QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Hey man, it could happen. Back like 4-5 years ago I was on the sports forum on 2k Sports website. Will Rhymes was a poster on that site and talked about playing in the low minor leagues for Oneonta and West Michigan and stuff. It's really odd to see a guy I used to talk sports with on a sports forum now playing baseball in the minor leagues. In fact, I even FOUND the thread from back in 2006. LOL....... http://2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?...ighlight=Rhymes Apparently Wes Bankston made the majors in 2008. That is hilarious. ^ -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) hey, it's Willie Rhymes on the board! Cleveland was 8.5 back on this day in 2005. Two weeks later they were 1.5 out. Go play with your Joe Mauer doll and check back in a few weeks. This season is so far from over. Loser. EDIT: and by the way, the Sox were winning at a .599 clip at that point, while the twinkies are now at .590. The Sox win tonight, Twins lose. Sox win tomorrow and they are just 3 games back. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) LOL, yes, 4.5 games back with 24 left and 3 against is "end of story". They may be a better team, and chances are good we won't catch them, no one is saying otherwise. But these posts saying "its over" are hilarious. The Twins won the division one year ago when they were 3 games back with 4 to play but we're supposed to pack it in with 24 games left? OK. anybody that knows the game and these teams knows this thing AIN'T OVER. -

QUOTE (Willy52 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) Why don't you people admit that they're the better team? They're in first without Morneau. Pretty damn impressive. They beat up on the division unlike us. We're not catching them. End of story. See you at Soxfest. -

Gordon Beckham's hand... (not) actually broken
macsandz replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Per Cowley on the Score Beckham's hand is getting worse, he cannot hold a bat, and the Sox are going to have it checked out again, and fear it is indeed broken. Again, the source, Cowley is a Drama Queen looking for exactly this kind of attention. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) So how long is Paulie out? Day-to-day. He'll likely be back tomorrow.

What would it take to throw Edwin in the Twins series? The Sox need to do whatever they can to change up what has become a psychological edge for MIN in this critical match-up. I say pull Floyd and pitch Jackson. That along with Manny's presence can begin a move into a new direction for these games. Something has got to be done to change up the psychology of this series as we all know aside from the absolute beatdown the boys just gave them in the last meeting, the Twins have been in the Sox' heads for sometime now. I would hope the team recognizes that they need to take advantage of the recent brilliant additions of Jackson, Manny and Sale as game-changing new blood and take advantage of them as much as possible in this rivalry.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Over the past couple weeks I noticed something strange about the way the Twins were winning. They seemed to be winning a lot of game in which they were out hit by their opponents. So I did a little research. Since the ASB, the Twins have won 7 games in which they have been out hit and won another two more in which they have tied their opponents for hits. Of those 7 wins, 6 are at home. Of those 7 wins, 4 are in the last week, OUCH!!!! This seems strange to me, how is this happening and why only at home. Is this unheard of, is this a record? I would love to see some more research about winning games when being out-hit. Why can the Twins do this at home, but not on the road. Is it their big ballpark? How can they do this so consistently in the last two months? Is their lineup the most clutch lineup ever (only at home), where they can score 6 runs on 6 hits consistently? There has to be a method to this madness because In my opinion this is rather freakish. They lead the league in games won by routine double plays not turned by the opposition, dome rafters influence and an umpire's misinterpretation of contact rules.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) Ozzie is clearly trying to stack the lineup with LHP against Scherzer. I haven't looked at his splits, but I'd be shocked if he doesn't dominate righties. I'm fine with this lineup...it's not like we're going to miss Rios' bat and Konerko's if he's hurting. The defense takes a hit.
-
This lineup today is disgusting. The ENTIRE TEAM just had two days off in a row!

QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) Does Bill Melton even pay attention to what happens with the White Sox? He "doesn't remember" what the deal was for Edwin Jackson.. It was pretty simple, Daniel Hudson, + a minor leaguer for Edwin Jackson.. He's paid to pay attention and talk about the White Sox.. how hard is that to remember? This isn't the first of these types of comments from him.. just seems silly. Melton is a total moron. All he says is "The Minnesota Twins...". Like a freaking robot. He's asked about the Red Sox "Minnesota Twins..", He's asked about the 6-0 road trip "Minnesota Twins.." the dude is lost.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Yeah, Konerko hasn't had a stretch like Manny's 6 or 7 ABs in years. Get real. Manny's been good, but please. Don't know much about hitting do you?
-
Manny's at-bats so far have been among the best a Sox hitter has had in years. Not since Hurt have we had a chance to watch a hitter mentally own a pitcher like Manny has. You just can't fool the guy. He's ready for anything and adjusts from pitch to pitch. That's what his former teammates mean by making all the hitters better.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) Cowley said earlier that Manny was out of the line up tonight unless Manny could convince Ozzie to play him.If he is too tired to start I would think be would only get more tired watching the game fromthe side and by th time th 8th or 9th inning rolled around he would be in no condition to pinch hit.Send him back to the hotel to sleep, and hopefully he wakes up in time to play tomorrow. Yeah. Cowley the lead Drama Queen looking for a "scoop". Like he's breaking some story. Whatever. If you want informed, impartial reports watch the MLB Network. Not ONE mention as to Manny not playing as anything other than a baseball decision by the manager. The Chicago media just can't wait to create some crap to generate interest and call the gulliable fanbase into controversy. This is Ozzie imposing his authority. Nothing more nothing less.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) I would think if the guy was fully motivated and excited to be in playoff contentoin,c flying in fiirst class for 4.5 hours would not keep him out of the line up. This, Imo, isnt going to go well. This isn't some Manny circus BS. Manny not in the lineup is OZZIE'S CALL. Not Manny's . Manny told him "Whatever you want me to do. I'll do. I'm ready to compete." Ozzie wants him to get "settled in with his teammates." Remember Rios sitting on the bench in Seattle his first game last year? Blame Ozzie. Don't run with some lack of motivation crap. Enough with the drama.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) He hasn't started a game in a week. Plus he's our DH. And?
-
QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) WTF is going on. Why is Manny not playing tonight? Or is the reason just "Ozzie"?? There is absolutely nothing abnormal about a new acquisition not in the lineup the day he arrives with his new team. But you guys and the media obviously wanna make this into something it's not, so knock yourself out. If the people that are paying the guy have no problem with it why the tantrums from the fanbase?
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) If all the Dodgers wanted was to drop all the dollars on KW, Manny would have been in the White Sox lineup tonight already. Reinsdorf is not gonna take on $1M for 5 weeks and then pay $3M next year for a player not even on the roster.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) In most trade cases I'd say the longer it goes on the worse of a chance it is, but not with waivers. I'm fairly confident we will acquire him, I think the dodgers just want to act like they still care about winning and not the owners divorce. This ^ and they want to drop all the dollars on KW who doesn't want to take on the full $4M.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 11:37 PM) There's also an enormous difference between 3.5 back, 1 team ahead of you and no one in your rear view mirror and 4 back, 4 teams ahead of you and 2 in your rear view mirror. Each night we just have to hope the Twins lose, the Dodgers on the other hand have to worry about the Phillies, Cardinals, Giants and Rockies AND are tied in the loss column with the Marlins and are 2 up on the Mets. They're fighting an uphill battle for a playoff spot, we're a series sweep + and extra win/Twins loss away from a first place tie. AND they have 4 starting OF and no DH position or position flexibility to get them all ABs. With Furcal out Theroit is thrust into the leadoff spot on days that Manny starts. Nicely done, here Kalapse.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 02:54 PM) That would be cool if he got booed. It would show me again, Sox fans are the best. Not sheep who just cheer when we are supposed to cheer for the new guy/cheater. I'd say boo him once then have him help us win and cheer his performance but feel dirty doing so. WIN GAMES. It's entertainment. Save the morality and ethics soapbox for yourself and your children.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) I know, I know, I'm a sellout to laundry too...but I still claim the right to be bothered by this and to chant Steroids whenever he's up. Fair enough.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) Bullpen arm, I assume? I wonder who they could be targeting? Could be an interesting weekend... Scott Downs from TOR?
