  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) Crain carried that bullpen after the ASB last year, and easily was one of their most important players. He had some filthy stuff during that span, as he made our hitters look foolish. Crain was unreal the 2nd half of last season. He was practically un-hittable. Slider from hell.
  2. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) Wonder if this is prior to the Crain signing or in addition. If it's the latter, then holy s**t; KW/Reinsdorf and company really want to win a World Series in 2011 Wood was offered before Crain was inked. Nothing to see here. Dead deal.
  3. Sox lose a pick with this signing...?
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) http://twitter.com/#!/pgammo/status/15222592562536448 Love this move. Love this off-season.

    Peavy

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Bingo. Count me in. But, ...Dan Hudson, Dan HUDSON, DAN HUDSON!!!!!!
  6. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports that the White Sox will listen to offers for Mark Buehrle. We've heard at one point or another about pretty much all of the White Sox rotation being on the market, as GM Kenny Williams has talked about having to be creative with his roster with the budget stretched to its limit. Buehrle is due $14 million on the last year of his contract, so we can't imagine the Sox would get a ton in return for him. Pointless. Nobody is gonna trade for Buehrle.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) That's 3 weeks ahead of schedule Peavy will be on the mound for the Sox in early May. He wants in on the action and ain't waiting until July.
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) I've heard JR similarly took over the Bulls coaching search. Wanted Thibodeau more than anyone else in the FO. Got him. Thibodeau barely got a look during the time of Del Negro's hiring, when the situation was more firmly in Paxson's hands (and when the Lebron-less stakes were far lower for a coach selection). Great point.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) yeah, I have a feeling KW told Jerry his Plan B/C etc. are ready to go but might not be there by Thursday/Friday, so he better come in and see if he can salvage it. Yes. ^ At this point JR wants PK back more than anybody else in the office.
  10. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Anything worth noting? No. I can't say there was.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) That was hilarious actually. I love Kenny. Kenny is awesome, but he's so f'n serious. Kenny likes to intimidate the media. That panel was not a good format for him today. He tried though, I'll give him that. Considering how frustrated he was this afternoon, he pulled it off I guess.
  12. So, Reinsdorf has now stepped into the negotiations to try and get a deal done. This thing is JR vs PK and KW is ready to move on...
  13. Replay of KW on MLB Network in a few...awkward interview
  14. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) Jon Morosi tweeted that the white sox and rays are looking at Accardo. Obviously we need bullpen help and its been rather predicited that he would be one of the names for KW to look it. Morosi tweeted it and I retweeted it, along with other sox news on twitter and from winter meetings http://twitter.com/joeynach Yuk. The Sox could sign him even with a big PK deal
  15. QUOTE (DGSOXFan14 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) According to Matt Abbatacola's Facebook (I know...): Probably nothing we already dont know but just thought id pass it along. Reference to a tweet from hours ago. Nothing new there. In fact we've been hearing that for DAYS..
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Source? Maybe I missed something. He just said on CTL he's got a follow up meeting to the one he took earlier today. He intends to make a deal for a 1B tonight or tomorrow AM. He's through "neglecting" other agents.
  17. QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Are the White Sox talking with Derek Lee's agent? Has there been any talk or is just logical speculation on whom Williams may target? As to these comments by Williams about looking at other options, it's public posturing, but it's also probably true. Williams has to explore other options at the same time, but I have to believe that a deal will be struck very soon between the Sox and Konerko - he'll get 3 years at around $13 million per season. What is Lee's expected value on the market? Is he a 1 year deal at $10 million? KW & Hahn are meeting with D Lee tonight, but they have reached out to Landis (PK) for one more chance at a deal. If Konerko doesn't sign with the Sox soon, (in the next 24 hours or sooner) the PK era is ovah. Kenny can't wait any longer. He wants to make moves Wed/Thurs of this week and he will.
  18. No joke, as nice as it would be to have PK in that lineup, the bullpen is the key to the season. Cannot be overstated. My fear is it takes a backseat to the sentimentality of JR.
  19. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) I'd like the Sox to move on. Even if the Sox get that number to drop, you would be looking at something like $13M a year for 3 years? There are better ways to use that money than on an aging 1B coming off a career year. You could get Lee or someone like him on a 1 or 2 year deal for half that money and be able to sign help for the pen as well. This is a time when putting together the best team should be more important than sentimental attachment to a player. Right now KW has likely put their final offer out there and a deadline of tomorrow. Kenny is not gonna lose out on the Winter Meetings for any player. Right know he's handcuffed unless it's another salary dump move because he doesn't know what he can take on for any move...the Sox cannot be held hostage by Konerko.
  20. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 12:16 AM) Im dissapointed the sox couldn't match that and pay him 1M and 1.5M more collectively than what we paid him last year 3M. There are not that many solid free agent relievers that make 4M on the open market. Yeah, take it up with PK.
  21. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) I think if KW loses his plan B or C because he's waiting for Konerko's decision, he's going to give Konerko a now-or-never ultimatum. If Paulie still doesn't make a decision, I think KW takes whichever backup plan is left (B or C).. I think PK re-signs tomorrow and it's announced Wed.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) Dlee has been an obvious idea, with the connections going all of the way back to the Marlins days. I'd be surprised if there is any reality to it if Cowley is talking about it. He's got about as many hits as Alexei in April so far this winter. LOL. Yeah, I just thought it was funny that I posted D Lee and then like minutes later he does...
  23. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) KW spoke of a Plan B and C today for 1B - well according to a scout, Derrek Lee is on the radar. Is he B or C? Does it matter? Adds defense. half a minute ago via TweetDeck From cowley.... Well who knows anymore. I beat Cowley to the punch. I know D Lee is on deck and if he's healthy, that may just be the best thing for the team. -Better D/Comparable hitters/Better athlete/Frees up $$$
  24. Anyone else feeling like Konerko re-signing took a bit of a hit today?
  25. Plan B is D Lee Plan C is Viciedo Pena is not on the Sox radar.
