  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) After looking at Reed's splits vs righties this year and Peralta's splits vs LHP/RHP this year....it's really frustrating that the Reed trial as closer didn't start a day earlier. Reed's numbers on the road this year are amazing, and I'm excited to keep watching him develop. I hope you've got seats near the bullpen.
  2. It's an annual May tradition: Consecutive inter-divisional series give-away games that result in free fall into Division irrelevance? CHECK. Obvious qualified closer candidate that is more than capable but remains unused until later in the season when he proves to be the best choice all along? CHECK. Inability to execute basic fundamental baseball resulting in opponent momentum and shattered Sox player's confidence? CHECK. Late-inning pressure Matt Thornton choke-job? CHECK.
  3. Should be now and should've been all along Addison F*cking Reed!
  4. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 10:39 PM) I'm gonna keep pronouncing it PAID. I'm not a fan of PED. I don't care what he says. P.E.D... anyone?
  5. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 10:37 PM) What a convoluted way you have of proposing some trade we'd be making w/ Boston Will Middlebrooks please.
  6. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) It's pronounced Sess-Ped-Us not Sess-Paid-Us? This is what happens when you get all your news from the intrawebs. The key part being PED...
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 06:44 PM) The only one "on the clock" right now is Beckham. Viciedo and Morel have time. I think Viciedo's star has faded somewhat within the organization and I wouldn't be shocked to see him used as trade bait. Couldn't be more wrong about Viciedo from what I've heard. He's just a baby and quality prospects his age are typically still in AA.
  8. QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 05:36 AM) Good article up about some simple analysis between Mitchell's 2011 year and so far in 2012 (Although 90 AB's between ST and Double A is a small smaple size). Let's hope he gets it together to avoid the 1st round bust label. Link: http://www.csnchicago.com/baseball-chicago...&feedID=621 Mitchell drove in 5 runs with HR last night. He leads the Southern League with 15 RBIs in his first 16 games.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) .265/.368/.571/.940 seems very Dunn-like. This makes me happy. Sure it's only 57 PA (and coming fresh off his finest game of the season) but through 58 PA last season he was sporting a .163/.293/.327/.620 line and he would not see .700 again all season, so it's a start. That's better than Prince Fielder right now.
  10. In an interview at Soxfest this year he said the booing "didn't help".
  11. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 01:12 AM) Probably. Dunn's been playing baseball how many years? There is a less-than-zero percent chance that boos affect him. Unless of course he admitted they have.
  12. Dunn: .265/.368/.571/.940 - 3 HR / 12 RBI All you idiots that boo the guy at The Cell, I'm sure it's just a coincidence he rakes on the road.
  13. Morel is gonna have to go 0-42 before he's dropped...
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 09:02 AM) This is good news in my mind though. At least he is aware of what is perceived to be the issue. Sure would be nice if they'd move him down to Charlotte to work on it now... Dont get your hopes up just yet. He was talking about loading earlier at Soxfest.
  15. That new timing mechanism is gonna set him back before it helps. That's not to say it won't work but he's gonna swing much more often in the meantime so any chance at seeing pitches is gone. Again, this is the kind of work in progress you do in AAA not in MLB games.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) De Aza - CF Morel - 3B Dunn - DH Konerko - 1B A.J - C Rios - RF Ramirez - SS Viciedo - LF Beckham - 2B There are maybe 3 hits in that lineup tonight.
  17. As much as I like Gordon, he has no business stepping into a major league baseball batter's box this season. It's clear to even the average eye that he has little to no chance to make an impact as a hitter and the roster already has enough of those in this flacid lienup. What he does bring is impact defense, which is great but even stellar defense cannot make up for the automatic out. Not on this team. Not right now. The question becomes can he recover? It's clear that he needs to work on mechanics, approach, everything and that cannot happen on the MLB roster in MLB games. The answer is to send him down to AAA for a few months to right himself. He has the options and he needs this if there is any chance to salvage his career. However, I don't think this will happen anytime soon, if ever. It's just not very Sox-like to make a move like this and especially so early in the Ventura era. But this needs to happen soon, IMO. An EscoBridge platoon could serviceably handle the position and instantly improve the lineup. Beckham was called up too early in his development to begin with and my fear is that he's sent down to recover too late.
  18. So who's gonna pitch the 10th after Beckham K's?
  19. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) Thinking about going to the game today. hm. Tough series this one. Baltimore has very good pitching right now.
