  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 11:51 PM) Cespedes- Yankees Soler - Cubs Concepcion - White Sox Soler is the guy I want, along with Concepcion, and I think Cespedes is too old for what Theo is looking for in prospects. Concepcion seems like a typical Sox move. Believe it or not Soler has more teams chasing him than Cespedes. The Sox are in the mix, but Concepcion seems to be their target, FWIW.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) I'm okay with that. The White Sox need anything they can get that resembles depth, both pitching and position players. I'm sure KG isn't as high on Concepcion as others due to him being a polished "pitchability" guy. Kevin loves his tools and upside. That's his M.O., and that's fine. Even if Concepcion's ceiling is that of a 3 or 4, it's still better than the majority of the pitching in the system currently. Sign him. Agreed. Good post.
  3. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 11:26 PM) My predictions on where the 3 Cuban players will sign Cespedes - Marlins Soler - Cubs Concepcion- Yankees. I hope that the Sox sign Soler & Concepcion Cespedes- Cubs Soler - Red Sox Concepcion - White Sox
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 08:55 AM) No doubt about it. Prince's 6.4 WAR in '09 was a fluke and will never be matched again despite the fact he's 27. He's been anywhere from a 6.0 WAR or a 4.0 WAR in his career. That averages out to 5.0 WAR per year. He has no speed, plays below average defense and plays 1B. He's also changing leagues. These are all hits to WAR value. 5.0 WAR for next year is generous.
  5. I don't think Sox fans truly realize just how much the players despised Ozzie last season. You are starting to hear it between the lines from guys like Peavy and Dunn, but trust me, it was there.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) And if he would have said that stuff, all we would have heard was b****ing about it being seasonal fluff. B.S. People want the guy to succeed. Sox fans want to like the guy. He's been a star pro athlete a long time. He knows the drill. For him to come off so casual after that epic disaster is intentional and fans are going to resent it. Bad move big guy.
  7. I've said it before here, I just don't think he's gonna recover much. He is not the player he was for whatever reason.
  8. Real inspiring stuff. This guy had a chance to come out an address the worst season in history for the money he was paid and he casually talks about how he's hit a little and hasn't lost weight and he's fine and whatever.... Enjoy the boos Donkey.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) Yes, I think as for as RH hitters go you've got the clear #1 in Pujols, followed closely by Miggy and then I'd say Braun. Miguel has never had this type of protection behind him before. He could have his best year yet. That whole "protection" concept has been disproven over and again.
  10. The Prince effect in Detroit?....2 WINS. Fielder is a 5 WAR player. V-Mart was a 3 WAR Player. That's an insane investment for 2 freaking wins next season.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) Hey, if you want to hold on to the "anything can happen in baseball" card be my guest. This is just ridiculous. You're talking the best pitcher and two of the top, what, 6 offensive forces in baseball in their primes on the same team. This is different than anything the division has had to contend with previously. It's hyperbole day.
  12. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) Impact on our White Sox...thinking KW signs Cespedes now that he has established residency. Kenny can't hold back from countering this move because in his head he is competing with the Tigers in 2012 and 2013.... also can't let Cubs outbid us...they are taking a shot at the sox with their new marketing (baseball is better during the day, our baseball is better) also can't let the marlins take ozzie, buehrle, and cespedes from us... i think kenny overpays to get him. The WORST thing KW could do is try and counter the Tigers right now with anything other than improving the system with high ceiling, cost-controlled talent.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) Have you guys not seen a Spring Training before? Or been familiarized with what these NRI's are used for? Yeah of course, I'm just kidding. I'm actually looking forward to seeing C.J. Retherford,.. I mean Tyler Kuhn.
  14. Wow, that is one serious list of baseball roadkill.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) http://www.southsideasylum.com/2012/01/tra...-sun-times.html NotHawk translates his answers. Brilliant.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) Except its not really if you look at it. Fpr example, he said the OF defense was bad, three of those guys are back this year in Rios, Viciedo, and De Aza. He even mentioned De Aza shouldn't be a CF, that he'd be better in LF. He said that about Rios, not De Aza.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Why? History paints a dismal picture for those three-true-outcome players who have seasons this far below their typical rates.
  18. Dunn's season was a perfect storm. Conditioning was well down the list of what was wrong. There is more reason to think he's declining than 2011 was an aberration.
  19. Floyd is proven in the AL. Oswalt is not. Floyd would cost more in terms of added prospects.
  20. QUOTE (Cubano @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Greetings and Salutations, Cespedes first bomb in Quisquella Stadium which is supposed to be a big stadium. I hope the Tank does well for you. From the set-up, load, swing and showboat that was very Andruw Jones-esque.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 29, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) The main reason Ozzie disliked Swisher from what the media reported is that Ozzie felt Swisher was selfish for pouting that he was losing out on at bats to Wise while the team was in a pennant race. BTW, if anybody saw the film "Moneyball" there is a not-so-subtle reference to Swisher ala "Jeremy Giambi" that was straight out of the 2008 White Sox clubhouse. Brilliant.
  22. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) Big Jim thinks Dunn is not done. He also thinks Beckham will thrive under Ventura. I agree. Thome Confident Dunn Will Rebound Thome makes the important point that he was told "you are the DH" and he embraced it and excelled. The first thing Ventura did was tell the public Dunn will play the field more. Not good.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) If a player is willing to go this far, then a big number of players on the team feel a lot more strongly than that. From what I've heard Ozzie was practically despised by much of the organization including the players by the end of last season.
