Thinking about signing up and adding my blog to it. Need some extra cash for new baseball cards and stuff. Anybody use it and actually get paid via Paypal? If anybody is a member how much do you get paid on average per month?
  2. If U.S. Cellular is your Chicago-land area cellphone service provider, you're in for a surprise. Enclosed in the bill today, we received a coupon for 4 vouchers for 4 free White Sox home game tickets to pick up at the nearest U.S. Cellular store. The vouchers are for any game in the Upper Reserved sections in April or May. Games excluded are Opening Day, the New York Series, and any Monday. The series' that you would be able to see are Angels, Tigers, Twins, Indians, A's, and Orioles. Great promotion by U.S. Cellular.
  3. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) He can't a lick, his D is okay, but his arm is terrible now from the surgery. I highly doubt he can be a great game caller. I know the Sox are the leash for some $$ with him, but why should he make the team over Lucy who is superior in all aspects of D, would bring more energy, help for his developement and would probably be a better hitter. All I know is Toby Hall's days as a solid hitting catcher are gone and he won't throw out runners. Lucy >> Hall. Comments? Anyone agree? Disagree? I've got to agree with you here. They need to quit wasting money on Hall. He isn't worth it. They should just bring Lucy up for 3 reasons. #1. He will probably be better than Hall and #2. He is a ton cheaper than Hall and #3. Let him develop in the majors.
  4. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) Wow, tell us how you really feel.... Oh, and by the way, Owens is hitting .375 this spring. Say what you want that they are Arizona-inflated #'s, then you can say the same about Anderson. How many games has Owens actually played in? 5? How many has Anderson played in? Most of them.
  5. Checked the papers and nothing. I would have to think that all Sox vs. Cubs games are on TV. Is it a typo or are they really not going to be watchable?
  6. I do. I think he is finally starting to come around. If he makes the team, which he should, I think he could be a nice asset to the squad. Thoughts?
  7. QUOTE(The Beast @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) Hey man, Google Topps Baseball cards and see if there's any information there---I'm not sure when the companies are releasing their cards but I know they will include many people who are new to the organizations in their set. It may not be the most valued of the rookie cards, though. Thanks, I tried to Google it already, and nothing. Topps and Upper Deck Series 1 cards came out at the beginning of February. I bought a box of 2008 Topps Series 1 already, and no Alexei card. Got some great ones though. Out of rookie cards in that box I got 2 Clay Buchholz, 2 Joey Votto, a J.R. Towles, a Chin Lung-Hu, a Sam Fuld, a Emilio Bonifacio, a Jeff Clement, a Wladimir Balentien, and a ton more. About 25-30 RC's in that box alone. Thanks for your help though. And yeah, it may not be very valuable and probably won't ever go for anything over $7, but I like Alexei. P.S. The 2 messups in the box I got were a Ervin Santana with Johan Santana signature on it and an Orlando Cabrera (in Angels uniform) with Luis Cabreras signature on it. I read somewhere that Johan is Ervin Santana's birth name and the name that he signed his contract with. And he apparently changed it because of the Johan Santana we all know and love.
  8. Trying to find a Alexei Ramirez Rookie Card. Anybody know if they're being released yet? Gotta have that thing.
  9. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) Yeah, but Soriano only played 9 games in 1999 and 22 in 2000 for the Yanks. So he was actually 25 before he was a full time player. That very well could be the fate of Alexei as well, only if Uribe stays AND he hits a bump in his journey to the majors.
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 09:48 AM) The Sox very well could have the next Alfonso Soriano, who wasn't much younger than Alexei when he made his big league debut as an undersized, poorly fielding 2B who smacked the hell out of the ball and ran like the wind. Actually, Soriano signed on with the Yankees in 1998, when he was 22 years old. He played his 1st game in 99'. Alexei is 26. 3-4 years in age is a big difference if you ask me. But, I agree with your other comments. He will be very exciting to watch
  11. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) I recently posted a message about how Jerry Owens had an attitude and was cocky. Later I wrote about the one time I met J.O. at ESPN Zone. Within the last few days I ran into Jerry at a spring game in Arizona, and stated how I met him at the VIP Sponors Private Party. He shook his to yes and engaged in a conversation with me. It may have just been a bad day for him, making it wrong for me to give him a bad rap. I apologize for being so judgmental towards a guy who I have met only twice. Good post. I'm glad you changed your thoughts on the situation.
