I might just cry. He's been absolutely awful his past couple of starts.

AND THATS A CENTRAL DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!
DaTank replied to kapkomet's topic in Pale Hose Talk
F**K YES!!!!!!! JOHNNY DANKS, YES!!!!!! JIM THOME, YES!!!!!!! GEORGE KENNETH GRIFFEY JR., YES!!!!! BRIAN ANDERSON, YES!!!!! BOBBY JENKS, YES!!!!! Now let's go to Tampa and show everybody that we deserve to be here! Already being counted out of that series. Our starters have been f***ing SOLID the last few games. Only one thing, the Rays have basically nobody with playoff experience (I can only think of Tory Percival and possibly Eric Hinske). Who's gonna start in the Rays series for us? Is Javy going to be knocked out of the rotation for this series? -
I like what I've been reading on here with rebuilding this team. Keep Quentin, Danks, Floyd, Alexei, and possibly Jenks and Swish. Go out and get some young arms, hitters, and speed-demons.
-
I went with Josh Fields, Nick Swisher (his attitude lately has been pissing me off), DJ Carrasco, Jerry Owens, Ken Griffey Jr., Javier Vazquez, Boone Logan, Mike MacDougal, Horacio Ramirez, and Ehren Wassermann

Let's Go White Sox! MUST WIN.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) Ozzie's the same whether they win or lose? Really? Since when? If he's the leader not Cabrera like he said then maybe he needs to call his team out. Maybe he needs to make better decisions and make sure his battery make better pitch selections and adjust his lineup. Maybe he needs to shut his mouth because he motivates other teams better than his own. This whole god damn team from management to the players need to shut their f***ing mouths and go out and win or shut the f*** up. I almost can't wait until this choke fest is over because I just can't give up hope. My goodness... You nailed it right on the head.

QUOTE (sox1844 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) How do you figure? When IS a good time? Why would you respect Ozzie? Because he's proven to be so consistent and rational? Why shouldn't a guy say what he feels? I wouldn't want to be put down on my bad play with three (possibly four games) to play. Would you? It's only added pressure on the players. A good time would be anytime besides now. Like I said, the players don't need added pressure, especially now. Why would I respect Ozzie Guillen? You don't? He's the manager of this team and has done a pretty good job in that position in my opinion. I really don't care if he's "consistent and rational". He's not there to baby the players. OC should just learn how to shut his mouth. He causes too much drama.

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) He wasn't even "ripping" his teammates, he just was being honest. I agree, someone needed to voice that. I never said that I disagree with what he said. However, I think now was a not a good time to do so. I feel that it would be Ozzie's job to say what needs to be said, not OC's.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-ssep25.article I don't understand two things what OC does here. He says: "There are guys that want to be clowns...". He contributes to all of that. What do you call all of his crazy handshakes during the games? Don't get me wrong, I think they're hilarious, but he shouldn't be talking about joking around during games when he participates in it. I also don't understand why he decides to make these comments now. Does he think this will help them in their game tonight? Does he think it will help them if they actually make the playoffs? What do you all think about this?

To open the series, we have a battle of the southpaws. I hope we can take advantage of Washburn on our field, who is generally a fly ball pitcher. Buehrle has been good of late, let's see if he can keep it up. P.S. Thanks, Knight

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) I posted a thread today because yesterday's winner never posted one. If you wish, you may post tomorrow's thread. P.S. - I did not delete your thread. Thanks for the offer and thanks for letting me know. I will try to do the game thread tomorrow, but am unsure if/when I would be able to since I am going to the game tomorrow night. If it is not posted by the early afternoon, somebody else can take it.

QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) Last season, unwritten rules were implemented for game thread creators, where the poster is entitled to post the next game thread, until the Sox lose. I think it's pretty sh***y that whoever deleted it never even bothered to message me seeing as it's unwritten and since it was 'written' before I even joined.

QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) I started a game thread for Saturday's game at about midnight on Friday Night/Saturday morning. Why was it deleted by a mod/admin? I always thought that anyone could start game threads here. Did I open it too early or something? There was nothing else wrong with it. All I said was "this is my first game thread. :gosox3:" or something like that. Nobody can answer this for me?

It'll be interested to see how this plays out. If there's someone not on there that you'd vote for, tell me and I'll add him as another option.

Kansas City might be pretty dangerous in a few years...

