QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Kotsay wouldn't have struck out. He would have laced a sweet grounder to 2nd. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 27, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) I dunno, Quentin seemed like he was at his best when he was at his angriest in 08. Remember that Twins series? Of course. I guess I mean less angry at himself. That might be a better way to put it.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 11:23 PM) I gotta say: since July of last year all I've been hearing from the pundits of sports talk is that Jake Peavy won't be ready until midseason (if ever - B&B) and yet you've said since the very beginning it seems that Peavy could -- or will -- be ready by around the beginning of the season and as of right now it looks like you're right on. If he stays on schedule, this is a great call on your part. I guess actual expertise wins out over idol speculation. I think it's funny how everyone everywhere keeps talking how this is "unprecedented" and therefore nobody thinks Jake will be ready nor should he be ready anytime soon. Well, if it's "unprecedented" than why is it so impossible that he couldn't fully recover by April?! People just love to panic, I guess... I'll second credit where it's due to ptatc...my favorite point he makes is Jake is not injured anymore. The media talks about him as if he is. -He's not!

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:08 AM) didn't see this posted, but there's a good chance i probably missed it if it was http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_...18&c_id=mlb long story short: same mechanics. his follow through doesn't have exactly the same 'whip' motion until later in the video where he does it Great find. Yeah, I give up trying to figure out why he's not adjusting his mechanics but I know if he HAD to he's gonna do it. So, I'm assuming it's OK with the team. The Sox are diligent as hell on that type of thing.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 12:45 AM) He's been a member of the White Sox organization since July 31st 2009. A pitcher averages about 5.33 starts a month, so Peavy would have made roughly 11 starts in 2009 and 32 starts in 2010. Instead, he made 3 and 17, so he's made 20 of 43 starts. That is not a good percentage. The bottom line is that he needs to stay healthy this year. Hopefully the work ethic and the big talk come to fruition and he wins a Cy Young. That'd be all right. No doubt. I think he's on his way to a nice season. PECOTA loves him for 2011...

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) Really excited to hear JFP is right on or ahead of schedule. I really hope he can have a normal career and give us some qulaity pitching but time will tell. I am concerned as we all probably are about his motion and how he can even alter it without it affecting his delivery. I guess we will see. He seems to be way ahead of any predicted schedule. But again, this is rather unprecedented in MLB terms. The guy has always been in great shape and he is only 29 years old. People talk as if he's 35 or something.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) Think about this: Jake Peavy has been a member of the White Sox organization for 573 days now and he's made a grand total of 20 starts. Crazy. Another fun fact: his WHIP and win percentage are better in a Sox uniform than in a Padres uni. AND his peripherals are nearly identical aside from his K/9 being down a full SO from his San Diego days. Aren't there months of offseason days in that 573 days figure...? How many in-season days (considering every 5th day) does that really represent? I mean I know the guy has been injured, but...

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) Prior's mechanics were horrible. Steve Stone offered to help adjust Prior's motion before he hurt himself, but got turned down flat. Prior's mechanics were advertised as "perfect" for years. -

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) I don't think so. Ozzie is going to want 2 lefties aside from his closer, and the odds are very, very good that one of Thornton and Sale is closing - I'd say around 98% that one of those two closes. And, for $1.5 mill this year and $2.5 mill next year, I'd rather have a 2nd (3rd) lefty that actually has pretty good stuff opposed to the s*** they've been throwing out there. 3 lefties in the pen is a huge advantage. I love it. -

QUOTE (T R U @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Not everyone is going to be good with the stick as well as in the field, Ill take the offense from him over the defense.. Yep. Me too. I don't need role players to be two way stars. Quentin is a run producer and a good one. Whatever he costs the team in RF he likely more than makes up for it at the plate.
-
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) Carlos Quinten was still somewhat of a God looking to repeat his 2008 form. If Quentin just does what he did in 2010 in this lineup, that's gonna work.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 12:03 AM) You are correct in this, but pretty ordinary offensively and good defensively was a big upgrade for the White Sox in CF and, really, is still pretty valuable overall, and then you do have to factor in that monstrosity of a May. Nobody is b****ing about Rios this winter. Several people have even indicated that they want him hitting 3rd. I think that's wrong, but to suggest that Rios is in anything but good graces is wrong. ...including Ozzie.... The pressure for offensive output for both Rios and Quentin is so much different with that Monster Donkey in the lineup this season. I also think Becks will have a huge season in 2011.

Any Ideas why Major Networks Dislike The Sox?
macsandz replied to Rooftop Shots's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The White Sox got more love from MLB Network than anybody when they featured the team on the doc series The Show. And Rod Allen is a tool and they were laughing at him because he was such a homer listing the Sox behind the Tigers. The reason? Allen went on to say the bullpen. He said Sale (4 saves last season) and Thornton (8 saves last season) have NO closing experience...way to be informed on national TV, buddy. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) From Merkin's mailbag http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...ws&c_id=cws "Remember, though, the White Sox really like the defense Brent Morel brings to the field every day, and they have not lost faith in Mark Teahen or Dayan Viciedo." I call BS. The Sox know Teahen and Viciedo are not MLB 3B and Merkin should stop publicly claiming they still have faith that they are.
