  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) I'd go with: Hanley Ramirez Evan Longoria Albert Pujols Ian Kinsler Joe Mauer Zack Greinke Roy Halladay Cole Hamels Tim Lincecum Dan Harden I'll assume you mean Dan Haren. I'd replace Haren with Doc Halladay. I'm not entirely sold on Greinke yet, so I'd go with Felix Hernandez over him (for the time being, until Greinke performs like he has over the course of a whole season).
  2. I really liked the Phegley, Thompson, Holmberg, Goodwin, Buch, and Justin Jones picks. The Mitchell pick has really been starting to grow on me - I love his upside and tools. Depending on how many of the prep guys sign, we could be looking at a very talented draft class.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) We wouldn't be without Jared Mitchell. If we had re-signed Cabrera we wouldn't have had Josh Phegley and David Holmberg. We would have lost the #23 pick to the D-Backs. They had the #16 and #17 picks because Hudson was a Type A and he signed with the Dodgers, who had to give up their first round pick for him.
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) Can you guys imagine where we would be if he had have signed Orlando Hudson and kept Javier Vasquez? I don't care if he can't win in big games - he was an innings eater that got us to big games in the fall. We'd be without Tyler Flowers and Jared Mitchell.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) The Sox better be prepared to at minimum, double what they offered Jordan Danks. Do you think so? He has a strong desire to play professionally apparently, so I can't see him coming out with any high demands.
  6. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 07:04 AM) i said meh... at the time (and perhaps even still now) I wanted Smoak or Brett Wallace...though now Beckham > Wallace....still not sure about Smoak though I really wanted Smoak. I won't deny it, I knew NOTHING about the minors, draft, talent, etc. back then. I still wouldn't have minded the Smoak pick, but it is what it is. I like the way Beckham fits into our system.
  7. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) Interesting side note, the Sox have a twitter (InsideTheSox), and it announced the lineup earlier today, Beckham is batting 7th, ahead of Getz and BA. Doesn't really surprise me. Despite only having one hit, Gordon's only stuck out three times so far. He's making good contact, just needs to be more selective and find some holes.
  8. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Thompson is white, or atleast mixed I believe. Mixed. He looks white but his father's black.
  9. Am I the only one that noticed that the athletic high-upside CFers we drafted are all black?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) Maybe KW has a good relationship with the Thompson family? The only negative I heard about our first day picks was that some think Mitchell was going to be there at 38, and Phegley there for our 3rd pick. Oh well, I'm sure someone we think will be good will suck, and vice versa. Personally, I would have went with Tyler Skaggs or Everett Williams in the Comp A round. We probably could have gotten Phegley in the 3rd (maybe even the 4th).
  11. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft...009/268323.html First round recap from BA.
  12. In the 4th round, the Sox go with Matthew Heidenreich, RHP, Temescal Canyon HS (CA)
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) Sam Dyson is still out there right? Yes. Oakland just nabbed Stassi by the way.
  14. Thread title needs to be edited - round 4-30 go today. And tomorrow is 31-50 IIRC. If Stassi is still available for us in the 4th or 5th, I wouldn't mind going after him. If he's not, I like the Bailey and Seastrunk suggestions. I also like the idea of us grabbing more high-upside arms.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Andy Seiler: White Sox pick Trayce Thompson from Santa Margarita HS (CA). He’s going to take tons of money to sign, but he’s got HUGE upside. Andy's is a great guy. He knows his stuff. He's in my dynasty baseball league.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) NOpe, Max Stassi is still out there as well, IIRC. Dominguez off the board to the Giants. Stassi's still out there.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) Anyone have a list of all the 2nd round picks so far? I hate this tracker. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/draft2009/ne...tory?id=4246340
  18. I love this pick. I think we go pitchers with the next two picks though.
  19. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/draft2009/ne...tory?id=4246340 Not sure if it's a live feed or not though.
  20. D-Backs have already taken two HS 3B with Borchering and Davidson.
  21. So is it a 12 or 15 minute break? Two guys said 12 and two said 15, haha.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) I don't like us drafting someone who has his major questions in his swing. That is all. Why isn't Brothers off the board yet? I would be ecstatic if he fell to us at #38.
  23. The more I'm reading about Mitchell, the more I'm liking. I'd guess maybe Curtis Granderson type along with the Carl Crawford comparisons. Great athlete, decent power. His swing and defense are in question.