Lol, no. My mistake. Now edited. -
They just signed Eric Hosmer (#3 overall pick in 2008 draft) and Tim Melville (went in the 4th round; had first round talent - dropped due to money issues) We can potentially be looking at a lineup like this in 2011: C - Miguel Olivo DH - Billy Butler (As Hawk says: "This kid's gonna be a great hitter some day.") 1B - Eric Hosmer (#3 overall pick in 2008 draft) 2B - Mike Aviles (I can see him sliding over to 2B to make room for Mike Moustakas; looking pretty damn good this year, though I hate his batting stance) SS - Mike Moustakas (#2 overall pick in 2007 draft) 3B - Alex Gordon (#2 overall pick in 2005 draft; very high ceiling) LF - Mark Teahen CF - Mitch Maier (#30 overall pick in 2003 draft; high ceiling;) RF - David DeJesus Some notable pitchers: P - Luke Hochevar (#1 overall pick in 2006 draft; VERY high ceiling) P - Joakim Soria (All-Star this year) P - Zack Greinke (#6 overall pick in 2002 draft; high ceiling; only 24 years old) P - Tim Melville (High ceiling; first round draft talent; dropped because of money) Notable pitcher - Brian Bannister (already 27 years old but has solid potential) Of course this would be the line-up if everybody on that list pans out (which I doubt). If the majority of them do pan out, I would be very, very afraid of a lineup like this.

I wouldn't mind Viciendo, but I doubt he'd be able to make the majors by Opening Day. I like Zimmerman too, but it'd take a ton to pry him away from the Nasty Nats. I can't really see DeWitt moved either unless they keep Blake or sign another 3B (Crede perhaps?).
-
He gets smacked around the entire year in the minors, gets called-up and gets it done in his first ML start this year. I don't understand why he was called up in the first place with the way he was throwing this year, but I'm happy he pitched well. It's a bid odd isn't it? Can't even throw well in AAA and comes up and tosses the ball pretty well. I know it was only one start, but still.
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 04:31 PM) Unless, of course, Ozzie doesn't want him straining a muscle, which is my point. This is my point as well. Why would anyone want to throw a 37 year old slugger who has been injured a few times in the past in the field if it isn't necessary?
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) Wrong. Johnny Damon's arm was terrible, and he played CF regularly up until two years ago. Because range matters more that arm strength in CF. My point is not that range is more important than a good arm. Are you agreeing and saying that Swisher's arm stinks? Mark McGwire played 1st his entire career. Thome hasn't played 1st on a regular basis since '05.
-
- Swisher's arm is terrible. - Griffey is more of an 'athletic' type than Thome. It makes him more capable to play the field. - I am not living in the past with Dye. His has been spectacular playing defense this year.
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 01:22 PM) Since you apparently know everything, why don't you explain to the class why Ozzie has Griffey playing CF most days, with Swisher at 1B when Swish is CLEARLY the better defensive option in CF? Why not just move Thome back to 1B and Griffey (or Dye) to DH? Why in the heck would Kenny even trade for Griffey in the first place when he could've taken Paulie out of the lineup by simply moving Thome to 1B? Why has Thome not played 1B all year (especially in interleague play, with Paulie slumping), and a combined four times over the previous two seasons? Swisher is "CLEARLY" a better defensive option in CF? This is news to me. How many gold gloves does Griffey have? 10? What about Swisher? None. No, Griffey is not the Seattle Griffey we all know and remember, but he is still better than Swish. Swisher has better range at this point in Griffey's career but Griffey can still be a far superior in CF. Do you think Swisher's puss arm even compares to Griffey's? Did you see the catch Griff made in CF the other day (Saturday, I think)? I really don't see why you'd want to move Dye to DH or Thome to 1B either. Dye is 34 compared to Thome who is 37( Thome turns 38 on August 27th). You obviously wouldn't want a guy as old as Thome out there trying to put up solid D. He can't move like he used to. Dye on the hand, has a great arm in RF, and has shown us that he can play Gold Glove caliber defense( He actually has 1 Gold Glove). Please explain your reasoning.

I picked Dye and Carrasco.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) That's obviously not the case seeing as how he has a 2.37 ERA in Charlotte in 6 starts. It's also quite a bit easier to pitch in the minor leagues than in the majors. He deserves another chance at some other point, but he doesn't deserve to be in the rotation this season. He can go pitch for team USA in the Olympics. It wasn't a stat that I looked up, Hawk mentioned it. He said the stats were between AA/AAA. Clearly is it easier to pitch in the minors, but that wasn't my point. My point is that he is obviously talented. I also think I heard that the team USA roster was announced and since Richard was in the Majors when they announced it, they replaced him. Unsure about that though.
