  1. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:32 AM) They're absolutely crazy. Do they realize that Dunn is only signed for 2 more months significantly lowering his value. I hope they keep him and he walks. And they can't afford to offer arbitration for the picks. Rizzo knows he's got to deal Dunn and he's gonna rape KW in the process. The Rays have the pieces, but they aren't gonna mortgage like Kenny will.
  2. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:26 AM) i wish i could but it takes two to deal and the options seem to be drying up Gut feeling - Would Kenny deal Quentin for Dunn? I know he doesn't want to. But he knows this year is coming together as a chance to get another ring.
  3. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) we have but they havent Doc, tell me they'll land an impact bat of some description tomorrow.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:15 AM) Im happy with the team as is. I hope that the Sox dont blink. They need left side production in that lineup.
  5. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) we have but they havent I knew it. So no progress on the Nats side at all this week? They're losing suitors and not adjusting the price? So, it's a game of chicken until 3pm tomorrow, eh? Does Kenny have one final offer in his pocket? Rizzo knows the Sox want Dunn more than the Nats need to trade him and Rizzo is gonna make it hurt.
  6. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:03 AM) nats want more than that They still want Becks or CQ? Tell me we've progressed at least past that point.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:03 AM) I'm going to sleep. I'm confident that nothing will happen at 3:00 AM, but i've been wrong before. Keep the faith everyone. Good night, Bolt. Talk to you tomorrow.
  8. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:58 AM) still thinking dunn could happen I cant believe Kenny and Rick are still talking to Rizzo. Are they prepared to go all in with Viciedo?
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:55 AM) I AM THE EGG MAN!!!! Paul is dead and so is the Dunn deal.
  10. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:53 AM) long shot, less than 50 no talks about laroche at all thus far They are targeting a bat beyond the longshot right?
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:42 AM) I use this board to practice beat poetry as well as for baseball discussions. I'm banging on a trash can as we speak. Well you certainly have the condescending criticism part down.
  12. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:31 AM) i know who it is Long shot? What would you say...50% chance or worse? If it falls through, let's hope they settle for LaRoche and not just stay with Kotsay.
  13. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:08 AM) FWIW I sat right behind the scouts tonights and the Dbacks were there, as were the reds and I'm drawing a blank on the others. That must have been cool. I haven't heard anybody speak to the fact that Harrell just gave the Sox another trade chip tonight.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:03 AM) you've gotta think that's the most attractive option for us now. IMO, He's always made the most sense of any available candidate considered. Historically, he's a monster producer in the 2nd half. He's put up a slash of .303/.386/.607/.993 hitting 5th this season with zero protection, .285/.341/.494/.835 with runners on and and 303/.386/.607/.993 with RISP. LaRoche hits LHP to the tune of .286/.861. (Dunn and Berkman are awful against LHP).
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:38 PM) One thing that I learned from listening to KW, Cooper, and Ozzie today is that they were not high on Hudson at all. No doubt. Hudson was a mental mess most of his time in the MLB this season and after Javy, the Sox don't suffer weak pitchers anymore.
  16. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:31 PM) Nats are trying to get KW to deal up more prospects for Dunn. It'll probably still happen. Common knowledge. His name Is Viciedo and that's not happening. Adam LaRoche will be a White Sox tomorrow.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:15 PM) Yes, because Hudson is exactly like all of those guys that you just rattled off the top of your head. The facts as of now appear to be simple: KW got played out of the best trade piece we had. I don’t care about our past trading history. I care about the present and the future. Dan Hudson appeared to have a pretty big part to play in the puzzle. The Sox have a pretty damn good track record of both self-scouting and pitcher reclamation projects.
  18. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:04 PM) I agree I think Hawpe and Jackson are outatandig addtions. Jackson -Yes. Hawpe -No. Right team. Wrong guy. Ian Stewart should be the COL target.
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:06 PM) Sweet, maybe we can trade our most valuable piece in Dan Hud- Wait, s***. That's not going to happen. Why does everyone consider Hudson "our most valuable" to every team? How do you know what every other team considers valuable? How do you know that there's not a team that doesn't covet a young power bat like Viciedo who's mashing in the bigs to all fields like a veteran at 21 over Hudson who crapped his pants in the bigs at 23? Tonight Lucas freaking Harrell just showed twice the sac on the mound that Hudson ever has.
  20. QUOTE (ChiCard @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Anyone who advocates trading Viciedo has a screw loose. The hell with the Nats and Dunn. Keep Jackson and play the offensive hand we've been dealt. I am so OVAH Adam Dunn to the Sox. The Nats have priced themselves out of the trade market with Kenny. They are demanding Viciedo AND Jackson and Kenny ain't gonna do that. The Dunn deal is dead. As it should be. Kenny is targeting another big bat and this time tomorrow he's gonna have it.
  21. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Yeah, because the White Sox deadline is a day earlier then the rest of the league..... Get a grip people. Rotation is upgraded, I am happy. The level of deadline drama queens is up this year.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) I think that Jackson could be exponentially better than Hudson. There is a reason why the Sox made the deal, and its not because they are in the business of overpaying for players who arent as good. My guess is that Coop soured on Hudson, while at the same time he likes Jackson. Could be a case of the grass is always greener, but I just dont have a lot of faith in Hudson. He may prove me wrong, but it wouldnt surprise me if the guy never is a major league starter either. The bottom line is Jackson is a lot better than Hudson for this year's pennant race. The guy was an ALL STAR a year ago. In our Division.
  23. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 01:59 AM) Jackson-for-Hudson seems like a lateral move to me. I don't see the point, especially with Hudson being a lot cheaper for the next few years. Lateral move? Jackson has a ton of MLB experience and had good success in the AL.
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 11:24 PM) last 28 days his tOPS+ is 138 and sOPS+ is 160 with a raw OPS of .966... that includes his suckfest numbers against LHP, luckily with Ozzie's want to rotate guys he can start Berkman against all RHPs either at DH or 1b and have Andruw Jones start against LHPs who he is hitting decently this year... Berkman would have the potential to make a far bigger impact than Griffey in 08 Yeah, in a DH/1B platoon, Fat Elvis Berkman might be a nice pickup, but seriously he had better not face AL LHP EVER.
  25. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) Berkman since June 1st .259/.385/.465 .850 OPS and he even has 3 SB over that stretch, for July hes batting .233/.404/.521 .925 OPS. In June he was sporting an above average wOBA of .357 for July .392 inching closer to his career mark of .405. Lance is also holding it down with the glove 2.7 UZR. For a little comparison Dunn since June 1st .276/.345/.558 .903 OPS, for July .278/.363/.557 .920 OPS. His June wOBA .370, July wOBA .391. Adam is slightly below average with his glove -0.6. for some perspective Konerko has been a -6.8 UZR at 1B. Honestly the way this trade deadline has looked thus far, it appears most teams are still suffering some fiscal hardships, ideally Berkman could be had with some cash in hand from the astros for some mid level prospects of the non Hudson, Viciedo, Flowers, Morel variety. And if that doesn't work hold off and make the stretch run with what we have currently on our roster. Put Teahen in RF TL;DR Quentin = DYE in RF. Also teahen was putting up this line in the 10 games before he hit the DL .364/.389/.545 with 4 extra base hits. If the sox do that we improve our outfield defense, and can hope to keep CQ healthy for the stretch run, while actually having a slightly below competent defender at 3B (Vizquel). His basic splits are pretty jarring: AVG. OPS VS. LHP: .188 / .559 VS. RHP: .261 / .874 HOME: .287 / .896 AWAY: .194 / .700 Berkman to the Sox has Griffey in '08 all over it.
