I don't know why some of you guys are pooh-poohing this like "oh whatever, it's just a map." Speak for yourself, I use maps on my phone all the time. I'm typing this comment from an iPad... It's not some kind of Applefreude, I actually care about mapping apps I can use.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) I get the feeling a lot of Android users assume the maps application Google had on iOS was the same one they have on Android, when it was basically maps.google.com in an app, with limited functionality and no turn by turn. When I originally made my post a couple days ago I didn't really think about it since I've never actually used google maps on iOS outside my house. Google's android version is way better. After thinking about this I get it now. Google didn't let those features come to iOS, and it forced Apple's hand. In order to have some kind of autonomy and make up the ground, they had to make their own version. Problem is that google has a much more mature product and apple is starting from scratch.

I don't know which company decided to take Google maps off iOS, but regardless of whether Apple or Google did it, it was a bad decision. People are trying to downplay the significance, but really maps are a pretty core smartphone function, it's one of the main things people use. For Apple to downgrade from Google's clearly superior product to some inferior proprietary version isn't winning. The majority of iPhone users won't give a s*** who makes the map, just as long as it works. Google, on the other hand, loses that large data bank of iPhone users to keep their maps up to the standard they've been keeping. Lose-lose.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) Hmm. I've never had that happen to me on Android but a good head's up nonetheless. I downloaded a malware app one time on accident somehow when I first got my phone, it was some battery monitoring thing and I thought it was actually some kind of system warning because I wasn't used to HTC Sense yet. It made popups in my browser or something and I did a factory reset (I hadn't put anything on the phone yet). But I think that's kind of rare, that was a couple of years ago and I think Google's gotten hip to it.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 04:21 PM) I like the turn by turn feature. That is why I hated google maps and the fact that I will now have that, which I can play through my cars radio, is huge. ?? I don't follow... Google maps has turn by turn navigation already and has for a while now.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Tax credits as a "social program" is bulls***. You're actively doing something for the benefit of society (owning a home, having a kid, etc) to get those credits. lol. I don't think you realized that you've effectively endorsed liberalism with this post

I'm starting to get sick of Hester. There. I said it.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) More clueless refs in NO After about 2 or 3 hours they finally made the right call on a very obvious play.

The 49ers didn't get just beat today, they got dominated

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) Can we end the Hester package project? please? NOW.
-
WHY THE f*** IS HESTER STILL PLAYING OFFENSE You have twin towers at WR and you run an end zone fade route to Hester? The f***? Cutler gets a perfect throw and it sails right thru Hester's hands.

This offense just isn't ready for competition yet.

Paea is just abusing Ojinnaka today, total mismatch

Well, at least Jake Peavy yells at himself after he s***s the bed.

I actually had to argue this on Facebook with a dude on someone's status about it. He said "the Dems control Congress" and I went into how the Republicans wrote it and all 53 Dems voted for it. Then someone else followed up backing up what I said and dude responded again saying "both sides are to blame." Dude. How?

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 06:57 AM) While, I too, am sick of s*** like this...let's not pretend it would have been passed if the tables were turned in the same exact situation. This is, unfortunately, what the political landscape has become in this country. The real problem, LF, is that we've gotten older and see/understand this bulls*** now...but it's always been going on. Maybe, but there's not really a total equivalence between how the Dems and Republicans operate. The filibuster was never used like this before until 2009. Cue Balta to bring up charts and graphs showing this

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) You must hate political correctness then... I have never offered any pretense or apology for being an asshole. I'm a pompous dick.
-
I'm not surprised, I didn't expect the Sox to... how does this work with comp picks?
-
"I really hate political correctness" generally translates to "I really wish there weren't such consequences for being an unapologetic asshole." I think I'd respect people's complaints about it more if they just said that instead.

Speaking of the Republicans not being able to pass s***, yesterday they killed a veterans' jobs bill (veterans have a higher unemployment rate than the average) that 4 Republicans actually wrote. Dems said "hey this is good s***! we'll all vote for it too!" Republicans filibustered their own f***ing bill (5 of them sensibly voted for it, to their credit, but couldn't break the filibuster). Including the 4 people who wrote it. Why did they do that, you ask? Well, the election is in 6 weeks, Obama would look pretty good. They made up some bulls*** reason as to why they couldn't pay for it and didn't want to add debt but this has never stopped them from any defense project, ever, and certainly didn't stop them from voting for the war they sent these veterans to. f*** them!

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) I've had it mailed and they give you a number to call for activation. It's very easy to set it up. Same here. My download time was about 10 minutes because I plugged it into my laptop with the USB charger. I know someone who updated their iPad over WiFi and said it took an hour. It's cool to do it over the air, but it's much slower. There's a much better YouTube app made by google that's free. When I search for it in the app store I see the iPhone version but nothing for the iPad version.
-
I know why *I* am voting for and why, and I made up my mind months ago. I don't really care about other people's peripheral reasons, or comparisons/false equivalencies of Obama and Romney, frankly.

So I thought the iPad 2 was getting Siri but instead I didn't get s***, and they took YouTube away. But I got a clock app!
