QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:41 AM) So after spending last night playing around with iOS7, it's a lot more consistent in how things look/feel/work. Where iOS6 became more of a collection of added icons/ideas over time, iOS7 takes all of those ideas (and a few new ones from WM8, Android and WebOS), and updates the way they look and their implementations so they feel much more consistent across the board. I have to find out more about the new APIs they opened, as based on the fact they've now opened a game controller API, which would allow addon hardware to turn the device into a full on gamepad, it seems as if Apple is loosening it's rules a bit when it comes to what can interact with iOS, which is a good thing. A few other thoughts on the state of the tech industry: As a long time XBOX user, having been a beta tester of the original XBOX Live, and a 360 owner, I have to say I'm disappointed in the X-Box One, or the XBone, for short. It's too expensive (500$ retail), the game fiasco where you don't own games is annoying, etc. So it's looking like Sony has won me as a customer for the PS4. Sorry, Microsoft...but we must part ways in the console business after more than a decade together. I was reading all the tidbits from that presser and I was thinking "god, all this s*** they're saying is new has been standard ?android features for like 2 years but they're talking like its a revelation" Edit: you guys have already talked about this, silly me

QUOTE (Jake @ May 28, 2013 -> 06:52 PM) I'm about to bite on the HTC One. Anything I should be reconsidering/waiting for before I go ahead and purchase? I love this phone, one complaint about it is the stock keyboard blows fat cock. It can't tell when my thumb is on u, I, or o, and sometimes when I look down and make SURE to see the key I want is selected, it actually changes it. I ditched it and used swift key instead.

I'm a Xbox guy but Microsoft hasn't s*** the bed this hard since the Windows ME disaster. Very disappointing. I've got no qualms about jumping ship back to Sony if they can't get their s*** together. Now, that said, I see right through what Sony is doing - they're letting Microsoft take the PR hit on the DRM thing. It's amusing to me that yesterday they took that standing O and they're acting all holy about it, like they never thought about trying to curb the used game market. They miss that revenue just like Microsoft does, they just won't want to be the first ones to jump. Example: Sony (and the fanboys) have been saying for years their multiplayer is free and touting it as an advantage over the 360... Now they have the chance to charge and guess what they're doing?

QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) You've gotta be s***ting me. I saw that he seemed unenthusiastic reporting earlier, making it sound okay that some guys would be uncomfortable in the shower. A dude I was in the Army with described being in the shower with guys to me: "It's even more awkward for me than I think it is for them, I'm trying to get out of there before I get a hard-on"

I let myself get dragged into a Tebow debate on Twitter. I am a failure.

I don't wanna hear s*** Mike Wilbon or any other media figure has to say, or anyone else... I'm busy watching this team win a playoff series. If and when he decides to join the party, that's great, and he will become relevant. I stopped worrying about what he was doing or whether he was ever going to show up about a month ago. Much easier that way.

I see what you did there

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) Losing Hinrich is a huge huge blow. Watching Robinson try to defend D-Will is going to be painful.

I don't want to talk about Rose right now, none of what's happening right now has anything to do with him

The Bears haven't had a good OL since 2006. Emery was definitely not playing around this year trying to upgrade it, he did a single-year massive infusion of talent that Angelo should have done but neglected to do for 5 straight years. It will barely have any resemblance to last year. LT: Jermon Bushrod LG: Kyle Long C: Roberto Garza (hopefully his last year) RG: Matt Slauson or Gabe Carimi (this was the single non-problem area before Louis got hurt) RT: J'Marcus Webb (who while never a great player, was nowhere near as bad as people made him out to be, the whipping boy was actually a pretty average LT with awful guards and Garza to his right) Plus, now there is a real live TE to help ease pressure on the pass rush, along with a new offensive system designed to get the ball out of the QB's hand quickly so they won't need to hold blocks as long. This is miles better than Tice's remedial "max protect throw to Marshall" nonsense.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 09:11 AM) I really hope he signs with the Bears. Could use another H-back

Marquess Wilson is a steal. Would've been a first day pick if not for his discipline problems, but in the 7th round you really don't give a s*** about that. Nicely done by Emery to trade back into the 7th to take a flyer on him while still getting good value out of the pick. Emery went need-focused with the first 2 picks but I think he did a great job landing talent later in the draft. Obviously we don't know how this will work out, but we'll see.
-
Ok I've done some reading and asking around, I don't think I mind this pick that much. Bostic is a converted safety who is athletic and fast (4.5), hits very hard, and the knock on him is that he has trouble getting off blocks. That profile sounds... Vaguely familiar.
-
Brown would've been the better pick, I don't really like the Bostic pick. The Patriots passed on him too but then the Ravens (who draft very well) traded up to get him.
-
yesssss finally Packers have to pay what he's actually worth and not that absurd discount they were getting muhahahahaha.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 04:47 PM) Or gold gloves in general. Right, with Jeter being Exhibit A. The common refrain here is "the players and coaches know better than any numbers geek!" So you're telling me everyone who has a vote in the process watches every eligible player field like 700 times every year? GTFOH
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) Im not suggesting that he would be given a spot. Im suggesting that after watching the 2 players play, I believe that the coaching staff would come to the determination that Eifert > Bennett, and I would hope that they would start the best player. Just like if they determine that Long > Bushrod that they would start Long. Well I can't say you're wrong seeing as how Seattle started Russell Wilson over whatshisnamethaticantrememberandwillrememberassoonasihitpost.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) This is what I think. How many times does it occur the non saber guys think a guy is great and the saber guys say he sucks and vice versa? Derek Jeter's defense

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) This draft had Eifert and Ertz, who were considered 2 of the better TE prospects in the last few years. Well I think Eifert is better than Bennett, so Eifert would be the starter. The good thing is, these posts will be here next year, I have no problem standing by my opinions. Highly unlikely unless he was something like a top 10 pick (in which case the Bears wouldn't have signed him) Even Urlacher wasn't given a starting spot right away, he had to show he belonged there to stay.

Emery introducing Long said "man, I'm glad you gave up that baseball thing" lol
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) Maybe, Id have said that Eifert added more because he would help the OL and passing game. So that is 2 birds with 1 stone, and likely would start from day 1. Jefferies, Eifert, Bennett, Marshall That is a nice 2te/2wr set that gives you a ton of flexibility. Way more than getting a lineman who may never start. Just personal preference. But so does Long - actually the running game b/c the interior blocking last year was pathetic. If Long isn't going to have immediate impact and has to get technique down, a rookie 2nd string TE who plays in specific formations isn't going to either.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) FWIW Angelo did this for a living, too. Angelo did a pretty respectable job (IMO) until Lovie got involved in the process. That was 2007 and not coincidentally 2007 was the worst draft of Angelo's career. But it was largely Angelo who drafted the Super Bowl defense, found Hester, etc. and hard as it might be to visualize now, at one point the Bears had a decent OL.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) Strike that. Reverse it. I don't know how I thought 2 comes before 1. I'm an idiot.

I could have summarized my post by saying Long adds more to the team, right now, as a guard, than Eifert adds to them as a TE (Bennett) or Floyd (Melton, Paea)
