  1. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) My Red Sox source told me that, this could be a 5 to 6 player trade. With either Danks or Floyd along with Quentin to the Red Sox and some of the players that KW wants back is Reddick, Ranaudo, Igelsias and Doubront. he also said that they been working on this all day.. No to all those guys if it were me. Kalish and Lavarnway are better long-term options, IMO.
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) I saw that, too. What does anyone know about Red Sox prospects? The good ones are in S.D. Bottom-heavy system. Middlebrooks is a projected everyday 3B. Defense first. Couple of decent pitchers. If KW deals to Boston it's going to be for A/AA arms.
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:38 AM) I wouldn't doubt it if we discussed something like this with the Reds: Chisox send: Q, Danks, Thornton Reds send: Grandal, Alonso, Baily, +2 pitching prospects That's an insane overvalue of Sox players. Never happen.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 01:23 AM) The more I read about Molina and talk to people, the less I am liking this deal. It appears Sickel was the only person very high on Molina, and a lot of people seem to not respect his opinion in the baseball community. Goldstein said Molina would be about #10 or #11 in Jays system, and was apparently #18 on Baseball America's unofficial Jays rankings. Makes me wonder if Molina was really as "untouchable" as Jays fans thought, or if AA was just trying to drive up the perceived value of him and when he made this deal made Kenny feel like he got AA to "cave in" to letting go of Molina, but really never thought as highly of him as he lead on. I don't know, it just worries me how many people think he may just be a reliever, and the fact that most of his success comes from A-ball. Dont get caught up in the rankings game. Jays have the deepest system in baseball. What matters is one of the key guys responsible for that system works for us now and loves Molina.
  5. Haul for Gio will be very nice and more than Danks. Lots of action on him right now. Loser of Gio derby calls KW back. Danks doesn't move until after Gio.
  6. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:34 AM) Phil Rogers said a few weeks ago that Santos was being shopped to other teams, so if he knew its hard to believe not the rest of the league knew about it.. Rodgers is an idiot. He didn't say the Sox were shopping him. He said teams were calling about him. BIG difference.
  7. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) Is anyone else concerned with the Sun article when they talked about Santos? They mentioned that the Os would have been in on him as well but didn't know he was available. Um, if we're going to flip him, shouldn't we let it be known he was available to get the best possible offer? He was not being shopped. Jays have chased him for a while now.
  8. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) The Red Sox have some 'nice' prospects. Someone like Alex Wilson...doesn't really project as a #1 starter or anything, but is a very solid prospect and I could see middle of the rotation potential. They have several others like him...I've seen Wilson pitch and I like him. Casey Kelly is a higher ranked prospect, but I don't know much about him. I also like Josh Reddick. I love how he commands the plate and has a cannon in the outfield. The Sox really have no right fielders if CQ is moved. Reddick would slot in nicely in RF for the next 5+ years. In Boston, not sure he has a spot so he could be a moveable piece. Would love to work a deal to get Reddick + pitching prospect (a Wilson type). Wilson is decent. Kelly was one of the centerpieces of Gonzo deal. Fell off a lot last season. Reddick is nice player. If the Sox could pick up Reddick/Wilson that would be a very nice haul. Not happening though unless it's for Danks+TCQ or some kind of variance. BOS is one of the few teams that I believe would deal quality for Danks as they have a nice shot at resigning him. Dont know if there is interest there though.
  9. Red Sox/ White Sox talking about TCQ. I dont like Red Sox pitching prospects anywhere near as much as Baltimore's.
  10. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:22 PM) I don't know. You think people maybe think Danks is a more proven pitcher? Has post season mettle and has pitched his entire career thus far in a tough park for pitchers. Gio, while having electric stuff, hasn't done it but for 1 year plus he did it in Oakland (pitcher friendly park). A move of Danks better yield a very nice haul. Danks could easily slot into the #2 or #3 spot in nearly any rotation and be counted on. Gio had a very nice 2010 as well. Very close to last season. -Under control. Key issue for many teams. IMO, Danks is not a #2. He's a solid #3.
  11. Gio Gonzalez is haunting KW at these meetings. Compromising Danks' value for sure.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) Sox website has Molina as its #2 prospect behind Addison Reed. No doubt. #3 is a long fall from there...
  13. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) I'm not sold on Tillman. I figured Britton to untouchable. Bridwell isn't bad. High upside, but pretty risky. Tillman is still very young. Needs a change of scenery. Britton likely untouchable (but certainly who KW asked for) Bridwell has a heavy sinker that KW loves.
  14. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 07:09 PM) I'm not sure the Orioles match up well with the White Sox. I also wonder if Coop is angling for a Matusz to fix. Sox and Orioles could match up very well. Baltimore has a lot of what the Sox want now -young upside pitching. MLB guys like Britton, Tillman, or system talent like Parker Bridwell.
  15. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) Cubs could be the mystery team. Joel Sherman said the Cubs are very much into the Pujols sweepstakes No way.
  16. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) I bet its Texas Angels.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Because it is still in the FO's plans to bring him back. I have firsthand knowledge that this is part of their plan granted some team doesnt give him 4 years at 15 million. But hey, continue with your statements. Just hours after I stated the Sox aren't going to resign MB, Kenny Williams publicly stated today the Sox don't expect to resign Buehrle as the market obviously wont allow it. It's not gonna happen. But hey continue with your statements.
  18. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) He didn't hit any better when he played 1B either. Cant compare sporadic starts to years of every day. He was toast by then. There is no way around this huge problem. 1B is PK. Everybody knows that.
  19. Chill on the predictable "WTF!!!" reactions to a new manager's comment on December freaking 6th. The only way to explain Dunn's historical performance last season is he can't DH.
  20. "Elite" Sergio is gonna love those AL East lefty hitters...
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) Not if Alexei is included That might work.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) Is he really that fast? Yes. Super toolsy.
  23. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) The Giants are very interested in Quentin and Alexei... I could see the Sox moving Alexei at some point. He should command a very nice return.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) I could see KW falling in love with Gary Brown's speed and potential as leadoff hitter. Giants did trade their top pitching prospect last year for Beltran (Wheeler). Brown is practically untouchable.
