Buehrle (0-0) vs. Verlander (0-0)- KEEP IT UP!!
lostfan replied to TitoMB345's topic in 2008 Season in Review
Holy s*** Konerko is slow... that is the 3rd time that's happened this year, with a long double from Dye and Konerko has to pull up at 3rd. -

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) They are ALL so much better when they dont do that. It just seems the most exaggerated with AJ. Usually I find myself the most pissed off at him when he does it with RISP. He's been $$$ this past week because he is just swinging at the pitches they give him instead of trying to cash in on every pitch. -

What is up with AJ and that uppercut swing? He is SO much better when he doesn't do that. -

QUOTE(JFields27 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Sure, use that as an excuse. if you want to 'stick up' for Crede, then I'll 'stick up' for Fields This is pretty much why I am skimming over entire pages in this thread too. -

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) Holy Hell, seriously?? Thats awful My first thought is that he's suffering from Brian Anderson syndrome... I'd see where he's at in another month or so before I started to worry. -

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to give this thread a rest for about 30 minutes to allow the Crede-Fields BS to calm down... -

There must have been a picture of a cheeseburger on that ball. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) Those were the WORST fundamentals I have EVER seen on a ground ball ever. The fielding of it was tough, but the delivery to first was unacceptable. -

Ugh, Cabrera swinging on the first pitch and a weak groundout. Inning over. -

How does Verlander walk Uribe on 5 pitches... just throw him 3 straight high fastballs, of all major league pitchers I expect Verlander to know this. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) Nice sequence there by Verlander. Yeah that was a duel, and Verlander won convincingly. -

QUOTE(kjshoe04 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) Good inning for Mark. Let's put up a crooked number here. Or at least take some pitches so we can get to that bullpen. I salivate thinking about that terrible bullpen. -

That fly to deep right made me cringe. 2 outs and what, like 3 pitches? -

QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) Pudge, in the couple of games last year that he led-off, actually took some pitches. I was amazed. I didn't think he had it in him.. Pudge really makes me laugh... I was watching a Tiger game last year in around late August where he had a full count and swung at ball 4 and grounded out on what would've been his 6th walk of the year. -
I would not be put off at all by Richar's .230 average. He showed me enough at the plate to convince me he can eventually adjust to MLB pitching. He had a OPS of .695 which to me is respectable for a rookie, drew a fair number of walks, and didn't strike out a ton. It's just a matter of getting at-bats for him IMO.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) He's decent, but his best spot would be LF. I would say so far he's average-slightly (very slightly) above. His routes are good, but his reads aren't as good. He's made all the plays that he's suppossed to though, so that makes him automatically better then both Owens and Mackowiak. I'm curious to know exactly how many plays in CF Owens was supposed to make that he didn't. His FPCT was .991, obviously that isn't the end-all, be-all stat but it doesn't do much to support your argument that makes it sound like he is the worst CF in the AL, with an erratic glove and no range. He even had an outfield assist, not sure how that happened, he must've been throwing out Paul Konerko. also: while looking at the stats I noticed that Owens played one game in RF... ROFL that is hilarious.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 06:18 PM) Uribe still has a terrible approach to the plate. He has that open stance, and he is trying to pull everything, but his bat is soooo very slow he can't. Why oh why didn't we let whoever claim him have him??? Uribe's problem isn't so much bat speed, it's the fact that he will swing at anything that's within a foot and a half of the strike zone. When he does make contact it tends to be either a deep shot to the gap, or it doesn't stay in the park. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 06:24 PM) Well, if Alexei can hit a fastball, here's his shot. I still don't like it either. I actually hate it. Absolutely nothing against Ramirez but he has no business out there at this point in time with far superior/more polished players needing to get ABs. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) on that play with Erstad, there was pretty much no running involved. He looked up and the ball was gone. It was just plain bad luck. Other than that I thought he actually played a pretty decent CF for us. My biggest gripe with him is that he put up mediocre offensive numbers that I'm sure Anderson could've at the very least equaled (his OPS was damn near the same as Anderson's rookie year), and by going to the DL - which even a moron could've predicted would've happened if they were told he'd be the everyday CF.

Would today be a good day to start Brian Anderson?

Plus, our utility players are better than they have been in the past so it won't be painful to watch. With the exception of Hall, who sucks, and Ozuna who is firmly established as a bench guy, a case could be made for many of our backups to be starting at any given point. You know who never really had a fair shot on this team through no fault of his own or the organization? Ross Gload. -
lol, poor Erstad... he sucked, but I couldn't get mad at him for that. He just plain couldn't see the ball in the lights. That could happen to anyone.
