  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 03:50 PM) Exactly. I think Whitley and Perez are being over looked in the board discussions. A few people have mentioned Perez though. If people were OK with including Keller in a trade with Pitt then I see nothing wrong with going after Whitley and Perez. Hell, I would rather have Whitley than Keller. Wow. Keller's ceiling is much more projectable and much higher than Whitley or Perez at this point. In fact, it's higher than most pitching prospects in the minors right now.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Who do you think goes next and what could we expect back in return? Thanks for the info Bucket! Tough to call, but the usual suspects: likely Robertson, Frazier and Q. Sorry, now more than ever I can't be a resource for return names like I used to but there are some highly accurate package names in this thread. I will say that the national and local media info has been surprisingly in the know lately...credit to them.
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) Do you think we see more this week? That's almost totally in the hands of Luhnow, Coppolela, Mozeliak and Rizzo. There is still momentum from last week's discussions. The scouting and talks have been very thorough for many months and further deals are on the board to be had. Make no mistake, teams very clearly know Rick's asks, which contributed to last week's action and thus the recent windfall of elite prospects.
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) Any other cynics here think that the "rebuilding idea" and the two trades were just excuses to get rid of "perceived" problems in Sale and Eaton and the Sox are done trading? No, but it was a factor, for sure.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) Why is that the problem? They have plenty of prospect depth from which to trade from. Grammar, man.
  6. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) Cowley's been out of the beat for a while, but he thinks these moves are more indicative of Hahn running the show. Couple of things: This paradigm shift is all Rick taking the reigns. Nobody will say this, but moving Chris and Adam was also about the clubhouse culture change.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Wasnt there kind of a big power struggle behind the scenes because of this exact thing last season? Not so much a power struggle but the dynamic is strained.
  8. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) So Hahn took a job where KW would use him as a puppet? FYI, when Rick was hired it was always understood that Kenny would eventually step away. He was supposed to, but never has.
  9. KW asked Adam several times to keep Drake off the field during drills as the org would be liable for any injury that occurred to his boy. Adam flat out refused time and again to a belligerent degree. That is what set off Kenny and he wasn't the only one that was concerned. Ironically Kenny was more concerned about Drake's safety than Mr. #FamilyFirst. That's what some need to know about LaRoche's behavior.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) Agree. And then bat Melky 5, Lawrie 6, LaRoche 7. Ideal order there. +1
  11. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Melky is not a 2-hole hitter. It will come down to Lawrie or Rollins and the way Ventura has been using his lineup make me belive it's gonna be Lawrie. Past 3 seasons: Melky has over 800 at bats with decent production batting 2nd. Lawrie in limited at bats has been atrocious there.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) Who should it be? Melky? Also, Sox done with moves in your opinion? Yes, Melk #2. Likely done but still shopping the clearance aisle.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) He wishes he could have Gavin's curve +1
  14. Hopefully it won't take RV until May to realize Lawrie is NOT a 2-hole hitter...but doubt it.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) It's really odd - he looks like a completely different pitcher than his last outing. At best he's Gavin Floyd At worst he's Gavin Floyd
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Due to shortage of money? I really think a Petricka and prospect for Jennings trade makes sense No not necessarily. In this landscape with all things being equal, a trade would be the preferred mode of acquisition.
  17. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) Bucket, if you had to guess, do you see them making another move? Obviously FAs like Desmond, Fowler, Jackson, etc or even a trade that would fill the void in RF... I do think they'll add but how impact the bat ends up being is unknown. They still have valued targets out there and they are working on it.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) Any of these trade suggestions realistic? Think they get another bat before season starts? I would agree that as it stands now, they are more inclined to deal for a bat than sign one.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 13, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) that was all shear luck of the draw. No it wasn't. Latos had offers potentially in excess of 3x the amount he signed for. Sox appealed to him for the opportunity and their reputation with pitching and injuries.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) Anything to add on this Desmond/Fowler situation? Talks are fluid. As some have stated, they have a range they will stay within for free agents. As of tonight that's not a match for either camp. It's really that simple.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 05:19 PM) Bob Nnightengale on MLB Network just said that the White Sox are out of cash. I find this hard to believe. Nightingale is not nearly as connected to the Sox FO right now as some have suggested.
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 12:24 AM) Here we go. EDIT: Based on his picture, I thought he would have a high-pitched nerdy voice. But he actually sounds pretty classic. He sounds like someone from mlb.com actually. Happy for Jason. Great guy and a talented announcer. Hired purely based on his ability but another testament to the team's willingness to stand at the forefront of equal opportunity regardless of race, religion, politics gender or disability.
  23. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 12:48 AM) Yeah... Sure seems that way. I would assume nothing will really move until next week or after the start of the new year. It seems obvious they want one of the top three, but wanting doesn't always result on getting, especially if they are sticking within guidelines, not just head-hunting. I do think they make a deal with their guy if they get the chance & make it "fit" later. Either way, I know I speak for everyone when I say, I really appreciate the info you & raBBit provide. Hope you have a Merry Christmas. I'm out, guys. Happy holidays to you and yours.
  24. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 12:47 AM) So we can expect all 3 these guys to be cheaper like Gordon 4-5 years 75-80 million instead of 100 million. I wouldn't mistake lack of signings to result in sub-$100M deals. It's the added clause demands that are giving pause and holding things up.
  25. QUOTE (toasty @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 12:42 AM) Is fluidity going to necessitate a deal to spin off somebody elsewhere for some salary relief? LaRoche, Danks? I don't think they'll wait on those side deals to make offers if that's what you're asking.
