  1. So I was listening to Comcast Sports Net sports news and apparently the talks with Scott Podsednik's agent have heated up in the last couple of days, right after Kenny's comments about 'looking elsewhere.'
  2. Since this is the Twins thread, MLB trade rumors has OCAB going to Toronto and they see the Twins signing FA Adrian Beltre.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 02:02 AM) Good post except for this. Crisp is another outfield hack with a very weak arm. Someone bust out the stats because as much as I don't ever watch him play, his wikipedia page he is a superior defender. No clue about his arm. I'm sure he can be had for cheap and would solve the leadoff problem, his bat is just not enough, hell I probably take Pods over Crisp just because of 2005 and my fanboism, and Mrs. Podsednik of course.
  4. During September everyone and their mother were saying how Bobby will most likely be traded because the Sox brass doesn't believe in paying big money to closers and how you can find them in the minors or anywhere else. I say Bobby is traded for a potent bat corner outfielder.
  5. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) MLB Trade Rumors Not sure if this is posted anywhere else but I remember seeing someone mentioning Vlad (probably in the RF thread), and MLBTR has some pretty wild predictions in this list but has predicted Vlad as our big move for DH. FWIW. I love how Juan @ #39.
  6. QUOTE (ptatc @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) I don't know if you ever met AJ but he is nobody's best friend. And if someone is I highly question their judgement amd character. I would love for you to elaborate a little bit more on this.
  7. Strikeforce tonight guys, in Hoffman Estates and live on CBS. Feeeeeeedor!
  8. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) That's a pretty big offensive downgrade at 2 positions. Murton is an interesting low cost option. While Retherford can possibly match the offensive output produced by Getz, there is no way Teahen will come to the production we are used from Dye. If we made all these moves last year to WIN in 2010 I think they will bring a potent bat to play RF via trade/FA signing.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) Yes but at 2B he can platoon with Nix and if he sucks big dog, we can use Nix more often than Teahen at 2B. If he sucks at third are we gonna move Gordon back? I just became a lover of Gordon's defense as the season progressed at 3B. I really don't understand moving him to second. Stone for example thinks that Teahen is an above average third baseman. The Sox think that Gordon will be a way better 2B than he is 3B.
  10. After listening to Cowley and Stone on B&B I think White Sox need do whatever they can to pursue Carl Crawford (For JorDanks, Bobby Jenks and a throw in) and give DH time to Tyler Flowers who also would be a back up catcher. Then you DH Kotsay on days Flowers is catching and AJ is getting a day off. Any left over money you have to build your bullpen, Thornton being the closer. RF Crawford 2B Beckham LF Quentin 1B Konerko DH Flowers C AJP 3B Teahen CF Rios SS Ramirez Bench Kotsay OF/1B/DH Retherford 2B/SS/3B/C De Aza 4th oufielder/leadoff Nix 2B/SS Can this work?
  11. Teahen himself claims 3B being his 'comfort position' and said: "I can handle the outfield and play there, but third base is my No. 1 position."
  12. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:25 PM) Yeah, I know, he did not say that he didn't want to bring him back. Right. I smell exactly what you're stepping in.
  13. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) Who said they don't want to bring him back? Kenny Williams said that they will probably look elsewhere because Pods wants too much. Refer to couple posts up.
  14. A lot of stuff going on in the Sox world today. Per both Cowley and Merkin, Pods is looking for a lot more than Sox were gonna give him, so he is not likely to come back. http://twitter.com/cst_sox/status/5484689380 http://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/5484698742
  15. We don't really know how good of a second baseman will Gordon be..
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) Whoa, where are you hearing this? http://twitter.com/cst_sox/status/5484388644
  17. KENNY just said Teahen plays 3B and Beckham is our new starting 2B, well holy s***. EDIT: This is straight from Cowley's twitter account, take it FWIW
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) Hudson plays 2B and leads off? OF consists of Q, Rios and Teahen. Not great, but not terrible if you are just trying to put a team on the field to support your good pitching. We still need a DH, preferably left handed and a pen arm or two. Still no real base stealing threat in that lineup.
  19. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) Per Cowley- Trade is done, I wonder how much money are Royals giving us.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:10 PM) I'm hearing a lot of talk that this trade should it happen, opens up the doors to a Figgins signing. Don't Figgins and Teahen basically play all of the same positions? Wouldn't adding $4 million + to your payroll make it less likely you would be willing to give Figgins the money he would require? Polanco makes some sense but he's older and slipped a little this past year. Damon I would love, but Rios would probably weigh 140 lbs. by July with all the ground he would have to cover. I mentioned Figgins earlier but was told 'sign Pujols and Utley' while at it.. I like Figgins/Hudson to cover the infield, but if we signed Hudson who would be much cheaper than Chone, I'd still like to somehow bring Ellsbury to be the leadoff guy. EDIT; how frustrating it must be for the involved parties that this is still a rumor, it's like Peavy to the Sox version 1 all over again.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) Because Figgins would cost a s*** load of money that would make other moves prohibitive? If this team wants to be able to compete and aims at the pennant, Jerry better let that money flow.
  22. Ozzie said he really wants Mark Kotsay back and that's the first thing to happen this offseason. I like it.
