  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) Crab shoot? well how the hell do you kill crabs????
  2. good chance that we took him as someone who will sign for slot so that we can roll the dice on some guys who slide later on in the draft.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) yep...im gonna say it cuz i know I'm not the only one thinking it....and people might torch me for saying this...but i think kenny williams gives preferential treatment to black players get that BS outa here
  4. sounds like Arnett to the Twinkies, i hope we don't get him, he's a one year wonder. you don't take a guy like that with a first round pick
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) anyone else freaked out a little that there are people being drafted this year who were born in the 90's? just a bit, and im not even that old, born in 81
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) If the Astros don't take Brothers he's ours. Brothers is not a Twins kind of pitcher. why isn't he a twins guy?
  7. anyone else hate seeing Selig's stupid face when he reads off the picks?
  8. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) Why is Tanner Schepper still available? The MLB team doctors might have all seen something in his shoulder that scared them away. He tore his labrum i think last year right before the draft and dropped into the second round but didn't sign. Maybe it hasn't healed well
  9. We do have a lefty DH/1B type coming up in Brandon Allen and I'd be surprised if he didn't play next year.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) He did make a change in his swing in the Arizona Fall League. If that was on his own or someone from the White Sox idea, I have no clue, but after he made the adjustment scouts who were lukewarm on him, and there were several, all changed to can't miss. what change might this be??
  11. Too bad that they don't have a position for him but I think that he's mentally tough enough to handle moving around until things finally shake out and the see what position he will best serve the team and also what position he's most skilled at. Good luck Gordo.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 07:13 PM) Kanny scored 5 in the 9th to win 7-6: My softball team scored 10 in the bottom of the 7th to win on monday but you don't hear me bragging about it. I scored twice in the inning
  13. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) I'm sorry, but Beckham has "it". What ever "it" is, Gordon has it. He's just a gamer I wrote just about the exact same thing about him yesterday. He can just seemingly do everything on the baseball field, he is tearing up AAA and should be on the big team within 2 weeks.
  14. make that 6 doubles for him, 3-3 today
  15. Ask and ye shall recieve, Gilmore hit a HR, he's got 4 rbi's on the day. His third of the season.
  16. Danks homers opposite field in Birmingham. Who says that his power hasn't ever developed. He's been in a mini-slump, good to see him go yard.
  17. David Cook with a Grand Salame. Allen, Viciedo and Gartrell score.
  18. Charlotte v. Toledo Beckham is 2 for his first 2 in this game with 3 RBI's. He hit his double of the left-center field wall with two men on base, almost a HR. His first hit came on a bunt after Lillibridge doubled to lead off the game. Whatever "it" is, Gordo has "it". There is seemingly nothing that he can't do on a baseball field. What a gamer. He also has a healthy 1.206 OPS so far in AAA. Birmingham v. Huntsville W-S v. Myrtle Beach Mollenhauer has a triple, he's been raking so far hitting .306, time for a promotion maybe. Kanny v. Delmarva Gilmore doubled in a run, his avg. is at .222, waiting for him to show his power.
  19. Beckham was starting at SS BTW, didn't notice that until now.
  20. Konerko has been a rock in the middle of the lineup all month and all year for that matter, Richard came up with some big time starts for us and kept us rolling when a slip up in any of those starts could really have hurt the momentum that we've been building these past few weeks.
  21. Charlotte plays Toledo at 6:30 Carlos Torres and his 2.12 ERA take on Jeremy Bonderman Birmingham v. Huntsville Flowers hit his 7th bomb of the season. He's also got a ridiculous OBP of .435 W-S v. Kinston Shirek got his 8th win of the season and Marrero hit his 5th HR, Morel back in the lineup but Gerst didn't play again. Not sure why he isn't the every day CF, seems to play every other game or so. Kanny v. Delmarva
  22. Sauer is a boss. 39IP 1BB 46K 3.67 GO/AO Given up 2 ER in 6 games since he was moved into the starting rotation. That is 2 ER in 31IP with 36K and 1BB. I think he's a starter.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) The first time I read Tim Wheeler's scouting profile, I thought he'd be a good pick for the Sox. The recent mock draft has him falling to #32. He has one of the uglier swings I've ever seen, all kinds of extra and unnecessary movement in it. I'd take him in the second round at the earliest.
  24. Started off his pro career pretty badly in Great Falls last year but so far has been having a nice start to the 09 season. He's been in Kannapolis all year and through 21.1 IP he has an ERA of 1.69. He has 6 BB and 7K's on the season with a GO/AO ratio of 3.31 which is good to see as he was drafted because he throws a power sinker as his best pitch. It looks like his success may be coming from a change in his approach. Last year he struck out 40 in just 30IP which shows that he was trying to strike guys out but he had pretty bad ERA in the high 6's. This year he's hardly striking anyone out but his ERA is much much better at a higher level nonetheless. The coaches probably told him to start pitching to contact and let his sinker do all the work breaking bats instead of trying to strike people out. We'll see what the rest of the season brings for him but this is a positive turn of events for someone who looked like a wasted draft pick last year.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) And the winner is...TLAK +1 Unless they keep him at SS but one of the only competent players we have in Charlotte plays SS in Eidier Torres, though I think maybe he's been at 2B since Lillibridge got demoted. Anyways, 3B would be the logical position for him to be playing in Charlotte as Castillo has been a disaster there and it's really the only place he could play on the infield if he gets promoted again.
