  1. QUOTE (MO2005 @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) We should change this post to Obsessed with the lack of off-season moves. I am really growing angrier and angrier with this. I am getting impatient by the day with Kenny not doing crap! I just don't understand how a team who wins the division in the coolest fashion, just lays down and rolls over the next... Oh, come on. We all know Kenny's only been waiting for Yadel Marti and Yasser Gomez to successfully to defect from Cuba.
  2. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) Hmm, from what I've read in the past, Cuban Ball is normally compared to A+ to AA ball, and a .330 BA in AA translates to about .290 in the majors. That's backed up by Alexei's year, he was a career .333 hitter over there and he hit about .290 this season. If the guy can take a walk, I'd definitely prefer him over and lead off/CF candidates we have now. The fact that he's Cuban makes me prefer him over who we have now. Bringing in another Cuban or two can also bring excess comfort to Alexei and Dayan.
  3. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) Could Gomez possibly be lead-off material? The article calls him "a fast outfielder" and notes that he has a .331 career average.
  4. Happy Birthday, you three! Have good ones!
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) He's not saying that Paulie alone could net us Cain AND Sanchez. He's saying that it would be a possibility to deal Konerko for ONE OF Cain or Sanchez. You gotta read back a little bit. He thought that I originally meant we could get Cain and Sanchez for Paulie but what I actually meant was for one of them. I guess he didn't understand my wording because I put Paulie for Cain/Sanchez, which I meant as or, not both. My brain feels scrambled now, haha.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) You should re-read that... ???
  7. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) pretty sure the slash meant or meaning Cain or sanchez which makes sense for both teams That's exactly what it meant. No way in hell could Paulie alone net us both Cain AND Sanchez.
  8. I was actually just thinking about this trade scenario last night...freaky. I wouldn't mind a Paulie for Cain/Sanchez (+?) deal.
  9. Happy Birthday, everyone! Hope you have good ones.
  10. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) Ive heard about a few people getting Itunes gift cards now. Doesnt anyone steal music anymore? I know I still do. Haha, definitely.
  11. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) Maybe... But winning the NL West only requires them to be the least pathetic team in that division. Here's how I see it: Padres have one of the worst teams in all of baseball right now. Dodgers lose Manny, Lowe, and Penny. D-Backs have lost Johnson, Owings, and Hudson. Rockies can bounce back this year if everybody is healthy. Giants have the best rotation in that division, IMO. Pitching wins games. I think it comes down to the Giants and D-Backs in '09.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) They won't trade Damon, they need a leadoff guy and he was pretty productive in 2008. Matsui they would love to trade, but they would have to eat a lot of contract to do that. They have Brett Gardner waiting in their system. He apparently is very, very fast, draws a lot of walks, and has good plate discipline; just a few things that make a leadoff hitter. They also have Austin Jackson, who is very athletic, from what I've read.
  13. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) Keith Law says the Randy Johnson signing moves the Giants "toward 2009 respectability, if not outright contention." Sounds like Law has been hitting the eggnog pretty hard over the holidays. They have one of the best (if not the best) rotations in the West now considering that the Dodgers lost Lowe and Penny. If they can add an impact bat or two (SS?, 1B?, 3B?), I think they can potentially win the NL West.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) It's pretty obvious KW is going with what we got. Are we rumored to be heavily after anybody? Not complaining just wondering. Are we ever rumored to be after anybody that we actually sign or trade for? I could only name a few, if that.
  15. Happy Birthday! Have a good one.
  16. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 11:50 PM) They've done a True Life special on it, pretty interesting. I've gotta start looking out for that. Was it on a famous eater(s)?
  17. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) One of those competitive eater guys need to cash in by making a documentary, or a reality show about how they train for that s***. That would be pretty damn awesome. I heard some of them stretch their stomachs by drinking water since it has 0 calories and is cost effective. "A day in the life of Takeru Kobayashi" would make for a great documentary.
  18. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 05:58 PM) Agreed on Portillo's. Yeah, that burger was sick. Didn't it seem like some challenges were a lot easier though. Like the 7 breakfast tacos didn't seem all that tough. If I was Kobayashi or one of those other competitive eater dudes, I'd do a tour and shatter all those records. Yeah, he had ALL day to finish the breakfast tacos, just couldn't use the washroom. Not hard at all unless you have serious bladder issues, or if you got bad tacos haha. I agree with what you said about the competitive eaters. That would be cool if Joey Chestnut was the host of Man Vs. Food instead of that Adam clown. While I don't think competitive eating is a sport, it sure is fun to watch.
  19. They've just solidified their rotation a little more by signing Johnson, but by no means do I think he is worth $8 mil. Right now their rotation is: Lincecum/Johnson/Cain/Sanchez/Zito Not too shabby. It will be a lot better in about a year or 2 when Johnson is gone and IF they can get rid of Zito it would be a rotation with one of the highest ceilings I've seen in a while: Lincecum/Bumgarner/Alderson/Sanchez/Cain Link
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) Going deep into games is about the only weakness of his right now. I don't know if I'd call it a weakness of his as much as I'd call it Ozzie being cautious. Yeah, he was taken out early a few times because it just wasn't his day. But there were a few other games where he was pitching well and he ended up with 6 or so innings.
  21. Awesome, just PM me if this thread gets buried. Thanks, knight.

  24. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) the scratched disc thing with xbox 360 does suck. i was playing it yesterday and my sister was over and barely moved the console and it went crazy and scratched my madden game rendering it unplayable. Damn, that sucks. This is kinda stuff I don't want to deal with in a system. And as a few people have already mentioned, PS3's have Blu-ray capabilities. That'd look beautiful on the big screen in our basement. Does anyone know of any electronics stores that are having MAJOR sales today? I know Circuit City is closing a lot of it's stores and everything starts at 10% off and that KB Toys is having 40-50% off on everything for only today I believe. EDIT: I just checked the KB Toys website, everything is at least 50% off and I would guess it's not only for today, it says they're going out of business.
  25. Does anybody know of any for baseball? I'm cheap as hell and I'm really in the fantasy mood right now. Thanks
