  1. I think that remark is one of his more out of touch remarks that we've heard in recent days. No. What emboldened our enemies and what empowered our competitors was his promise to fundamentally transform America from being a solvent, free, exceptional country into something we're not gonna recognize. Also, what has emboldened enemies is that he with doubling of our debt since he's been elected, putting us on a path towards bankruptcy, and then locking up pipelines and resources that will result in us being more reliant on foreign imports for energy, and then of course he, having left behind, his administration having left behind our brave men in Benghazi to be murdered, and then of course there's Syria, where he promised to bombSyria because in that civil war, Syria was going to bomb Syria, and then we never heard another word again about his threat to bomb in a foreign civil war, and then of course, most recently, Megyn, he, uh, using our military, those who would fight against our enemies. Our military. Our vets. Shutting down their memorials. And holding them hostage in terms of budget deals. Uh, threatening to withhold paychecks for our brave men and women. AS FOR ECONOMIC COMPETITORS! Corporate tax rate, the second highest in the industrialized world. Now that empowers our competitors.
  2. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 03:46 PM) probably the same 35,000 they moved to part time status back in May. My son included. Dude I forgot you were old.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 02:13 PM) In related news: Boehner also "assured" there'd be no government shutdown too so yeah
  4. I'm stealing this from Facebook. Ok, we all get together at recess to play kickball. We pick kickball because we all voted on it. The biggest majority of us chose that game over Double Dutch. However.....the jumprope kids are upset that we won't play the game they want. In order to satisfy the jumprope kids, we vote again. 42 times. The vote holds. Does this satisfy the jumprope kids??? Not at all. They ask the principal to throw out the vote and pick jumprope for them. The principal looks at the issues and says no. The jumprope kids tell all the other kids that playing kickball is evil and will kill you. Some of the Special Ed kids ACTUALLY buy that story. We'll call them the "Juicebox Party". They get angry because they don't understand how or why a vote works. They just know they didn't get their way. Finally, after trying everything they could think of, the jumprope kids set the school on fire and blame the kickball kids. This is how I explained the shutdown to a 10 year old. They think the jumprope kids are stupid. I agree.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) No it needs to be repeated over and over. We are only here because hardcore conservatives hate ObamaCare. That's it. In order to support what's happening right now, you have to not respect the democratic system, in pretty much the most literal sense
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) FWIW there have been multiple reports that if Boehner would allow a clean CR to come to the floor, it would pass easily. It would just severely piss off the hard liners and the primary voters. http://washingtonexaminer.com/how-30-house...article/2536611 lol, I wish I had finished reading the thread before my last post
  7. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 05:59 PM) Seriously, just pass the damn cr with a delay on Obamacare and then your shutdown is over. Then get your asses back into session and decide this thing NOW, but COMPROMISING, not saying you will do it my way only, clean, or i won't pass it. reid has had multiple chances to do it, and failed to do so. Both sides are playing politcs here, you choose to only vilify one. If Boehner put the clean CR the Senate passed (which sucks, btw but that's not the point) to a vote, it would pass relatively easily. But he won't do it. I don't know what his end game is. I don't know what how this represents anything remotely resembling a representative democracy, where a majority vote by elected representatives isn't good enough. Not even the phony democracy we pretend to have. I really wish we had a parliamentary style system so when the legislature gets this incompetent or stupid we could just s***can them all and start over.
  8. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) The budgets the House is passing are jokes. They might as well put "Obama must step down and be replaced by Romney" in the bills. It's not compromise to expect the Democrats to dump their entire platform of the past few years including things that they managed to pass through Congress. I walk up to you and punch you in the dick 6 times. You say "lostfan WTF stop!" I say okay, how about I just punch you in the dick 3 more times? It's a compromise. You say "no how about you don't do it all? What is wrong with you?" I tell everyone you're being unreasonable and you refuse to negotiate.
  9. I really gotta just scoff whenever I hear people talking about how this whole thing was never debated. I have to wonder where the hell they were for a year and a half... we tried having a debate and a bunch of angry people got up and started shouting and about the only semi-coherent idea I can ever remembering that resembled a suggestion for a solution was "tort reform." I have no clue what the GOP's idea for healthcare reform is because it doesn't exist... they kinda paid lip service to the idea of keeping the restricting of denying customers with pre-existing conditions but that's the point of the mandate, otherwise doing that by itself will f*** everything up.
  10. I kinda misspoke on my last post... I do know what my deductible is. There's different deductibles in the exchanges like everyone else's insurance
  11. I can't really speak for others but when I look at my prices during open enrollment, I see nothing about deductibles, it just says the monthly cost for my premium. I don't really see why this would or should be any different. Almost nobody knows the ACTUAL price of their health insurance. It's a lot more than they actually pay. Ideally we wouldn't make businesses pay this and all pay into the same system but that's communist or something
  12. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) The exchanges, which went online Tuesday morning, have been riddled with technical difficulties in states across the country. The administration has said that the glitches consumers are encountering will be ironed out by Tuesday afternoon. If you believe this I have some Detroit municipal debt to sell you at par. GMAFB... This is why what the Republicans are doing is assinine. Let this get implemented and let it fail from its own weight. So are you sure this doesn't have anything to do with millions of people trying to access the website at the same time because they're trying to sign up???
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) Is this directed at me? I actually didn't read all the comments in the thread, so no. That was a general gripe that's been irritating me all day.
  14. I wish people understood what a f***ing "rate" was when they said "murder rate"
  15. Alex Smith's risk-free game is boring, but it's effective. His teams have won a lot of games the past 3 years with that.
  16. It isn't Luck that makes people doubt the Colts, their defense just blows. They do have a pretty wack OL though.
  17. The AFC is a joke, the Colts probably get in the playoffs by default.
  18. You know what? I think this is actually the best we can do. This is what we've collectively decided we want and that we're okay with it. We've repeatedly rejected even the smallest, most token attempts to do anything about it in all the previous incidents, we'll have the same exact arguments and decide we won't do anything about this either. There WILL be another event like this and these are NOT rare events, even if we like to pretend they are sometimes. This is how it's going to be. Garbage in, garbage out. It is what it is.
  19. I think I missed the meeting where everyone declared Trent Richardson and his 3.5 ypc as a top 5 running back in the NFL that you build a franchise around.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Sep 16, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) Why not just trade Bennett and make Wilson active? He can't be much worse. Wilson would get obliterated vs. press coverage. The idea is to bring him along slowly and put him on a NFL nutrition/workout regimen.
  21. This is the most surreal, bizarre headline I've ever seen as a Bears fan Cutler has to adjust to lack of pressure
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 18, 2013 -> 12:00 PM) @AdamSchefter Broncos OT Ryan Clady now expected to undergo season-ending surgery. @SI_DougFarrar In 1,115 snaps last year Ryan Clady allowed one sack. One. That's how good he is. Huge blow Peyton Manning could play in the NBA and that team would still make the NFL playoffs.
  23. There's another horses*** call. He was out by like a foot and a half.
  24. From where I'm sitting at the stadium that looked like the tag wasn't even close.
