QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Cowley knows the Sox are about to make another trade so he's trying to preempt with negative spin on whatever move is about to be made. You got it. I think TCQ may have played his last game for the Sox...

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
macsandz replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The White Sox DID NOT & DO NOT want Colby Rasmus. There was a deal with the Cards to acquire him if they wanted but they declined. Rasmus exemplifies exactly what this team is steering clear of going forward and I applaud that: La Russa was asked whether Rasmus is listening and responded tartly. "Well, he's listening to somebody," the manager said. Asked whether Rasmus is listening to the Cardinals' coaches, he was more direct. "No, he doesn't listen to the Cardinal coaches much now, and that's why he gets in these funks, in my opinion," La Russa said. -

White Sox as a franchise and the 2011 dilemma
macsandz replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) Miraculously this team is still in the race. But, it's cross-roads time for the White Sox and if this team wants to make the post-season, tough decisions have to be made. I'm not talking about "buyers or sellers" at the trade-deadline and hoping to find a team willing to make that all important deal. I'm talking about OZ, KW and JR sitting down and changing the direction of this team for a 60 game 2011 season. This is not some pipe-dream panic scramble. This is as simple as two roster moves that could be made in a couple phone calls. Today. This was to be a season of "all in" and the franchise promoted that to the public as it's 2011 motto. While that effectively described the 2011 OFF-SEASON, it has yet to be implemented during the season by management. As we all know this team's offense has underachieved greatly through the first 100 games and the highest paid players are most responsible. If this team wants to make a push and reach the postseason, it's time to enforce the "all in" approach and make some difficult choices. The challenge is in front of not only the players and management, but also lies in front of executive-level personnel as well. The dilemma is this: Continue with the roster as-is and hope that players that have drastically underachieved somehow turn their seasons around OR Reduce playing time for under-performers regardless of salary, and move forward with players that have the best chance of helping the team win NOW. My solution? Bench Dunn and Rios for Viciedo and DeAza for the next several series. (send down Morel and DL Dunn (knee) or Rios (toe)) That's extended playing time in games against the best in the AL as well as key rivals that could potentially make all the difference in how this team finishes 2011. Not sit Dunn and Rios for a few games and work them back into the lineup. I'm talking about brining up young, motivated players that have MLB experience and have played at a very high level all season in Charlotte. We don't need miracle production from Viciedo and DeAza, just play their game at replacement level and this team would be better immediately. Will Reinsdorf put his mouth where his money is and allow high-priced, low production players to collect a check on the bench? Will Ozzie put his money where his mouth is and step away from being the "player's manager"? Will Kenny put his ego in check and perform the duties of an actual GM with or without his Manager's "approval?" This is a lot to ask. This would be bold baseball. This would be that gamble consistant with the poker metaphor the Sox have been referencing all season. This is what needs to be done. Afterall, we've all played poker and "all in" is ALL IN. KW to Ozzie last night (6/26) "Do not worry about the size of the contracts, worry about putting the players out there that can HELP YOU WIN." Thank You Kenny for doing what needs to be done. Now let's do this thing. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) This is nonsense. If it's true, I am ready for this regime to be through. But I'd bet about $5000 it's bs. I'll take that bet. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) I don't believe this for one f***ing second. There is too much of a market out there for EJax right now. So don't believe it. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:32 PM) Source please Trust me. Good source. -
Jackson and Teahen going to Toronto for Frasor and a minor leaguer...DeAza coming up from minors... No idea WTF this is about...
-
And Ozzie will run JFP back out there to face the heart of the order that is looking fastball. No chance Jake gets outta the 6th with lead. OK. Horse beaten. Point made.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:34 PM) Nice comeback inning by Peavy. More to do with Tigers hitters and luck than Jake. He's toast tonight.
-
5 innings / One run. Thanks Jake. You qualified for the win. Have a seat, Jethro.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) Bottom of the order helps. But bullpen needs to be up to start the inning. They won't be but thy should be. Why is is so tough for the dude coming off major surgery to have a pitch count in a huge game like this? Our bullpen has been brilliant for weeks now.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) I bet Lilli gets DFA'd Later Frodo.
-
I'll telling you guys whatever Jake gave us tonight was great, but he's gonna run outta gas this inning.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) Verlander has quite a bit to do with it. It happens almost every game.
-
QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) Haha I agree we can't keep him out there just bcuz it's the 4th inning if it's a 1 run gm and you have Humber in the pen tonight you bring him in Ozzie doesn't think like this. He and Cooper are afraid of Peavy.
-
No way this team scores another run off of Zoolander tonight. Which makes pitcher management all the more important. Ozzie's biggest weakness.
-
I just hate how we know that Jake just blows after 70 pitches and Humber is in the bullpen and we just know Ozzie has no idea what he needs to do here. We are leading one of the best pitchers in MLB. We are completely hopeless at adding on. GET THE BULLPEN UP!! ..not gonna happen and we'll all regret it soon enough.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) I think Guillen popped out on the slider And it was not a good one.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) He NEVER has a slider anymore. Still stunned how it went from maybe best slider in baseball to below average. Unprecedented, major surgery perhaps?
-
Peavy right at the 70 pitch mark when he crashes HARD.
-
I'd like to see a mound visit here just to break it up...
-
Nice play by JP. Zero effort by Rios.
-
Jake just has no kinda slider tonight. Not gonna fool MC or VM.
-
Cabrera knows what the Sox are trying to do here...
