  1. He's not worth a draft pick.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 03:01 PM) I think Marquez will wind up being the best of all the players involved in Swisher trades the last two years. This.
  3. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) On Marquez, I haven't seen any of him so far this ST, but it sounds like his results have been promising thus far. How's he looked so far? I'll estimate his stats for you... 5.0 total IP (all against the Cubs), 5 K, 2-3 BB, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER. Pretty damn good if you ask me.
  4. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Mar 6, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) its starting to look like BA will be the odd man out. theyre going to go with owens bcuz of his speed and listening to the score in the morning, they said theres no way wise will get cut and the sox really like him and hes doing great right now If BA is out, our defense is going to be horrendous. With no BA, Dye is the only above average defensive outfielder. Ozzie likes defense and the small things. I think he stays at least as a 4th outfielder.
  5. There's no way in hell I sign T.O. if I'm the Bears. Unless he's working with Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, he won't be happy. We can barely even call Kyle Orton an average QB let alone one that T.O. would be happy with.
  6. I wish Jeff Marquez was an option. Anyways, I went with Richard.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) SP Buehrle SP Danks SP Floyd SP Poreda SP one from: Marquez, Cassel, Eggy, Richard, Harrell, etc. I personally am a Marquez guy, but maybe we draft a solid college arm this year to add to that list?
  8. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) I don't think you'll see all those guys in 2010. I'd say Allen, Poreda and Danks in 2011. Whether in the pen or in the rotation, I think Poreda will be up for some time this year, if only for September call ups. As for Allen, he's already made it to AA and played 41 games there. So he'll likely start in AA for a little while or AAA directly. He'll probably have a strong opportunity to make the club right out of the gate next year if Thome walks and he doesn't regress in the Minors this year.
  9. We have a few prospects that should break through and start the 2010 season in the Majors. In my opinion, we'll see Beckham (SS, 2B, or 3B?), Allen (assuming Thome isn't re-signed), Viciedo (at 3B if Fields doesn't perform; LF is Fields has a strong season and we let Dye go), Poreda and possibly Danks II (future CF and lead off hitter). A lineup with those guys is gonna be f***ing fun to watch.
  10. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) The Sox lost that game 13-0. If there was one team being fooled that day, it wasn't the Cubs. Marquez did his job that day. 2.0 IP, 0 H, 1BB, 2K(?) I like Marquez. The way Ozzie and Kenny talk about him make me feel like assured that this guy will be a solid starter for us.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) 3 picks in the first 60 then? Excellent. Hopefully we save some money in the budget for some prospects. I wouldn't mind taking a college bat (1B/DH?, CF?) at #23 and young high school arms with sign-ability concerns with the sandwich pick (Rick Porcello, Tim Melville types) and in the 2nd round (Cahill, Anderson, and Tillman are a few top pitching prospects that went in the 2nd round in 2006). Let's get out there and spend this year. It'd be nice to have a top system for the next few years to come.
  12. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) It seems like if the Sox were to do a Cabrera sign-n-trade with the Jays that we'd probably get a package of A and AA prospects. Similar to what we got in the Vazquez deal. J.P. Arencibia + another lower level guy (Justin Jackson?) wouldn't be bad, IMO. You can never have enough good catching prospects in your system. There are questions with Arencibia about whether he'll stick at catcher or not, as there are with Flowers, so you could potentially be looking at one of Arencibia or Flowers behind the plate and the other at 1B, with Allen at DH. Doesn't sound too bad to me.
  13. My mistake, could a Mod please edit the title to say 'Blue Jays' instead of 'Blue'? Thanks in advance.
  14. OC SIGNS WITH OAK Travis Snider for OC straight up would be nice. We could trade Dye for young pitching, move Quentin to RF, and put Snider in LF. I can't see the Jays be willing to give up Snider though. Brett Cecil + a lower level prospect (s) or David Cooper and some lower level prospects. What do you guys think would be a fair enough return for OC?
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 1, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) Brandon Allen is an athlete! The kid really reminds me of a Lance Berkman/type, decent wheels, big pop, and can hold a reasonable average. When this kid was drafted his weight was a major concern, but he's just filled out for the better. I take it as you're referring to his leaping catch on the Santos error? I like Allen, I think he's going to put up some nice numbers at the ML level next year.
  16. I wouldn't mind taking a flier on Harrell as a bullpen arm.
  17. I was just watching ABC 7's ST coverage and they had Ozzie making some hilarious comments on Colon. These aren't exact quotes but what he said went along this line: "He was like 350 pounds when he won the Cy Young." - on the face that he's not worried about Colon's weight. "He's not a jockey." If anybody's seen or heard anything else that's fresh, post it here.
  18. Why does everybody think Allen is too high? He is pretty comparable to a Ryan Howard type player (High K rate, raw power, heritage). I wouldn't be surprised if he does actually become a Howard clone (If he pans out). You guys wouldn't take Ryan Howard on our team?
  19. No way. It makes no sense at all. Beckham is farther along than Vitters, and we already have Viciedo and and Fields. Based on talent, I still wouldn't do that trade. Vitters is still, what, 19? His future is a lot harder to predict than Beckham's.
  20. CF- Yasser Gomez SS- Ramirez RF- Quentin LF- Dye DH- Thome 1B- Konerko C- AJ 3B- Fields 2B- Getz BN - Pudge BN - Wise BN - Lillibridge BN - Anderson BN - Betemit SP- Danks SP- Floyd SP- Buehrle SP- Richard SP- Marquez RP- Jenks RP- Linebrink RP- Dotel RP- Thornton RP- Yadel Marti RP- Russell KW put faith in two young starters last year. They both succeeded. I have no problem with him doing it again.
  21. I went with Wieters, Hanley, and Lincecum. Hanley and Lincecum are the obvious choices here. I am one those people that believes Matt Wieters is going to be Joe Mauer+.
  22. QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 25, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) Not sure what it would take, but I'd like to have him back. I find it interesting that former WhiteSox draftees fill three of the top ten spots in the Oakland's farm system this year. Sickel's rankings are a bit different, but he still has three of draftees in his top 10.
