QUOTE (oldsox @ May 31, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) Josh Fields was picked up on waivers by Brewers last week.. His stats at Colo Springs were .383/.458/.677/1.135. Check out Jayson Nix' Colo Spring statsback in the day....303/.373/.591/.964

QUOTE (T R U @ May 31, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) Its getting close to time to make a decision.. Trade Jackson. I'm sure Kenny is trying, as Cooper and the staff are not a fan of him at all anymore. He's fallen out of favor fast and once you're out with these guys, you're out.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 31, 2011 -> 01:21 PM) I'd normally want Danks going in a must-win game, but that apparently isn't the case right now. I'd have to say Peavy or Humber at the moment. I'm going with Peavy every time.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2011 -> 10:01 AM) There's no reason to be bunting before the 7th inning in the AL. Bunting at Fenway against this Boston offense so early in the game is just giving up outs and letting pitcher off the hook. Bunting before Juan Pierre is silly, as he rarely hits ball far enough for a sac fly. YES!! Simple Logic!
-
QUOTE (BearSox @ May 30, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) Anyone with any idea of baseball knows that bunting there was a stupid call. Lester just walked two in a row, and started morel off 2 and 0. There is no reason for any manager to keep the bunt sign on there, especially with Juan on deck. Ozzie got really lucky he didn't cost us this game, even though he tried. +1 Yep. Totally let Lester off the hook.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) When the Sox were 11-22, I said get back to 43-43 by the end of interleague play on July 3rd. They need to go 18-12. Doable, and if it happens, they'll be right where they need to be. Indians are going backwards. Indians are 4-6 in their last 10. Downward Spiral.
-
So our fearless leader once again gave away an out by calling for a stupid sac bunt again tonight that killed an inning. Ozzie leads all AL managers in calling for both sac bunts and int walks. This is LOSING baseball. The three teams in MLB that have sac bunted the least? 1st place Indians 1st place Red Sox 1st place Diamondbacks Idiot.

Sox vs BoSox Memorial Day Game Thread 5-30-11
macsandz replied to Soxfest's topic in 2011 Season in Review
This thread should be closed in honor of having no chance to win this game. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) Well, then it's difficult to fault him IMO. If you look at the rosters he's given Ozzie to work with over the last 6 seasons, we should have many more division titles and playoff series' wins to speak of. Agreed.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) He adds 2-3 players a year at basically no cost that turn out to be above-average players. If you look around at other organizations, he does this as well as anyone. This vaunted Twins system you speak of...does it really ultimately produce anything more than what we are able to produce? You and others like to rag on the farm system all the time, but we ultimately produce the same outcome through other means, via trades, waivers, or international free agent signings. We can go down the list and pull out cost-controlled players we have acquired that will basically match or exceed what other organizations are producing. There has been plenty of talent here over the years to win division title after division title, and to advance deep into the playoffs. The problem is the execution on the field. And honestly, I have a hard time pinning that on Kenny. Maybe he isn't getting the chemistry right, perhaps that is his biggest fault But in my opinion, the players have been there, we just aren't getting it done on the field. I blame that on the players first and Ozzie second. Designing a team around some kind if mythical "chemistry" is ridiculous. You win games - you get chemistry. That's it.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 29, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) Need a split! No chance. Good lefty pitcher? Done.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 28, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) WHY is OG covering 2b witha LH batter makes no sense! Great question...? No idea what the "heads up" "intelligent" Vizquel was doing there.

Later Thornton you peice of sh*t.

Matt Thornton is here to help...
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 28, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) lol Lilli And for all the complaints about Edwin, when the Sox got him a lead he held it for them. How many of our sp's have seemingly given up runs right after we score? Uh, not many. They've been great for weeks...
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) THE STEALTH ELF STRIKES AGAIN! He's an athlete.
-
SO HOW WILL MATT THORNTON LOSE THIS GAME FOR US TODAY?
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 27, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) The quote mentions Humber by name, and it's a direct quote from Ozzie. What the hell are you talking about? The hell I'm talking about is I watched the interview from which the quote was pulled and Ozzie was speaking about any of the 6 candidates when referring to warm up time. It's even obvious in the article. Read it again.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 27, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...own-in-pen.html Kill me now. Yeah, let's put our best starter in the pen that will help this club win more games. So so so stupid. I don't care he isn't yet established, but moving him while he is going strong is just dumb. If he goes out and gets bombed the next two starts, that would be more acceptable, but for Ozzie to talk about this s*** now just shows what a moron he is. Is it possible for our idiot manager to just say nothing and say we'll cross that bridge when we get to it? And on a sidenote, how many more starts did Juan Pierre buy himself with a lucky ass game-winning single? BTW, Ozzie's quote was NOT a direct reference to Humber, but you guys seem to love to freak out, so have at it.
-
QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ May 27, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) At the end of the game last night, I noticed a graphic on the right field wall in Toronto that showed Edwin's picture and said he was warming in the pen? Did anyone else notice that? Maybe that is a precursor of what is to come? It was Jackson's day to side session that's why he was up. I do predict that Jackson will be the odd man out -as he should be. Put that electric stuff in the pen where he can feature that 100 mph gas.

QUOTE (T R U @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:42 AM) were only 7 out in the win column The Indians magic number is 108...

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 25, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Good luck to our crap team in Toronto and Boston. I hope for the best. We shall see. The crap team whose message board you live on.

This game has a Tony Pena loss feel to it.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Adam Dunn's lack of a single hit against a left-hander is a funny statistic. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6763/s...g4UPla9pdeFCLcF 0-30, baby! If he's any where near the lineup tonight that's a f*cking joke.

As a team against lefties this season: .227/.305/.323/.628 Oh my lord, that is just brutal.
