  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) You realize how few things it would take for this to be a 90 win team? A solid full season from John Danks A normal 30 HR season from Adam Dunn A decent season with the Bats from Beckham A decent season with the bats from Rios A decent season by Jake Peavy Juan Pierre being able to field and occasionally steal a base If just 2 of those things had happened, this team would be in first place right now and on pace for 90. Which is why totally blaming KW for this atrocious season is ridiculous.
  2. Hit a HR - sit down young man. One of the greatest traditions of the Ozzie era.
  3. I'd bet Ozzie bats Rios and his .566 OPS against Verlander clean up and also plays Dunn tonight. Sorry boys, but this weekend is gonna kill whatever hopes you have left...
  4. When he's not publicly leveraging his boss for more money, he's insulting his team's chances against a divisional rival in a pennant race. Seriously, how much longer do we have to endure this idiot?!
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) For the love of god, let our next GM pick his own manager. If Reinsdorf hires LaRussa and promotes Hahn, then there's a high probability of organizational dysfunction in the near future. After all the KW/Ozzie bulls***, isn't this something we'd like to avoid? Also, what's the odds that Hahn gets the GM job if KW is let go. I'd have to think 90% or so. I just don't see Reinsdorf looking outside the organization, unless he feels that Hahn is partly responsible for this mess and wouldn't bring enough change from KW. IMO, KW will be bumped upstairs to Pres. and Hahn would take over as GM.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/09/olne..._medium=twitter Rethink the thread title. The comment doesn't say execs believe both could be gone. It reads that the belief is both won't be back. Not neither one will be back.
  7. In the name of all that is holy, please JR, FIRE OZZIE!
  8. In the 2011 Torture Sox world of Ozzie vs Kenny, the Knight Sox never really stood a chance. De Aza sits today for Rios (with a freaking OFF DAY tomorrow) AJ will supplant Flowers starting Friday in DET. All that's left to do is play Dunn and sit Viciedo in DET and the season will appropriately waterboard us all out of contention for good.
  9. OMFG. Sitting ADA for Rios has got to be F@cking joke. Tell me this is a joke!!
  10. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) De Aza real good game . 2 hits, sac bunt, stole 3rd to set up the sac fly by Flowers, nice running catch coming in on a ball in the early innings. Alexei with the tag up on a fly to center then scoring on the infield hit too. Viciedo 1st to 3rd on a De Aza single and a stolen base. Ozzie ball by the kids ! Please stop calling this "Ozzieball". Ozzieball is wasting precious outs and playing overpaid, under-performing losers out of position and slotted into detrimental lineups designed around no statistical logic.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Hope DV plays tonight. Nah. He hit a HR yesterday. See: ADA benched yesterday...
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) Ozzie Guillen is Terry Bevington with more talented players. So based on past managing, Viciedo should expect to sit tomorrow. You go Oz.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 07:09 PM) Yeah I just remembered the one vs. KC a couple weeks ago after I posted that. I tried to hurry up and delete that post, lol This one today was pretty impressive. Flowers is the guy ATL didn't want to part with these days. How good does that Javy trade look right now?
  14. Dunn has cost this team 6 wins this season. The Sox are 6 wins out of 1st place.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Flowers's first career MLB home run was a grand slam. His second, actually.
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 06:48 PM) Im sure itll be on the score in a little bit. Basically he doesnt give a **** about what we have to say(asked about Viciedo). I'm glad he's pissed and defensive. Viciedo made him look like the idiot he is today in a big way today.
  17. DeAza, Flowers and Viciedo have all been so impressive so far. If only this franchise had the foresight and self-scouting to know what they had wasting away in AAA this season the way so many of us on this board did.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) I used to say things like this, and now I don't know. What happened to him? This may deserve its own thread discussion. The league adjusted, he didn't.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Extremely talented guys can take time to get "it" at the major league level, especially without a lot of minor league at bats. A guy like Alex Gordon is a great example. Good call. ^
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) You're basing this on what exactly? A stellar AAA career? Based on his proven success at every level including MLB. He's not consistent offensively yet, but he's had stellar stretches for months at at time in both his first two seasons. This season he's regressed and his plate discipline has fallen off. Doesn't mean he's a bust. Not even close. His swing is long and he's chasing. Happens to the better hitters all the time. I think he's an above average defender that should hit at a .750+ OPS clip for his career. That's a quality 2B.
  21. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Guys most likely to get dealt IMO are obviously Danks and CQ...but I'd put Beckham right at the top of that list of players to be dealt. It feels like the Cubs Part II being stuck with these albatross contracts of Rios and Dunn...geez. Not happening. Beckham will be fine.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) Despite my saying the Sox aren't out of it, a few days ago when they were 5 back with 5+ weeks to play... history was still against them, they had maybe a 10% chance. Now they are 7 back with less than 5 weeks to play, so now we're probably 5% or less. Pitchers having major reconstructive surgeries, this is a pattern that has repeated itself many times. Is it a guarantee? No. But I feel one heck of a lot more confident in Peavy getting back close to form, than I do the Sox winning the division. The Sox are chasing the team that lost the Division Championship with a 3 game lead with 4 games to go remember?
  23. Trade Danks to FLA for Logan Morrison (LF) Trade CQ & Thornton to BOS for Josh Reddick (OF) or Jed Lowrie (3B). That should free up funds. Rotation: Buehrle Floyd Sale Peavy Stewart
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_cws Hey Jake...Shut Up already!
