  1. My point is that voting methods need to be changed. I'm so tired of seeing nobody but Sawx and Yanks players winning every year when many of them don't deserve it. I wouldn't mind something like having the writers vote like they do for HOF balloting or players and management doing the voting, not being able to vote for their own players. At least do something fair.
  2. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws A load of crap. Through the first vote, CQ is not even within the top 15 of AL All-Star voting. Here's what it looks like so far... 1. Ramirez, M. Red Sox 539,122 2. Suzuki, I. Mariners 284,763 3. Guerrero, V. Angels 274,827 4. Ordonez, M. Tigers 236,890 5. Abreu, B. Yankees 233,147 6. Hamilton, J. Rangers 229,711 7. Cabrera, M. Yankees 200,248 8. Sizemore, G. Indians 193,508 9. Hunter, T. Angels 190,850 10. Damon, J. Yankees 189,844 11. Drew, J.D. Red Sox 185,673 12. Crisp, C. Red Sox 149,801 13. Crawford, C. Rays 149,732 14. Granderson, C. Tigers 145,490 15. Upton, B.J. Rays 102,623 Anybody else think the methods on voting needs to be changed? I know it's only the first vote total, but still, it's so corrupt that he isn't even within the top 15. Thoughts?
  3. I'll put my faith in CQ. BTW, any CQ supporters join my CQ fan club.
  4. No way in hell were those pitches strikes.
  5. I hear that Carlos Quentin is pretty darn good at baseball.
  6. Assuming Hosmer is gone by #8, and Smoak, Alonso, and Wallace aren't, I'd have to go with Smoak. He seems like the most complete player out of the group. Smoak is a great switch-hitting power-hitter that many compare to Mark Teixeira. Also has Gold Glove caliber D. Also, Wallace isn't called "The Walrus" but some scouts for no reason. The kid has a massive body.
  7. Now that I think about it, they changed the Google logo for the Chinese New Year.
  8. QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 25, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Atqn...p&type=lgns Ouch, that sucks for the Tribe.
  9. BTW, CQ is leading in HBP in the AL, with 8. It'll be so un-American if he doesn't make the All-Star team. He's the 2nd most deserving AL hitter for the team, behind Josh Hamilton.
  10. QUOTE (Cali @ May 25, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) i am so drunnnnkkkkkk C motherf***ing Q!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yea!!! That was so f***ing beast! Jose and Carlos were on fire! Could you imagine how many more game we would've lost with Owens in there instead of Quentin?
  11. Oh man, I'm so pumped from that game! CQ and Jose were just phenomenal.
  12. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 23, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) I wanted to get your thoughts on this. Is Bobby Jenks one of the most underrated players in Major League Baseball? You never hear him mentioned as one of the elite closers, but he is one save away from 100 career saves in only his 3rd full season. For compression: Mariano Rivera got his 100th save in his 3rd full season as a closer. Yes Rivera is on a whole other level, but think about it. I definitely agree with you here. All you ever hear about on ESPN is Mariano Rivers, Jonathan Papelbon, and Joe Nathan. Jenks definitely deserves some of the accolades. For one his ERA is better than the almighty Papelbon with Jenks having a 1.77 and J-Pap with a 2.35. Personally, I think Jenks should be considered at least within the top 5 closes in all of the Majors currently.
  13. This is amazing. Great pitching by Buehrle and the 'pen. Quentin comes through in the clutch again. We now have a 3.5 game lead on the Twins, 4.5 on the Tribe, 5.5 on Kansas City, and 6.5 on the Tigers. I just hope they can keep this going all year.
  14. I've got a trade idea to acquire to the #2 pick from the Heat, while retaining the #1 pick. First step: resign both Deng and Gordon. Ask the Heat for the #2 pick of the '08 draft for...Heinrich/Gordon + Deng/Thomas + Bulls 2nd Round pick of this year and the next 2. I doubt it'd ever work, but it's fun to dream of. Getting both Rose AND Beasley would be beyond amazing.
  15. I'm not much of a draft guru so I have come to all draft knowledgeable SoxTalk members with some questions I have for the '08 draft. My question is: why does it seem the Sox have little interest in Justin Smoak out of South Carolina? In a few mock drafts I have seen, they have the Sox taking Gordon Beckham. It just doesn't make as much sense to me to take a SS, even if O-Cab and Uribe left after this season. They have Ramirez, Ozuna, Richar, Getz (if he is ready), free agency, and later rounds in the draft. Smoak reminds me so much of Mark Teixeira and someone like that is hard to pass up. Power-hitting switch-hitters are very rare. With Thome probably retiring after the '09 season it makes sense to take a 1B and put him at 1B in '10 and Konerko to DH. Who do you all think is the best option in the draft for the Sox?
  16. Not much of a surprise. He pitched 3 1/3 innings of his first start of the season and left the game with a left hamstring strain. Will he be healthy for an entire season ever again? http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) Either the game is fixed, or those umpires should be fired. And i'm not even kidding, if 3 calls that obvious can be missed that quickly, the crew clearly is inadequate to do it's job. I have never seen anything remotely like that in any sport in my life. That was the worst thing I've ever seen from an umpiring crew. We could gotten a few more runs if those calls were correct. Completely unacceptable.
  18. AL East - Yankees AL Central - White Sox AL West - Mariners AL WC - Red Sox NL East - Mets NL Central - Brewers NL West - Diamondbacks NL WC - Rockies Mets over Yanks in the WS.
  19. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) Then why have PK and MB there? If they trade MB it means we are re-building. If we re-build Javy is gone and would most likely bring back the best or second best package. Because of the rumors we've been hearing over the off-season. At one time we were talking about a possibility of the Reds wanting MB for some of their young guys. Also heard of the possibility of PK to LA for Figgins, ect.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) He's 30 years old and he's spent the last couple years playing for the AAA affiliates of Houston and San Diego. When was he acquired?
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) That's Royce Huffman. He sort of is backing up Crede at 3rd right now while Fields is in minor league camp. OK, thanks. Where is he from, AAA, AA, FA, etc.?
