  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 23, 2011 -> 11:31 PM) Is that even possible? He's seemed to have gotten worse as the season progressed. Aside from a few bad games he's actually had a good month at the dish and his defense has been well above average all season.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 23, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) John Danks has 6 quality starts which is the same amount as Jon Lester who has 6 wins, while part of this has to do with the performance of the pitchers (though Danks actually had a lower FIP coming into today) there's also the fact that Lester is getting over 5 runs of support more than Danks while in the game (3.39 r/s for Danks is the lowest in baseball, 8.48 for Lester is the 6th highest). Both pitchers have 10 starts this season and Danks has actually thrown about 3 more innings than Lester so it's not the length of outings (they both have 4 outings with 7+ IP, Danks has 3 of 8+ and Lester only 1). The Sox have scored 25 runs in John Danks' 10 starts this season and over a quarter of those runs came in one game. Baseball's a funny, sadistic game. Great stuff as always, Kalapse.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 23, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) That's cute, Gordon. Let's put together a solid week before we declare ourselves out of a slump, though. OK? Thanks. That's cute, Mr. Perfect as Beckham has a .790 OPS in May.
  4. 5-0-1 in their past 5 series. That is getting it done.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ May 21, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) Why does it seem like Dunn is at 1B whenever Buehrle is pitching? Doesn't make any sense. Oh, and maybe we can pitch around Kemp today? Pitch around Jamie freaking Carroll.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 20, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) Where oh where have you gone, Gordon Beckham... come July or so he'll finally show up too little too late. Like Alexei Ramirez's first few starts with us except for like 80 games. Minutes later, Beckham hits a 2-Run HR.
  7. Indians are falling back. 6-6 in their last 12. Royals had just lost 5 in a row. The Tigers are about to get swept in BOS to fall to .500 and MIN is,...bad. This division is so winnable for the Sox if they just play like they have recently.
  8. Eat it all you doubters that have been b*tching about the guy since last season. He's an Ace and you better recognize.
  9. As of today the Sox aren't chasing anything but .500 and their own potential.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) I don't care how many games we gain on Cleveland right now. I care only about how many we gain on .500. Get me to .500 first then I will start looking at the record. This^ +++1
  11. Sox are 7-3 in the last 10. 3-0-1 in last 4 series. They are playing better and don't need some insane run to compete with more than 4 months left in the season.
  12. Taking two would be nice, but these games are not even close to make or break either way. The idea of must wins in May is ridiculous.
  13. In his two starts against the White Sox since 2008, Harrison has thrown 14 scoreless innings in winning both. He had one of the best outings of his career in his last start against Chicago, tossing a four-hitter in a 6-0 win at U.S. Cellular Field on May 8, 2009. The White Sox are averaging 2.6 runs while batting .205 in their last 11 games on the South Side, with Adam Dunn hitting .083, Gordon Beckham .167 and Paul Konerko .194. Should be fun...?
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ May 17, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) Purchased the contract of Dallas McPherson. Um...OK...?
  15. QUOTE (Real @ May 16, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Is Beckham the biggest bust of all the top 10 picks in the 2008 draft? Horrible baseball player. Someone forgot to tell the Sox front office that you have to be able to swing a bat in order to stay in the big leagues. Gordon forgot how the baseball bat works Beckham in May - 297/.357/.459 Good call.
  16. It's a 2-0 game in the 5th. You guys need to relax. Good Lord.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 16, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) Because when you boo Pierre then he'll know exactly why fans are unhappy. Torches and pitchforks for everyone!
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 16, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Agreed. I want DV up here badly, but Oz is 100% right that he needs to play every day when he's called up. Now, that should be the case, but since it appears it wouldn't be right now he does need to keep playing in Charlotte. Reasoning is awful, but calling him up just to sit the bench would just be another mistake. Somewhat unrelated, I just read through some of the original Pierre trade thread out of curiosity...definitely some interesting posts in there. Ozzie's logic is insane here. This team has underachieved to an embarrassing degree. It's beyond obvious that Pierre is killing this team and the answer is crushing the ball in AAA. The privilege of pride belongs to teams at or above .500...
  19. For this team to truly evolve into it's potential the Sox need to work Viciedo into the everyday lineup in RF, move CQ back to LF and bench the hell out of Pierre. This roster is a work in progress in the same way Santos as closer was a move on the fly. That's working out pretty damn well. The next step is getting AJ DP out of the every day lineup.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) Should have called for a slider instead of the change-up. Santos has neither today so far... Not good feeling here
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) Ok Sergio, make the A's look awful. Make them look like the White Sox against Weurtz. This game has that stupid impossible bad luck feel to it...
  22. So how is Crisp gonna torture this team in the 9th? If he gets on just put him at 2nd.
  23. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 15, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Matt Thornton to start in the 8th? If Ozzie wants to lose the game!
