  1. http://twitter.com/Cst_Sox Sox Get Rios; Jays Clear Payroll
  2. Just to clarify, you're the GM of your team. You're responsible for trades, offseason signings, keeping together a solid farm (depending on the teams goals you set for yourself), fielding a full team, and meeting the $100M budget.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) 2009 - ~98 million 2010 - ~60 million 2011 - ~43 million 2012 - ~27 million Not seeing how we're going to be strapped for cash anytime soon I didn't mean as much as our financial commitments as much as as his decrease in performance the past few years. But we also have to take into account locking up young guys that are currently on the team or will be in the future. Beckham, Danks 1, Quentin, Alexei, Floyd. Too early to throw Hudson, Danks 2, and Flowers in there?
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:13 AM) I vote for zero. He's f***ing terrible. I'm REALLY missing Clayton Richard now.
  5. I think that if we take on Rios' contract, it's going to bite us in the ass eventually. Maybe not this year or next year, but it certainly will by 2014 IMO.
  6. Hey guys, I'm looking for a few new members for the dynasty baseball league that I run. We're looking for roughly 10-11ish committed members. And by committed I just mean visit the board daily and see what's new and respond to messages. Some people quit due to other obligations and some guys are just inactive, so we're looking for a few new faces. Some pretty good teams are available. Prospects are part of this league. Each trade in the league must be approved by six members or vetoed by four before it can be passed or not. Our scoring is as follows: 6X6 Hitting Categories BA (Batting Average) R (Runs Scored) HR (Home Runs) RBI (Runs Batted In) SB (Stolen Bases) BB (Walks) Pitching Categories W (Wins) K (Strikeouts) ERA (Earned Run Average) WHIP (Walks+Hits over Innings Pitched) H (Holds) SV (Saves) Here is the league board: http://www.mlbownersleague.proboards.com/index.cgi Feel free to check it out and sign up or message me on here with any questions.
  7. I know some guys are going to b**** but I started the thread looking for fantasy advice in a dynasty league that I run (a few teams are available if anyone is interested; message me). I currently own Allen but I'm looking into trading Allen for Chris Carter if I hear what I like on him.
  8. QUOTE (Beckam4thehall @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) Are you guys even sox fans ? Wtf. do you watch the sox play. have you been to a sox game. are you blind ? do you not watch him get the job done ? i bet you people don't even play sports. Try doing what he does. Being a life time short stop then moving over to third and playing it better than fields right now and in a year or two maybe as good as crede. Go f*cking play the game of baseball. Learn how to play the game and please go watch a week of sox games. Jesus Christ. Take it easy over there. Nobody's trying to insult your intelligence or their own intelligence on the game of baseball. They're merely saying that it's a bit early to be talking about Gordon Beckham for the HOF TWO months into his career.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) Spending real money on a 5th starter is a waste. They don't help you in the postseason. But they help you GET to the postseason.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 01:49 AM) One thing is certain, we need to add at least 1 OF this off-season. Dye and Thome are both due to be free agents and you have to figure one will leave and one will go, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see both of them stay on smaller contracts. Seems like Figgins will be a priority so let's roll with this: Figgins CF Beckham 3B Quentin LF Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Pierzynski C Ramirez SS Getz 2B Buehrle Peavy Danks Floyd Contreras/Torres/Hudson/FA? For some reason, I just can't see the organization kicking Thome and Dye and Contreras to the curb, but needless to say, they'd all be coming back on far lesser deals. I'm having trouble understanding why people are putting Quentin in the 3-hole in potential lineups. He has yet to prove that he should be in that spot now, or Opening Day 2010. His numbers on the year are less than inspirational.
  11. For those who missed it, he was named 1st Team All-American.
  12. Fields took by far the creepiest looking picture I've ever seen. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=435222
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) We’d really be hurting our bullpen by making Thornton our closer. Ideally, someone from the minors can step up get saves, and gain value. I’m a 100% believer in selling the closer, they’re a replaceable asset.
  14. To Clayton Richard, My man crush on you will never end, even if your tenure on the Southside has. 5.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER (HR to Fielder), 5 K in his first start with the Pads. Not too shabby, eh?
  15. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) i don't know if KW would spend the money but i would like to see a roster of: CF-Figgins 3b-Beckham RF-Dye DH-Blalock 1b-Konerko LF-Quentin C-AJ SS-Ramirez 2b-Getz bench: Nix,Wise, Flowers,Fields SP-Peavy SP-Buerhe SP-Danks SP-Floyd SP-Duscherer RP-Pena RP-Carasco RP-Nunez RP-Thornton RP-Linebrink RP-lefthander CL-Jenks There is absolutely no way Tyler Flowers will be sitting for A.J. at the ML level. If Tyler Flowers is up, he'll be the starter.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) This is true. But a move like this can single-handedly, I don't know, re-energize (not sure what word I'm looking for) a team. Ignite?
  17. What happened to all the posters ripping Peavy calling him a "b***h" and "p***y" for not wanting to come to the AL earlier in the season? Change of thought because he approved this one?
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Even if we don't win anything this year. The next couple of years will be absolutely AMAZING in terms of pitching. Even if Peavy puts up a ERA in the mid 3s instead of the 2s, he's still a very, very good starter. 1. Peavy 2. Buehrle 3. Danks 4. Floyd All I have to say is wow. That's going to be the best pitching staff in the AL for years to come. I still think Buehrle will be our actual #1. Not saying he's better than Peavy, but I think he'll be our Opening Day starter. Maybe Hudson as the #5 starter if he keeps raping in the minors?
  19. I personally don't like this at all. Peavy's paid a ton, showed that he didn't want to come here earlier in the season, and has been hurt. No bueno, IMO.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) Heyman says Rolen to the Reds. For who? Alonso?
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) I know. I meant both. And it looks like Laroche is going to the Mets? Braves.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) he said 3 MORE titles My fault. Didn't look closely at what he said.
