  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 09:42 PM) i thought he was saying he didnt get why oakland traded him since he a was a billy beane moneyball type player, but i could be mistaken... I heard the end of it, that's what it sounded like he said. However, Joe Morgan is a horrible announcer and it would not surprise me to hear him say something like that.
  2. I think I heard Joe Morgan say he didn't understand why the Sox went and got Swisher. lol, typical.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) Crede is really looking bad. Double, single and Rbi last night, homer tonight. Awful. AJ and Dye's averages over .300 and OPS over .900 are kid of hard to look at without averting your eyes as well
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) No. Every hitter should hit .400 or they suck. They could try not having to struggle to stay over .200, and completely disappearing for extended periods of time too.
  5. Why is Ozzie just leaving Javy out there to die? His outing wasn't quality but it really wasn't that bad until just now.
  6. QUOTE (frankie5angels @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) I think you need some speed on a team, for when you go in a slump, you can bunt your way on and beat out some infiled hits. It's also nice when you have runners on 1st and 2nd to see the guy on 2nd score on a single, instead of just having the bases loaded.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) Our offense better wake up any second now. good call... ...that will be all for the evening though.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) Yes, but diving the way he did probably allowed the 2nd run to score. But no, he couldn't have caught it. The fact that he let the ball loose instead of trapping it, yeah.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) Ugh, not good by Swisher. Our pitchers just can't get the 3rd out. Can't really blame Swisher for that, the ball was slicing sharply away from him. Anderson wouldn't have gotten to that either.
  10. I could barely hear it but it sounded like he was talking about McCain on the economy, how is it negative campaigning if he is talking directly about the issues and using it as reasons not to vote for McCain (especially when the first half is a quote from him saying he wants to talk about the issues, and then the next clip is him doing that)? Is it negative if McCain says "Obama's going to raise taxes"? That's kind of the whole point of campaigning, I don't see any hypocrisy. (Or, am I supposed to just let that go unchallenged in this thread? )
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) (And despite being the nominee, he only took 72% of the vote in that state, FWIW). Ron Paul supporters are hardcore.
  12. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) Now why the f*** did you not stay with the fastball the whole inning....I'm boggled Huh? He was throwing fastballs. They were like a foot off the outside corner though, including that weak RBI single Cabrera shouldn't have swung at.
  13. Javy not getting out ahead of hitters in the 2nd. Although that bullet right back to him was just kind of bad luck.
  14. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) Uribe would've made that catch. To be fair so does Cabrera usually. He got his glove on the ball, so it was an error. He should've had it and he knows it.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) Exactly, I actually think Jeter is a solid SS also. Cabrera > Jeter. Jeter has a slick glove and a decent arm, but he makes sweet diving catches that make ESPN highlights other SS's would make routinely by just jogging in front of. However, his Hall of Fame bat makes up for any defensive deficiencies he has.
  16. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:20 PM) I actually thought Uribe deserved the GG last year. OC is still a great SS Fathom, I don't know why you think he's bad. He isn't bad at all. He just isn't as good as everybody makes him out to be. Maybe it's just because Uribe really was that good of a SS. edit: And Cabrera just makes my point for me.
  17. hahahaha infield single for Thome, how often does that happen?
  18. lol fathom what's even worse is that Morgan spent like 30 seconds talking about how good a SS Cabrera is, then in that context said "here's Derek Jeter, a Gold Glover in his own right" Multiple sabermetrics point to how Jeter is a below average defender. Morgan doesn't believe in any of that though.
  19. I hate it when Derek Jeter is referred to as a Gold Glover.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) Early reports are that Obama outspent Clinton something like 3-1 in PA, and STILL lost by almost 10 points. Or, that could be seen as he cut significantly into a deficit where he was once down by over 20 points in a state where the demographics don't favor him... depends on how you want to look at it. Every state where Obama campaigns directly against Clinton, he always goes up, she always goes down, regardless of whether he wins or loses.
  21. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) When the weather heats up and it starts to get nice out, more idiots and low-lives come out. If you think it's bad now, it will probably be even worse when it gets really nice out.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) I'm typically the last person to stick up for GWB but what power does a president really have with regards to the price of oil? Isn't it all about supply and demand? The weakening dollar and people investing in oil futures plays a part in it too.
  23. QUOTE (NUKE @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 06:01 PM) I think the 1st thing the new President should do is strip all subsidies from the big oil firms and put the proceeds toward a viable alternative to oil. This dependence on foreign oil has got to end someplace. The oil companies' argument is something to the effect of "we need to use those subsidies to invest in infrastructure" or something like that. I don't remember what the exact argument was, it was actually pretty logical but the American public is not really trying to hear that right now. I kind of feel like a hypocrite whenever I criticize Big Oil because I own about 40-ish shares of BP
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) Also keep in mind, every time the White Sox lose, it can be traced back to Juan Uribe. Ah, so you are finally coming around.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) Personally I don't either, but then why is GWB villified for manufacturing job losses during the last 7 years? I'd at least like to see some consistancy. There is consistency, just not the ideal kind you're talking about (for the record, the Democrat-controlled Congress has low approval ratings too). IMO the president is like the quarterback of the US, they get way too much credit for things going right and way too much blame for things going wrong. So if the country is doing great, everybody will give the president credit, or at least if he's not doing so great they won't go out of their way to criticize him as long as everything is looking up. If the country is in bad shape everybody will jump all over the president and blame him, even if he's not the reason.
