  1. As long as Pierre and AJ are any kind of core players on this squad the Sox will be the among the worst defensive teams in MLB. It's unreal just how bad those two are. Keep talking about how important defense is Ozzie.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2011 -> 12:08 PM) This would be a big win. Coming home 6-3 on this trip. Beating the A's when Cahill starts. Could be wet out there today too, so hopefully the rain helps us more than it hurts us. I'll take wins any way we can get them. Agreed. Hate to say it but the Sox have no chance against Cahill. It'll be another flat offensive dud effort filled with pop-ups and strike outs. 5-4 trip will have to do.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) have to take the rubber match tomorrow. I'll take a 6-3 west coast trip. Take a look at who they're facing tomorrow. Needed to win this one today.
  4. Beltran in 2011: .282 .380 .513 .892. Uh, yeah a slight upgrade over Pierre... Back to reality, Sox should look to acquire Josh Reddick from the Red Sox for the future in the OF.
  5. Juan Pierre is sabermetrically the WORST player in MLB right now.
  6. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ May 12, 2011 -> 12:25 AM) TWO Series in a row! That was a VERY fun win. Jake back! Come back! Paully behind the back!! The Sox are BACK! 99% of this board wen to sleep think the Sox lost this game...
  7. I think Jake will do well tonight. He's gonna be amped and out of the zone a bit but if he can settle down he should be effective. The Angels can't hit RHP like they do lefties. (Jeff freaking Gray?!)
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 10, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) With regards to his durability and actually making it through a season, sure. Jake Peavy has proven that he is 100 times the pitcher Phil Humber is. I don't care that Humber has looked good for a stretch of 40 innings because I can find countless examples of guys who have done that. It's a lot harder to find guys who have the resume that Jake Peavy does. When push comes to shove, Jake Peavy has to be in the rotation and if Phil Humber is the odd man out, then so be it. At that point, we would just have to hope that Ozzie wouldn't let him waste away pitching garbage innings because he's proven that he needs to atleast be given an opportunity to throw meaningful innings in whatever role he is in. +1. Good stuff.
  9. Don't let Kendrick beat you tonight...
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) If the team doesn't recover by June and someone will take aj, you don't worry about that. Half those pitchers will be leaving too Have you seen AJ's deferred contract? 2012 is a payday.
  11. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) I think that you have to keep A. J. to handle the pitching staff. Changing in mid season would be very problematical Castro could handle the job cabably, but he isn't up to catching the bulk of the schedule. AJ "handling the pitching staff" is such a myth. AJ is horrible at every aspect of baseball.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) and of course a trip to the south side has awoken the twins. sox better keep pace. BS. The Twins are garbage.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) Insert Brian Anderson into the line-up please!! 2 in one game. Highlight of his career. LOL.
  14. Over his last four starts against the White Sox, Hernandez has been excellent, allowing just two runs in over 30 innings pitched. Great way to start the big comeback...
  15. Pierre and AJ are KILLING this team this season.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) I was at the game on Tuesday and I swear they put on the scoreboard that Viciedo has a 10 game hitting streak and is hitting well over .300 during this stretch. If true, I think his hand was affecting him initially and now he's good to go. If it were up to me, I'd call up Viciedo in a heartbeat. The only reasons he was in AAA was there was no roster spot for him and people assumed his defense would need work. Everything I've seen has said his defense has been solid. Now that our offense is struggling immensely, we need to find a spot for him somewhere. Pierre is all but done IMO, so let Viciedo take over LF. Not only do you get more production out of LF, but you can stop giving your worst offensive player the most at-bats. Seems like a double win for me. Good call. +1
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2011 -> 07:56 AM) I've got no problem with Vizquel playing. Every time he's in there he makes things happen. Things like misreading a steal sign and forgetting to cover 1st on a bunt?!
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) Hey Paulie, i really enjoy you throwing your bat in disgust. I like it when AJ throws his bat better.
  19. And this game is over...The Sox won't have another hit today and they'll just roll up and die the next 3 innings. The left-for-dead-Twins playing as bad as they have in years, sweep the Sox and their resurgence shall begin. Pathetic and predictable.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) He's the perfect 3 hole hitter in front of those guys. He's not any kind of perfect hitter in front of anybody this season.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Wow, 3 hard hit balls 3 outs. f***ing snakebit. 2011 Sox BABIP is insanely low.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) That is one of the reasons we brought him in. Get him out of the 3 hole then.
  23. Dunn seems to think his job is to take a damn walk...
