  1. I'm not sure that is the same thing as S-OX, 2k5 probably knows better than me. That loophole got added in during the Clinton years and was supposed to be a compromise on corporate tax rates, but the performance benchmarks are laughably easy to get around.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 07:37 AM) sarbanes oxley forces corporations to overpay executives? performance incentive loophole where the CEO's bonus is tax-deductible. Ripoff of taxpayers, the corporation's employees, and their shareholders all at once
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 12:19 AM) Taking out the cash it's not debatable at all. The savings is real, that's a big part of it
  4. What do the Rangers want with Paulie? Do they have a time machine? Fountain of Youth? Can we use the Fountain of Youth on Jordan, Frank, Crede, Dye, Urlacher, Mike Brown, etc.?
  5. Obama is telling the GOP to lay out their jobs plan: http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entr...-your-jobs-plan This *is* their jobs plan though. Repeal Obamacare, build Keystone XL, and cut taxes some more, unemployment will fall to 2.5% by the 2nd quarter of 2015 and the deficit will turn into a $200 billion surplus.
  6. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) Just to recap: 1st play of 1st practice: Cutler interception 1st play of 2nd practice: Cutler interception 1st play of 3rd practice: Cutler incomplete pass #Progress We gotta stop pretending training camp means anything.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:39 PM) Cutler is the only one I would consider for a multi year extension. Peanut is just about done. People have been saying this about Peanut for like 5 years now. Last year was probably the best season of his career and the year before that was probably the second best.
  8. I have Verizon's Actiontec router right now using that as a modem, and I only use that for the internet access and to use mobile apps for FIOS, everything else I use the Netgear AC router for. Verizon is selling another upgraded router that has wireless N and I'm debating upgrading it.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) Which is just f***ing sad. The dude was found not guilty. There is more love in this country for the boston bomber than George Zimmerman. Well that's just a completely hyperbolic statement.
  10. I don't really mind him believing that even if it's not true.
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 12:05 AM) Wow. if any conservative posted anything even remotely as crazy as that as evidence for ANYTHING, you would be all over it like flies on s***. "Officer Patrick Rehder’s cell phone records reveal a text or call to George Zimmerman right after the 5:47 PM crash was called in". OK, how did this site supposedly get these records, and where ARE they? OMG, the cop supported Zimmerman thru the trial, and hates welfare cheats, he MUST be racist. And of course the family doesn't want to praise Zimmerman, at least publicly. Heaven forbid some racist asshat sees that and tried to harass them as well for making George look good. And what the f*** is up with this: "We still need the public’s help in identifying the names of the six female jurors, especially B37. A lot of curious readers out there would like to see what they look like. So if you know that your neighbor was one of them, send their name & pic in for a large reward" Seriously? They want the jurors to get threats as well? f***ing crazies. Get the info at least from ABC or Huffpo. Name a source, show phone records or you are just making s*** up. Yeah the website did kinda look like the equivalent of an Alex Jones conspiracy theory website when I saw it. That doesn't mean it's not still... um weird I guess that this story comes out a few days after the verdict.
  12. I saw a tweet from a girl from New York (normally she's pretty knowledgeable about sports) that said "I think the Bears woes on OL have to do with the fact that they just don't like Cutler." I had to let her know that was the dumbest tweet she's ever written
  13. Ugh, Hub Arkush If Julius Peppers had 17 sacks this season he'd start talking about how that means Shea McClellin failed to develop and couldn't take some of the reps. If Shea himself had 10, he'd say the Bears made a huge mistake in using the franchise tag on Melton. Michael C. Wright is a good one esp. for a non-Bears fan
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) They have the same technology built into Samsung TV's and the PS3, at least for Youtube. It's really cool and works flawlessly. For $35 bucks, this probably kills a lot of the "smart TV" mark-up. I have a Vizio and it came with several apps like that, but not sure of the difference
  15. Google Chromecast. Looks sweet. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-media-rece...7-35823617.html
  16. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 11:42 PM) BREAKING NEWS: Derrick Rose announces he will be the best player in the NBA. Best active player? He's retired.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) Tens of thousands? Try "100 million". That's the article. I couldn't remember the time period so I just chose a big number and rolled with that. lol leave it to the earth scientist to correct me. That, and the "nutrients" I was referring to were "plankton," I remember this now
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) I think they will be able to void his contract. It might take a while and some time in court, but I think it will happen. When Colorado voided Denny Nagles contract years back, this what they based it on... section 7 (b) (1) of the Uniform Player Contract, which states the team can terminate the contract if a player shall "fail, refuse or neglect to conform his personal conduct to the standards of good citizenship and good sportsmanship or to keep himself in first-class physical condition." A-Rod is scum, but this is a blood issue with the player's union and I think the Yankees are digging a hole here making that more difficult. They regret bidding against themeslves giving them 10 years at age 31 at the cost of the GDP of a small African nation, and now they want out.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) Iowa and Illinois want some recognition Corn n soybeans > you I read that in an article last year but of course I have no clue where to find it now. It's surprising how many direct descendants of slaves still live in the same place even after periods of major migration.
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) How can this doctor be allowed to speak publicly about his patient's health? A-Rod probably gave him permission b/c the Yankees are making up phony injuries trying to keep him from playing, and pushing the MLB to ban him/void his contract. They're going to lose.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) he is about to strain his dollarusmaximus. Cashman is totally blowing this right now
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) Jack McDowell anyone else notice that the vast majority of juicers have been Scott Boras clients? Look it up. Those we KNOW and those we all suspect (ie know) Boras's clients tended to be the best players, I think this is a "causation is not correlation" thing. It's just that damn near everyone was busted juicing.
  23. Yankees said A-Rod was not playing because he's hurt, but A-Rod's doctor says he's got no injury. s*** is about to hit the fan.
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) Looks a lot like maps of black population density Not that racism would have anything to do with income inequality Those are the most fertile areas of the country. You can actually go all the way back to tens of thousands of years ago, to where nutrients settled into the soil on this continent. So that's where the heaviest concentration of slaves were.