  12. Anybody want to buy a Wii package in great condition? Go no further than Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI....cSELL.m315.lVI
  13. I've got a few. Well, post yours, and here are mine. Division Winners AL Central: Chicago White Sox AL East: New York Yankees AL West: Mariners AL Wild Card: Boston Red Sox Chicago White Sox - No, I'm not being a biased Sox fan right now, but I think they have a better chance than everyone thinks. I think the Tigers could lose older guys like Pudge, Sheffield, and Maggs to injuries and have absolutely horrid pitching. And I think they can just flat out compete with Cleveland. New York Yankees - IF The Big Three do well, the Yanks will beat out the Red Sox. Mariners - I gotta take them in this situation. Sure, the Angels improved and are favored, but with the Angels' #1 and #2 pitchers being on the DL to start the season, it doesn't help their cause. And acquiring Bedard certainly won't hurt the Mariners' cause. Look out for Felix Hernandez for a monster year. Boston Red Sox - Who else is competitive enough in the AL East? NL Central: Chicago Cubs NL East: New York Mets NL West: Arizona Diamondbacks NL Wild Card: Milwaukee Brewers Chicago Cubs - I think that if they can land Brian Roberts, they could go as far as the World Series!...insane as that may sound. New York Mets - Although they have one of the oldest teams in all of baseball (if not the oldest), they have a nice young core in Reyes and Wright, and the addition of Santana won't hurt this team. Arizona Diamondbacks - Love this team. Very young and very competitive. Oh, and they added Dan Haren. Milwaukee Brewers - Just like the Diamondbacks, they have a great, young core. Prince Fielder will hit at least another 45-50 homers and Ryan Braun will have another outstanding season. The only problem is the health of their starting pitchers. 2008 World Series Champions - Chicago White Sox in 7 games against the Chicago Cubs. Jim Thome will be the hero and win WS MVP. Rookie of The Year Award Winners AL Rookie of the Year - Evan Longoria NL Rookie of the Year - Klayton Kershaw Cy Young Award Winners AL Cy Young - Felix Hernandez NL Cy Young - Dan Daren MVP Award Winners AL - Manny Ramirez NL - Prince Fielder Surprise Teams AL - Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago White Sox NL Atlanta Braves
  14. How would you like to have someone come up to you while you're trying to enjoy your meal and ask for an autograph? And to go further into saying he is "cocky" and a "jerk", is just ludicrous. Personally, I have never met Jerry, but he seems like a great guy. You don't need to give him a false rep just because he didn't want you to interrupt his meal. Sorry, but grow up.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) The waiver is not a public thing that they openly discuss with everyone. In accordance with Major League rules, the White Sox are not allowed to comment on the rumor. - per Merkin's article http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Uribe's agent, Martin Arburua, said he has not been informed of Uribe being waived. "I haven't heard anything like that," Arburua told a pool of reporters. "Everything I've been told by the club was positive about Juan. I heard he was hitting well, playing great defense. That would be a shock." - also from Merkin's article Interesting stuff.
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) That great insider, Chris Rongey", should of watched the game on TV. Hawk and DJ mention them cutting Uribe during the broadcast. He's in AZ. I don't know about any of this Uribe stuff. It's just what he told me.
  17. Just contacted Chris Rongey, who does the pre and post games for The Score, and he says nothing has happened with Uribe just yet. He also doesn't understand where this comes from besides a money standpoint, and I agree with him on that. Sure, Uribe isn't an All-Star, and I don't even like him at that, but, he was said to be in the lead for the 2B job. I'm confused. "Ranger" also feels something with Uribe is imminent though. On another note, he says Fields' condition is bruised arm - day-to-day.
  18. QUOTE(haroldbainesknees @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) I think we should keep Cox; Ozzie added him to the staff for some reason. However, reading this post I admit I really love Rickey Henderson. In my opinion he may be the most complete non-steroid/HGH offensive player I ever watched, an unmatchable combination of speed, power and on-base skills. The guy was a true freak. I can only imagine what he may have done statistically if he were on roids or HGH in the mid 80s through early 90s, ala Bonds, Sosa were in recent memory. Eric Davis when he first came up in the mid 80s with the Reds was unreal as well. I think it'd be nice to see how he plays out first, as mentioned in earlier posts. Remember Razor Shines? Ozzie had to add him to the coaching staff for some reason too, and look how he turned out. But I agree, Henderson was the greatest complete player, since I started watching baseball. He was just fun to watch. I wish more players we're like him.

  21. QUOTE(Disco72 @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 08:27 PM) The guy hasn't even coached a real game for us yet, and we're finding replacements...really? Guys, see the title. It says MY PROPOSED IDEA. IF and only IF Cox completely sucks, I thought it'd be a nice idea.
  22. QUOTE(flavum @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) Two things: 1) His name is Rickey. 2) Where is this coming from? Stealing bases and running the bases are two different things. Ozzie coached with Jeff Cox in Florida, and he knows what he brings to the table. Oh man, I'm so sorry I spelled his name wrong. I apologize. And it's just a thought. I didn't say "OMG bring Rickey here right away!!!". Just a thought pal. That's why I said if Cox doesn't work out, if. And if he was stealing bases wouldn't he be running them at the same time? You need to know how to run the bases to steal them. This is just a pure speculation thread, you don't need to argue or make statements that he would be a bad coach.
  23. I mean, why not? Who knows the base paths better than Ricky Henderson? I think the Stolen Base King could do this club some good, IF Cox doesn't work out. Thoughts?
  24. Anybody else pumped? I heard the graphics are horrid on Wii though, and that's what I have. What do you all think about it? Title - MLB 2K8 Release Date - March 3, 2008 Platforms - XBOX 360, Playstation 3, Wii, XBOX, Playstation 2, Playstation Portable Developer / Publisher - Kush Games / 2K Sports
  25. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) Hate to break it to you, but I've seen things similar that at the Cell as well. Those bathrooms are damn nasty during/after games sometimes. Plus some people when they partake in beverages, don't know their limits. I've been a casualty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time in a beer fight at the Cell before. Not pretty. I completely agree, but I have never seen anyone put their face in the urinal or something disgusting like that at a game. I'd rather see a sloppy drunk fight any day than someone sliding through hundreds of guys' piss.
