QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) You've really done a 180 in the last week or so, huh? Do you blame me?!
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Fortunately there is The only thing Kenny did worse than assembling this team is deciding not to dismantle it!
-
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) Dunn's struggles almost seem unprecedented. I mean, there are bad seasons, and then there's.....this. Dunn literally looks like they pulled some beer league dude out of the stands because he won a Face CC Contest.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) And that will conclude the Sox scoring portion of our show to tonight. Please stay tuned for the Yankees encore. BUMP from 4 innings ago. LOL.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) I'm fairly confident that Ozzie is trying to get Peavy killed out there. He's also determined to destroy any effectiveness for the remainder of Crain's contract.

And Frodo instead of simply dropping down a sac bunt decides to time out Sabathia for a "surprise" drag bunt. These idiots are literally hilarious these days.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) Lextacular! Best 2 swings in weeks for Lexi. And that will conclude the Sox scoring portion of our show to tonight. Please stay tuned for the Yankees encore.

Kenny was all set to blow up this disaster of a roster, but then the boys go on an 8-4 push out of the break. Convinced the team is finally going to turn it around, KW dumps a bit of payroll and leaves the team intact. What a f@cking mess.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) I don't worry about Indians. The Tigers to me just seem to be the class of the division after they made a few moves to improve some of their weak areas. The Tigers are the Cubs of the AL. They are so gonna choke again. I love how the kids like DeAza, Morel, Flowers make things happen lately when they are lucky enough to break the lineup and the Front Office can't see what needs to be done. Lol. These recent wins could be such longterm poison for this franchise. Hilarious.

And in true Torture Sox fashion today will be the day the team starts to fall out if the race...

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 10:58 PM) If any moves are made to trade for a starter then they need to fire Kenny right on the spot. Seriously, you had 6 starters then a few days later after you trade one you need another starter. Now I know Kenny loves moving prospects out the door but for the love of god. What part of needing to move Jackson and Teahen to save $10M has anything to do with wanting more SP depth?

Rios for Lowe. Do it now!!

Said it in his post game presser After tonight's inexcusable performance AND what KW said publicly just days ago...? This team just insists on killing any kind of momentum. On the field and off.

Tonight's loss may lead Williams to start trading players

QUOTE (Soxnews @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) Williams has announced that Gavin Floyd as well as John Danks can also be considered available going into the trade deadline. How can two of the White Sox's five quality starters be available? Matt Thornton, another vital reliever for the White Sox is also in danger of being traded. Read more at my blog that follow's the White Sox all season long, focusing on rumors and important games. http://whitesoxnews.blogspot.com/ Not happening. Put this in the spam thread, mods... -
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) I don't buy it. It's hard to take anything KW says at face value regarding trades. Will just wait and see. Quentin to ATL is all but dead. Braves unwilling to move quality prospects. Thornton to TEX is all but dead. Tex about to acquire Uehara. Danks off the table.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) From the Post Dispatch after the trade... Scouting Report on Edwin Jackson, the Cardinals new starting pitcher: I really don't think people realize how much Jackson improved during his time with the Chicago White Sox. Pitching coach Don Cooper made a positive impact. In 131 career starts before joining the White Sox, Jackson had a 4.68 ERA. In 30 starts with the White Sox, Jackson's ERA was 3.66. His strikeout rate went up. His ground-ball rate improved. His rate of baserunners per nine innings fell. His rate of allowing home runs decreased. His walk rate went down ... According to STATS, Jackson's fastball has averaged 94.5 mph this season. And his sharp slider averages 87 mph... Jackson had a 3.02 ERA in his last 8 starts for the White Sox ... against RH batters, Jackson almost exclusively throws the fastball and slider .... against LH batters, he mixes in a changeup ... his best swing-and-miss pitch is the slider; batters have whiffed on it 34.5 percent of the time... batters are hitting only .240 against the slider.... Jackson's ground-ball rate, which was stuck at around 50 percent in the middle of his career, has jumped to 63 percent this season. Read more: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/ber...l#ixzz1TbxbgX1w And he'll work wonders for Zach Stewart as well. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) We'd be lucky to get 2 prospects from #6-10. I don't think we're going to get anything close to 3-4-5 guys unless we're trading multiple players. The Pence trade involved really high upside guys, but ones with question marks that were probably 2+ or 3 years away from the majors. It's much more important for KW to get at least AA prospects that are within a season of Chicago. +1 ^. ATL is not gonna surrender anybody better than Hoover + AA + A for Quentin.
-
QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) Stewart is NOT a starting pitcher in the bigs at this point. AT BEST he's another useful arm in the bullpen in middle relief. This guy does not have good secondary stuff and his fastball isn't good enough for him to be a one-pitch pitcher. He needs work, it's laughable to think he could be installed into our rotation as a replacement for Danks. Not replacing Danks but he could absolutely be a 5th starter.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 11:39 AM) Scouting Report: Reddick is a naturally-gifted athlete that can put the bat on the ball. He's a contact hitter with a quick bat and very good present power. He has a sweet-looking uppercut swing - starts with his hands held high then brings them low-and-up through the zone. Creates good lift on the ball when he turns on it. An aggressive hitter at the plate, he needs to improve his plate discipline. He swings at a lot of balls off the plate, and he can also get pull-happy on occasion. Needs to work on hitting to all fields. Has shown some resistance to the Sox disciplined approach, but his pitch recognition and approach have improved after some seasoning. His frame is athletic and lean, with some potential to fill out. If he adds strength to his wiry frame, there's not much limit to his power potential. In the field, Reddick has above-average range to go along with excellent arm strength and outstanding accuracy. Great hustle, always goes all out. Reads the ball well coming off the walls. Can play all three OF positions well, probably best suited for right field. Some scouts have commented that Reddick has the range to be a full time major league center fielder. Perfect Greg Walker candidate. How can we mess him up? Joking, Dick Allen. He threw and absolute seed to 2B last night from the warning track. Amazing.
-
I've been calling for Reddick for months around here. He's a toolsy kid with huge upside. It would likely take both MT & QUENTIN in a larger package deal both ways to get him.
-
Thornton for Holland? Do it! Holland is young but a horse. He's got 2 complete game shut outs this season.
-
Quentin to the Braves is slowing down. Kenny is asking for the world and ATL is looking elsewhere.
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) But is Atlanta willing to part with any of their top prospects? The best they'll offer for CQ is likely Beachy + Hoover + low-level P/OF.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) Barry Rozner said on the radio today that he thinks the Sox will offer yet another extension, but Danks has no interest and wants to hit FA. Barry Rozner makes Phil Rodgers look like a genius.

If Sox trade Quentin, they are demanding players back who can help right now since they're only 2 back in loss column. Once Pence goes, White Sox would listen to losers in Pence derby to see if any fit.
