  1. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) There you go (link). "YOU DON'T SEE THAT VERY OFTEN, IF EVER! MERCY!"
  2. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) The host is a disgusting animal...... but didn't the Bar-B-Q in Memphis look good??? ....and Al's Beef I just watched my DVR recording of the one in Memphis. I was salivating over that lol. Al's is probably my 2nd favorite beef next to Portillo's. I thought it was pretty stupid to even try eating that 7.5 pound burger. I'm not sure if any human would be able to eat that within an hour.
  3. Happy Birthday you guys! Have good ones!
  4. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) They won't, I've checked and I'm pissed. You can join me & Brian in the we want the MLB Network on Dish. Damn it, what a bummer. I was so excited when I first heard about the MLB Network, and now I find out I can't even watch it. Thanks, Dish Network.
  5. I also have a question. We have Dish Network and I was wondering if anyone knows is they will be carrying MLB Network. This sounds like it's going to be a great channel and I'll be pretty pissed if we don't get it. Any help would be wonderful.
  6. Santa was very naughty this year. He came to my church in the middle of Christmas Eve mass, walked down the isle drunk, and left a present in front of the manger scene.
  7. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 01:29 AM) I go to grad school at the University of Pittsburgh and when I got out there I had never had the famous sandwiches from Primanti Bros. They are really freaking good if you have never had them before. They put the meat, coleslaw, and fries, all on the big french puffy bread...all served hot off the grill. Then I come to realize there is a copycat place, essentially identical right here in Chicago. There is a place in wrigleyville called Lucky's, right on Clark St just a little south of Wrigley. Its seriously identical, menu, food, prices, style, etc. Dont know if this is a patent issue, not sure if you can patent a style of food or method for preparing food, but if you have ever heard of Primanti Bros from Pitt just know that you can find the same thing here in Chicago. 3427 N Clark St. Were you watching Man Vs. Food tonight too?
  8. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) Synder is getting an extension from the Dbacks. I wonder why we haven't heard anything about the sox making an offer to Henry Blanco at this point. Give me Henry Blanco for one year and I'll be a happy camper.
  9. Happy Birthday, bud. Have a good one.
  10. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
  11. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) Currently Dye holds the most value so a Figgins and Bailey combo would an excellent return. That would free about 5-6 million to use on a backup catcher also. I won't deny that a Bailey/Figgins return would be amazing. Figgins is a FA after '09, correct? Is he a Type A or B FA? If he is, that would make the return even sweeter. 6 years of Bailey/1 year of Figgins/'10 draft pick if Figgins walks/the $5-6 you mentioned for getting rid of Dye.
  12. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) I like Figgins in LF if he's aqcuired. Im guessing that would happen if Dye is dealt and not Konerko. I like an OF of Figgins, Anderson, and CQ So, the returns you could see happening are, if Dye is traded, Dye for Figgins, and if Konerko is traded, Konerko for Morales+?
  13. This is so awesomely stupid. I have 4 WBC teams to choose from, and like Jason mentioned, could also run for Presidency in the US.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 10:20 PM) But that wouldn't be negotiation would it? At least not "deep" negotiation. No, not exactly "deep". But they could just still be working out the kinks of a possible deal.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) Can someone explain to me how a team can be "deep in negotiations" yet has not made an offer? I guess just talking in terms of mutual interest and years/$$. Besides that, I have no explanation.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) and it's a 1-year commitment. No team should be afraid of his body breaking down that badly. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) Especially considering he'll be a full-time DH. He probably won't even bring a glove to the ballpark. I will gracefully accept defeat in this discussion.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) for an .875 OPS, that's cheap as hell. Thome's making $13 million this year and that's about what he put up last season. And who gives a s*** if he's a former steroid user, he's apologized for it and he's still a productive player. I want Barry Bonds on the Sox and he's the poster child for steroid use, but if they signed him, he'd put up sickass numbers for them and they'd be contenders. I honestly don't give a damn that he's used steroids, it's the fact that it starts breaks down the body after so much use.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) yeah...he is 38. I don't think he's going to go for like $3 million, but somewhere around $7-10 million for 1 year makes perfect sense to me for Giambi. That's not exactly cheap for a 38 year old, former steroid user, though.
  19. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) They simply do not have any holes that would require them to trade an ace to fill. Coming off of a World Series with the deepest farm system in the majors, and one of the deepest farms mankind has seen in quite some time, there is no reason to trade one of your top young established SP. This isn't like the Sox. The Rays are sitting on a gold mine. They could trade for Peavy without putting much of a dent in their farm system. They don't need to trade from the Major League club to improve the Major League club. And as far as Dye and Konerko is concerned, the FA market is flooded with corner OF options, and Giambi can be had for cheap to fill the DH role. Dye and Konerko make very little sense for the Rays in exchange for anything of importance on their Major League roster. Do you really think that Giambi will take that large of a pay cut from his what - $18 million last year?
  20. QUOTE (tommy @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) I'm sorry but I think representing your country should be a little more 'selective' than simply choosing what team you play for. I can see if a player is a citizen of two countries, he picks one and plays for that team forever. Just my two cents. I agree. BTW, I enjoy reading the majority of your posting on here.
  21. QUOTE (Sec101Row1 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) I think the WBC Finals are in LA and Team USA plays the Sox in Glendale on March 6th. Since you're new here, I'll show you how to quote. Either just click reply to a comment and it'll quote automatically, or {quote} Insert text here. {/quote} Just replace the brackets I used with these brackets----> [] It'll look like this:
  22. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) You'd have to be crazy to think the Rays would move one of their top SP right now. They simply have no reason to trade one of them right now. They have a ton of depth at the SP slot, so trading away a top guy wouldn't hurt them that much. Dye would give them a great outfield with Crawford, Upton, and Dye (not to mention the only all black starting OF I've ever seen?) and Konerko could be a solid DH for them.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 07:33 PM) Personally, I'd go PS3. Its multimedia functions are completely unmatched and really should be the central hub of everyone's entertainment center. You wouldn't think you need everything in one spot until you get a PS3. In terms of video games, 360 beats it definitly thus far. But the potential of PS3 is definitly much greater and plus it's got a huge advantage in having its own sports franchises(The Show, for example). The holiday line-up was great for PS3 and it's 2009 one looks even better. Plus you factor in free online gaming and the greatness that is HOME, I think those are deal breakers that go against the 360 and for the PS3. Thanks for the detailed review. I used to have a PS2, which broke, then I bought a Wii, which I didn't like, and now it's either 360 or PS3.
  24. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) Sure is. I wonder if would be able to pry Kazmir away from them. Meh, more wishful thinking. Heck a James Shields would be nice. A Paulie and Dye package should be able to net Kazmir, heck maybe even most stuff not considered untouchable. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but Paulie is only two years removed from being a top-notch 1B and Dye is a great hitter. The only thing that would hold us back from getting a GREAT player for a PK/Dye package would be their age and contracts.
  25. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) Marquez, Betemit and Nunez?? Actually Swisher wouldn't be too bad to reacquire and then sending PK somewhere for more prospects. Or heck, package both Jermaine and him to TB for something really really nice. I'm just dreaming out loud though. Yankees are serious about getting their crown back. I would LOVE to have David Price, but he's untouchable, right?
