  1. Remember when Jeff Manship completely owned the Sox last year in the dome? It was a Thursday I think. Maybe the day Becks took Nathan deep.
  2. QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) why was AJ stealing? Hit-n-Run? But I doubt it.
  3. And the "Never cost themselves runs" Twins just made another dumb play. Don't tell anyone.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) no popups, dumbass This is one of those tomorrow morning at-bats.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Quentin on the road vs LHP = fail AJ productive at bat = impossible.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Quentin on the road vs LHP = fail He's moved the runner over both times tonight...
  7. Deja vu inning. 2 on-none out. Can we execute another guy across the plate? This means you AJ!
  8. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Looks so easy. Liriano kinda sucks tonight...
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) Nice start of the inning by Alexei! And the "Don't stop now boys" curse is enacted. Thanks Hawkaroo.
  10. Gavin's control is pretty awful tonight. His pitches are drifting big time.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) I'm thinking a fluke play like an interference call costing the Sox a big run, or an easy DP throw being butchered Lillibridge style to give the Twins the lead. It's time to anoint some amazing farm-hand like Valencia as a Sox-killer, so you know he's gonna be involved.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) I'm thinking a fluke play like an interference call costing the Sox a big run, or an easy DP throw being butchered Lillibridge style to give the Twins the lead. Whatever it is, there's some serious Dadgummit time in about an hour or so.
  13. Why do the Sox of ALL teams not know how to pitch Jim f**cking Thome? Down and away. All day.
  14. Any early predictions on the insane circus ending in store for us Sox fans...? I'm gonna go with a blown call going the Twinkie way.
  15. You intentionally walk Mauer and no run scores there. The guy hits doubles in his sleep.
  16. Pathetic pitch to Mauer. BUST HIM IN OR WALK HIS ASS.
  17. Why is it so difficult for Sox pitchers to keep the ball down in the zone the first 4 innings? Are these starters just tired from the insane amount of quality starts this season?
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) No doubt in my mind we'd be a better team if Castro got to play every game against LHP. Also, no reason for Floyd to even pitch to Mauer. He's hitting over .650 vs RHP starters since ASB. They pitched around Cabrera, why not Mauer?
  19. More brilliant execution by this offense. The chances the Twins score in this inning are quite high now...
  20. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) It would make better sense to go after Laroche as he is left handed but I understand the desire for Manny who thrives on the big stage. But Laroche will cost next to nothing and does not have any club house issues. It is just crazy for the Sox to not move on LaRoche. Manny would be pure Kenny, but there are to many unknowns with him and no time to lose.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) The bottom line is we all love this team and the direction they go in oftentimes affects the way we are able to go about our days and nights every April - September. But in the end, we have to remember this is a game. I'm as big a fan as anyone, but I learned to always try and put things in perspective. Deep breaths. Tomorrow is another day, and another game. It is entertainment and as absurd as that ending was, it was entertaining in a cruel irony kind of way.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) It's funny, I see everyone saying how heartbreaking this game was. Sure, it sucked and the ending was quite ironic. Maybe it's because fatherhood has altered my priorities, but this one really doesn't upset me that much. I don't think we'd outlast the Twins the rest of the way even if we won tonight. Sure, a win would have been great. However, at the end of the season, the better team usually wins the division. My thoughts exactly. I just stood there and laughed. It's ridiculous how that ended. I would have been so much more upset if the Sox failed to score in the 9th and just went quietly.
  23. QUOTE (RudyLawRules @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/38727801/ns/...ts-player_news/ I'm sure he'll be blocked by someone. The White Sox were linked to Hawpe in July, and they came up empty looking for a bat last month. The Padres and Braves made additions, so a National League claim seems unlikely. The White Sox would have first crack in the AL, before the Twins, Red Sox, Yankees, or Rays. The Red Sox and Rays may at least consider Hawpe, but I suspect he'll make it through waivers unclaimed. That'd open up trade possibilties for the Rockies, who probably won't get draft pick compensation for the Type A free agent. It'd only be possible if they declined Hawpe's option and then offered arbitration, an unlikely scenario. MLBTR
