  1. Yunel Escobar is a Wasserman client as well.
  2. Happy Birthday to all three of you! Hope you have good ones.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 11:44 PM) And they're still the third best team in their division, IMO. The AL East is getting more and more interesting each year. It will get even more interesting in a few years as the O's have a few interesting prospects in Wieters, Matusz, and Tillman, along with the possibility of them signing Tex.
  4. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 11:33 PM) Sorry, I couldn't translate it because I'm on my phone. But anyway... I'll be shocked if Manny signs with the Yankees. He whined about being in the fishbowl of Boston, I think he'll whine just as much or more if he ends up in the fishbowl of New York. Something tells me the "Manny being Manny" thing won't be tolerated as much by the Steinbrenners as it was until Boston finally traded Manny to the Dodgers. I'm actually surprised if Manny won't sign a contract with the Dodgers. IIRC, the Dodgers offer was at 2 years/$45 mil. a few weeks ago, and I believe Manny was seeking at least 3+ years at $25(ish) mil. per year.
  5. per MLBTR http://www.impactodeportivo.com.do/?op=dis...amp;format=html The link's in Spanish. Could somebody please use Google Translator and translate it into English for everyone else? When I tried to translate the link, it just took me to the Impacto Deportivo homepage still in Spanish.
  6. QUOTE (tommy @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) Good, screw Boras. ^^^
  7. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) John Danks is without a doubt my favorite pitcher on the staff right now. I can't wait until I start seeing "Danks 50" t-shirts at the stores. I hope the Sox can keep him for a long, long time. It'd be nice if Danks/Floyd can become Chicago's version of Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz. Does anyone think that, when free agency comes up, that the Danks family might favor staying in Chicago for less money rather than seek more money/years elsewhere? With how John and Jordan are no longer represented by Boras, and how their new agent is, if I'm not mistaken, the same agent as Beuhrle's, hopefully we'll always have the inside track on negotiations with the Danks. He is definitely my favorite as well. I think if we acquire Bailey (or a similar type of pitcher) and he pans out, we can have our Danks/Floyd/Bailey just as Maddux, Glavine Smoltz. (2 righties, 1 lefty in both trios. I think John would most likely accept a deal to stay here for less money for one reason: we gave him a shot when he wasn't performing in the Minors for the Rangers. I absolutely love everything about this guy.
  8. With the lack of news lately, I thought I'd post this article from Scott Merkin. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws
  9. Grady Sizmore has announced that he will play for the American team. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=mlb
  10. Whenever my computer's on, I'm refreshing Soxtalk and MLBTR every 3-4 minutes just hoping for some sliver of White Sox news. All I'm ever hearing (on MLBTR anyway) is stuff on Teixeira, Manny, the Yanks, the Sawx, the Angels, and occasionally the Cubs.
  11. QUOTE (Cubano @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) You do not believe me! Here is your boy Quentin again. Titán" González and his brother Edgar, brothers Jerry and Scott Hairston, brothers Andy and Adam LaRoche, Cantú, Quentín, Rod Barajas (born in Canada), Eric Chávez, Andre Ethier, Manny Parra, Johnny Estrada and Nomar Garciaparra. http://purobeisbol.com.mx/content/view/354/ Wow, I would actually be surprised if half of these guys actually qualify to play for them though.
  12. QUOTE (Cubano @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 10:25 AM) Mexicans are trying to convince Quentin to play for them. I have read it in the Mexican media. Are you serious? Quentin was born in California and did all of his schooling here, and I don't think he ever lived there. I guess he could actually play for them if he wanted to, sort of like how Mike Piazza played for Italy in '06.
  13. QUOTE (buckweaver @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 06:02 AM) You're both sipping too much nog of egg while there's still work to be done. The proposed 3-way trade didn't need your reprimand because in it, the writer was suggesting the Sox would net Figgins (maybe Santana) and Votto for Konerko and Dye. Where I believe some common sense needs to be added is that, in an attempt to get all 3-way-y as the armchair Kenny Williams, the trade proposer instead is proposing two simple trades: the first...Dye to Cincy for Votto. The second...Konerko to Anaheim/San Luis Obispo (and I don't know how to make that green or teal or whatever color it's supposed to be) for Figgins (and maybe Santana). To do that, why would Anaheim and Cincy need to swap minor leaguers? As for personal thoughts...if the second trade included Santana...let's have one great party for two of my forever favorite White Sox and wish them well in the twilight of their careers in their new cities. I had them swap minor leaguers just to actually make it a 3-teamed trade. In doing so, the value of Konerko stays the same as it is now because if we traded for Votto first, we would have to except less for Konerko because the team we'd want to ship him off to knows we have to get rid of him. Same concept the other way around too. If we traded Konerko first, Cincy would know we're in need of a 1st baseman, so we'd likely have to pay more for Votto than just a one year rental of Dye.
  14. If Cincy is really willing to give up Votto in a Dye trade, why not try this three-team trade out: Dye to Cincy, Konerko to Anaheim, Votto and Figgins (or Ervin Santana) to Chicago, with Cincy and Ahaheim exchanging other minor leaguers.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) k I was wrong, he was still born in the US and resides here now. It's frustrating that a talent like that would play for the DR because he lived there for 3 or 4 years. Yeah, as if the Dominican team wasn't already stacked without him.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) native Dominican Republic? He was born in New York, he hasn't ever lived in the Dominican Republic. Actually, he did live in the DR for 3-4 years. Well, I heard 4, but Wikipedia says 3. He also shares dual citizenship IIRC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Rodriguez
  17. If Marquez does in fact have comparable numbers to Javy, we would have basically traded Swisher and Javy's contract for Marquez, Betemit, and Nunez. Pretty good deal if you ask me. I still think he probably won't break the 25-man roster out of ST.
  18. I heard that A-Rod was interested in playing for his native Dominican Republic this time around, or at least David Ortiz was pimping that idea out. http://www.nowpublic.com/sports/alex-rodri...aseball-classic
  19. Games 162 and 163 were epic as f***! Game 162 - Alexei's Grand Slam! Game 163 - Danks pitched AMAZING, Thome's HR to make it 1-0, Griffey's throw and A.J.'s tag on Cuddyer at home, Anderson's catch!
  20. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 10:37 PM) Sooo, I noticed that no one brought up the possible showdown over jersey #20 between Carlos and Jon. CQ seems like the most serious man on earth and Jon is a pretty passive guy. I wonder how the conversation about Jon getting his number back would go? I could totally see Carlos pulling any number of MK II fatalies. This one most closely resembles what I see happening: I was actually thinking the same thing earlier...
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) Thank you Mr. Scout. I'd trust Garland could get back near his career averages. He just needs to start hangin' with Coop again.
  22. I think bringing Garland back would make Marquez better. I've read that Marquez is a Jon Garland type of pitcher, and maybe Jon could show him a thing or two with his sinker.
  23. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Obviously Garland would fit back into our rotation perfectly with the emergence of Danks and Floyd. It would give Ozzie the flexibility to have a L,R,L,R,L rotation the entire season. If Stone is right and the market drops in January i would love to have Garland for $8 million/season with incentives. . But im guessing he gets nothing less than 10 mill/season... I think about $8-10 mil/season is about the price for an innings eater pitcher these days. I really wouldn't mind going $10/season, but for no more than 2-3 years.
