing SS over Cabrera if he's going to be in the lineup.
-
I really like watching Uribe throw, he really has a cannon. I wonder if he's ever pitched before? Not as a professional, obviously.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:02 AM) Turn 2 and suffocate hope. sure thing

It's no longer a save situation, but that is fine.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 10, 2008 -> 10:42 PM) He is number 1. He's only been in office for 2 years though. It's kind of like a player's batting average after April. I just read the rest of the article and realized it actually mentions that: "While it's somewhat irrelevant to look at Obama's lifetime liberal rating since he only has two years under his congressional belt"

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 10, 2008 -> 11:32 PM) ya seriously what is Dotel doing on that throw omg omg omg wtf wtf wtf on noezzzzzzz f***
-
Jesus I just looked at the replay and that was a f***ing laser by Uribe. Seriously Dotel has to pull that lucky horseshoe out of his ass, lol
-
That was pure, pure luck.

It's pretty hard to get Ichiro out on a DP. I love me some Ichiro btw.

QUOTE (YASNY @ May 10, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) When a pitcher throws 96, you have be looking for heat with 2 strikes. And the pitcher is thinking the same thing.
