  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 06:11 AM) Only 1 Bears WR in the top 64, Booker at #62; http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/new...%3fid%3d3309135 Not surprising to me.
  2. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) Watching Thomas and Griffey in their primes is a childhood memory I'll never forget. Cheers to that.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) If Anderson is in the lineup with Swisher, and Anderson is playing LF, Ozzie deserves all the abuse he gets. Indeed he does. That would be a horrible decision.
  4. Canseco's new book will definitely be an interesting read. Can any of you guys really take him as a credible source though? Just because he juiced doesn't mean he knows of every juicer in the past 10-15 years. Sounds like some crap to me that A-Rod was on the roids. Next he's gonna tell us that Ichiro and Jeter on on the juice - complete crap.
  5. My sister goes there and she showed me this threat warning. http://www.wiu.edu/newsrelease.sphp?release_id=6218 What the hell is going on in this world that every school needs to be shot up for no damn reason? These people disgust me.
  6. Happy b-day, Kalapse. Speaking of Kalapse, has anyone heard from him lately? Haven't seen his posts on here in a while.
  7. QUOTE(Jake @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) For some reason, Sox players generally never grab the spotlight with non-sox fans. A notable exception of course would be Frank Thomas, who I think was liked by a lot of a non-sox fans. I think if Buehrle played for the Yanks, he'd be a well-liked and extremely well known baseball figure. I agree with your entire post.
  8. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) This is a terrible list. Peralta is way too high. Thats the one thing I mostly have a grudge with. He shouldn't even be on the list, period. I mean, what about guys like Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester, Jonathon Papelbon, and Clay Buchholz to name a few. He was obviously aiming for a list filled with fresh faces and guys on the younger side by putting Johnny Peralta on there. AND what the hell, no Felix freaking Hernandez? IMO, he may seriously be the future of the MLB.

    QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 08:42 AM) btw, any chance you want to throw a link to fivecritics.com on your blog? Sure I will, for all the help you've given me. I had a blog set-up at Wordpress but it was denied by PPP. Which blog do you use that PPP accepts?
  10. With Owens likely to start the season on the DL, that means Anderson and Quentin will both be on the team. The question is: Do you want Anderson starting in CF with Swish in LF or Quentin starting in LF and Swish in CF? Personally, I like Anderson in CF and Swish in LF because I love Anderson's D and think he will come around this time with the bat. So, who would you rather have starting?

    Idea

    QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 11:41 PM) We've had Cafe Press stuff before (wanna buy a g-string?), but no one ever bought it. All we'd need to do is ask people on if they would buy Soxtalk stuff, and ask what they would buy. Bam, make enough stuff for those already willing to buy it.

    Idea

    I like the idea or t-shirts, wristbands, bumper stickers/car magnets, and even hats. I think advertising would be good because even if we have "1.5 million posts", we have many, many guys that have 25,000+ posts and that accounts for a lot of posting. Advertising would be good to get many more than the 6,000+ members we have. I also like the idea of being able to meet each other at games.
  13. Marcus Giles didn't make the cut for the Rockies' team despite a solid spring training. In ST he hit .321/.457/.536 in 13 games. If something magically gets Uribe out of the Southside, I wouldn't hate a signing of Giles to either start at 2B, if Alexei needs some more seasoning, or as a bench player. Thoughts?
  14. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) I suspect that there are two options for Anderson to start the season: 4th OF for the Sox or starting in AAA w/ the 4th OF spot going to Quentin. These look like the most likely options because Ozzie seems set on Swisher in LF, Owens in CF, and Dye in RF. Which of the two options do you believe benefit Anderson the most? 4th outfielder. What will AAA do for a 26 year old? Same for Quentin, who is 25, but he's a lot more injury prone than BA. IMO, it's NOW or NEVER for BA. I think this time around, he'll be able to prove himself.

    Idea

    Well, I was driving home from Easter dinner and I thought of an idea that might catch on, on here, to promote this very website, www.soxtalk.com. I thought of getting higher ranking/founding members of Soxtalk, to see if they could make Soxtalk bumper stickers and/or car magnets. Then we all pay for them ourselves (sending money to the admins and mods), and putting them on our cars. Thoughts on this?
  16. Already picked up my vouchers, guys. Going to go get my tickets tomorrow. I'm going to pick DET on Sat. April 12th, where Buehrle and Verlander should be pitching (I counted their scheduled starts) and LAA on Friday May 23rd or Sat. May 24th. Should be good stuff.

    Happy Easter

    QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) I think Easter is celebrated by pretty much all Christians, not just Catholics. I apologize for overlooking that. I would like to wish a Happy Easter to all Christians.
  18. Just wondering because I'm an avid collector. Thanks.

    Happy Easter

    Since Easter is only about 2 hours away, I thought I'd send out early Happy Easter wishes. Tomorrow there will be an Easter extravaganza between our beloved White Sox and the Royals at 3PM, on WGN. Be there or be circle.
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) He needs to drop about 40 lbs. He's damn tall though. Here's a few pics of him.
  21. Senior in high school right now in Virginia. Is 6'7 and weighs in at 285. Is a southpaw and throws a blazing 96MPH fastball. Read in SI magazine that he might go in the 1st round, like his brother Chris will in the NFL. Right now he is committed to play ball at Florida State. Don't know what any of his other pitches are like, but sounds like he could develop into a solid pitcher at the Major League level with that fastball, and if a adds a solid change. And talk about an athletic family. Jeez. Thoughts on this guy?
  22. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) Um, no. More than that. Listen, I'm rooting for Anderson to win the job. He's the best defensive CF we have, and has the most upside. But let's be honest, he's teased us before. I'm just bracing myself for it. And I also don't understand the absolute hatred on this board for Owens. I think the guy can be a solid 4th OF for us - and even a solid starting CF if Anderson blows it again. Yes, he still has a lot to prove, but he's shown improvement both at the plate and in the field. It just makes no sense to me why he gets absolutely killed around here. Owens was hurt most of ST, remember? And I don't hate Owens. I just think with the improvements Anderson is showing, he can be better for the job right now.
  23. QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) so because of half priced monday's, they won't give away free tickets? Yes sir, that is correct.
