  1. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) +1 It is so nice to have sensible lineups. The players must agree as well.
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) Beckham's swing looked butter smooth on the drive he roped foul in today's game - almost akin to the path he was taking in 09... Then again, it was a foul ball. Maybe a faint reason for hope. Get it done Gordon - just kill it. Start slaying the ball and forget the ladies for now. Green: Maybe if the coaching staff locked him in his cup for the season he'd start hitting again. Well, the first sign of recovery would be quality contact on foul balls so we'll see. I'm not holding my breath.
  3. +1 Can you believe he was the (Sporting News) ROY?
  4. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/video/play...opic_id=7647568 He literally looks nothing like this these days. He's so steep into the ball. Back shoulder dropping. Wha hoppen? (I mean besides that damn machete-tennis-backhand finish he's using)
  5. The Angel's best reliever, Scott Downs sustained what looks to be a serious injury today and could be out for a while. Trade Thornton for Alberto Callaspo and play him at 3rd and hit him 2nd.
  6. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 08:42 AM) I know that it's a little premature, but I'd love to see Escobar sent back down to Charlotte, and Dalla McPherson brought up. He has been a monster the last couple of years, vs. RHP at AAA. The offense could sure use a left handed power bat. I don't think that there is much more for him to prove at AAA. The poor guy had so much promise before his back problems. Morel could play 3RD versus LHP, and be a late innings defensive replacement. Escobar is going to prove very useful, very soon, methinks.
  7. Waaayyy to early to measure the return on the Santos trade.
  8. QUOTE (balfanman @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) I thought of that earlier too. Would Robin do something like that? Word is he did.
  9. If they do play this one, it's likely not to be much to watch anyway
  10. Yeah BP, maybe it's time to slow down on constantly trashing the system, actually see these guys throw or get a new set of scouts.
  11. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) Half this team is seemingly headcases... Every fanbase says that.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 10:34 PM) And Buehrle, we already know the story with that situation. Pretty hard to see anything wrong with how things have broken so far, but it's only 4-5 games in. Obviously, it would have been a spark to sign Cespedes or Soler, but the numbers just got too big with the Dunn/Peavy/Rios contracts already on the books, couldn't afford another bust. The Sox have Cespedes-lite in LF.
  13. QUOTE (Wedge @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) You better watch out for the Alex Anthopoulos mafia... Nobody better mention Colby Rasmus, either! For all the whining about KW in these forums, the Sox do a good job of self-scouting, especially with their own pitchers. Santos is a one-trick pony that the league started to figure out. As I said at the time of the trade, his fastball is late inning average, he can't retire lefties and his slider is hit-or-miss big time. He looks horrible this season.
  14. Santos - 2 blown saves in 2 chances Quentin - injured and out for surgery Ozzie - Idiot mouth. Fanbase calling for his firing already
  15. Take a second and think about what Chris Sale did tonight. He absolutely dominated a major league lineup in his FIRST ever professional start. That is amazing.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Ugh, Beckham just had nothing behind those swings. Beckham is literally like a pitcher at the plate.
  17. I expect a low scoring series. Battle of bullpens. Sox take 2 of 3.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Clayton "Don't Confuse Me with Paul" Richard(s) "They've got pitching," Washington told reporters Sunday night after the Rangers' 5-0 victory over the Sox. "On the defensive end, they don't make any mistakes. And they've got some power in that lineup. "If you've got pitching and you can catch the ball, you're always in ballgames. They certainly have pitching -- some serious power arms coming out of the bullpen." Mark Gonzales, Chicago Tribune White Sox hitting coach Jeff Manto wasn't surprised that Alex Rios' home run Saturday night sailed over the center-field fence. And Rangers manager Ron Washington believes Rios might be in a good spot, especially if he keeps his hands as high as he did in Toronto. "He's going to do a lot more than what he did (Saturday) night," Washington said Sunday. Manto believes Rios' homer might bode well for him and the rest of the Sox's hitters who often get caught trying to pull the ball too frequently. "His every effort is to get that ball to the middle of the field, and sometimes it works," Manto said. "Sometimes he'll miss-hit a ball and it will go to left field. But he's been great to work with. "He knows what he's doing. It's a feel for him. He's a feel hitter, and that's where he feels most comfortable. It would not be a good idea for me to say otherwise. When you feel something, you stay with it, and he's in the right spot." Rios admitted he tends to turn his left shoulder too frequently. "I've been a pull hitter for so long that sometimes it makes it hard to put the ball over there," Rios said. "I've worked on a couple things in spring training. Hopefully we'll see some results from it." Impressed with Manto thus far. Hitters are more selective and thier approach is better. Obviously he's helped Rios and Dunn look better specifically. Manto literally called Rios' shot on Sat in a radio interview on The Score 670.
  19. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) Not naming the closer was a thing of beauty as the kid was never under media pressure and for one day it worked. Also hawk said that the manager change will help this team, it looks so. Agreed. That was genius from RV and it paid off already.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) I actually thought Beckham looked really good tonight swinging the bat. You must be joking.
  21. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Is Rios really the likely honoree this season??? Uh, no.
  22. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) Santiago is the closer and he knows he is. Bump from yesterday.
