  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) This is silly. +1 Ill get back to you in about 5 years and let you know what I think about those team's draft classes.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) Law is a smarmy ass to anyone and everyone. Almost every fanbase thinks he is "anti-their team." You see it all over his Twitter. I don't see any reason to think he's biased. He's just an ass, but that's okay. He really is a piece of crap. I read an ESPN article of his once and in the comments someone went after his opinions. He ended up getting into a long argument with the poster and actually made several personal attacks on the guy just because he questioned his opinion. He was about as professional as a 6th grader and got flamed pretty unmercifully by the other commenters for being so immature to attack a reader for voicing his opinion. If you want to be a professional writer you better have a little bit thicker skin than that.
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) The Sox could have gotten Gerrit Cole at 47th and Law would find a fault in the pick. We could have gotten Cole at 47 at this board would flame him and our front office.
  4. Charlotte http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/gameday...lhvaaa_chraaa_1 Birmingham http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/gameday...biraax_jaxaax_1 Winston Salem http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Kannapolis http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb
  5. This is nothing we all haven't known for several years now but it's good to see him get some props from people outside Chicago. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/new...mod_mlb_xxx_xxx Its insider only but in a quick paraphrase it says that Alexei is one of the top 3-4 SS in the entire league and nobody seems to notice. He has a higher UZR than even the defensive specialist shortstops like Andrus and can also hit the hell out of the ball.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) Marrero is 4/4 with 2 HR, 3 RBI, BB. Now hitting .337. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) Promote his ass. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) Yeah, but where are you going to play him. Gallagher is having a damn fine season as well for the Knights. I've been keeping an eye on him for a while now, he's clearly deserving of a promotion to AAA, I say put Gallagher on the bench if need be. He's hitting well but has little power and is nowhere near the prospect Marrero is. Marrero has good pop in his bat and has some speed, he also has played RF and LF in the past. Its time to see if he's got the goods or not.

  8. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) but he was born in London! A limey pitcher, now I've heard it all!
  9. IIRC we offered Maggs a multi-year deal that would pay him in the range of about 15 million per season. He just didn't want to come back to the Sox, plain and simple. I say f*** em.
  10. Birmingham http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Winston Salem http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 27, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) Really? A player that has posted an OPS above .850 nine of his ten pro years and above .880 seven of those isn't worth the 23rd pick? This isn't football or basketball. These picks are less than 50% to make the Majors. thank you for the voice of reason.
  12. Charlotte off Bham http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/gameday...biraax_cmcaax_1 Former Sox farmhand David Cook is back from the dead and playing for Carolina now. W-S http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Kannapolis http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb
  13. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 22, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) That's what I've been saying all along. Jr. is the slowest runner on the team as well. Is he really that slow, I was operating under the presumption that he was a "special athlete" as we've been told about him and that's why he was playing, hoping that everything would click for him at some point. If he really isn't anything special in the athlete column then it's time to kick him to the curb or at least bottom of the lineup. On another note, why is Marrero still in AA, nothing left for him to prove there, maybe he could turn into a lefty off the bench for us if we have some injury issues later in the season, its time to see what he can do, watching him kill AA pitching does nothing for him or us in the long run.
  14. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Just above average. And, in typical Jacksonville fashion, they feature a lot of old retreads who are probably slow. makes sense, J ville probably has a retard 3B coach too.
  15. Justin Greene gunned down three separate runners at home. Has anyone seen him throw, does he have a cannon or did he just get lucky tonight?
  16. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 15, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) some don't (Liriano, Nathan, etc.). Nathan has only been back for a month and a half so lets wait til we call his career over. In addition, Strasburg had his TJS at a young age giving him a much better chance of coming back to his old form, finally it is now the exception to the rule when a pitcher doesn't return to pre-surgery or near pre-surgery form following a TJS. It is such a common surgery these days and the doctors are so good at performing it that it's just not that big a deal. Anyways, i think the previous poster's point was that the Nats sure got lucky to get the chance to draft two once a decade talents in back to back years.
  17. All right, I've been looking forward to watching him this season.
  18. We do have some players who are too old for their level but our true prospects aren't. For example, Trayce Thompson, Dayan, Danks 2, Wilkins are all age appropriate for where they're playing, you could even include Mitchell in this list if you take into consideration that he missed a year of development with his injury.
  19. QUOTE (OilCan @ May 10, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) OK, Johnnie Danks. In the last 16 ABs, only 1K. Going back to May 5th. Now I know that's only 5 days but C'MON MAN!!! That's progress. And 4 HRs, 8 RBIs too. NICE. Also for the month of May so far he has an OPS of over 1.300. Discuss. I hope that he's just coming around after a poor start, his K rate was above 40% for a while and he's simply just not that bad a player.
  20. Remenowsky faced 4 batters and struck them all out. he's gone 14.1 IP with 21K's 1BB and an ERA of 0.63. He continues to impress, not bad for a guy who went undrafted
  21. One hit on the day for Charlotte, a double by Gookie Dawkins and they get the W. Danks had a BB and Dawkins drove him home.
  22. Charlotte didn't play. Birmingham http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Winston-Salem http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Kannapolis didn't play

  24. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 2, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) Escobar went yard! Dawkins and Escobar have gone back to back twice in a row. That's gotta be some stat geek's wet dream right there, the 8 and 9 hitters going back to back on back to back plate appearances.
