QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) We were up 4 runs. There was one out. Then Kubel hits the missed play. Young flys out. 2 outs, man on first. No runs. Then Danks shats down his leg and 6 runs cross the plate. I know our old homer announcer is looking for all sorts of other things to blame. But in reality, lots of pitchers get out of 2 out, man on first situations without giving up the touchdown. Of course they do.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) I like Hawk. He's been a great part of my White Sox fanhood and he’s an integral part of the White Sox brand, but the guy gets on my nerves. He’s more invested in being folksy and hyper-critical then actually calling the ballgame. That’s my biggest complaint. He's not even decent anymore. He's just a series of over-used, predictable homer-calls these days.

Sox are losing. Time for the Hawkaroo to bit.ch about the umpires!

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) Bulls***, i can like the team and not like the broadcaster. That's ridiculious. The deranged hillbilly that describes the action has zero to do with team allegiance.
-
Did anybody else suspect that Danks was gonna have a tough time when the ump didn't grant the bottom of the zone to Slowey in the 1st inning? Danks has to have his low zone or his change-up is nullified and he becomes an average pitcher at best.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) **** The good news? He'll be kept out of the field!!!

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) it's just weird the amount of strange s*** that goes down whenever they play the twins Oh, please. Stop feeding into that BS. It wasn't strange. It was a terrible read and even worse pitching.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) This kind of bulls*** blind homerism is why Hawk isn't appreciated outside of Chicago. Call the game like it's being played, Hawk. Not the way you wish it was. Well said. He's an embarrassment to the profession.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) Can't remember a more disappointing inning than that in a long time. Offense has to keep it going. Whatever. The Twins have a terrible starter on the mound and a brutal bullpen lately. I just hate the way the Sox infused a reeling team with momentum the way they just did. Danks has got to pick up the pieces better than that, though. That was a horrible display of lack of focus.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) f***. Harrelson is seriously just an embarassing old idiot. He just won't shut up about a misjudged fly ball. That did not lead to 6 "gift" runs. Danks horrible pitching did. Period.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) I don't miss that 'lil skip-to-my-lou back to the dugout after he struck out. Hawk doing his best Terrordome panic already.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) I miss Thome. I don't miss that 'lil skip-to-my-lou back to the dugout after he struck out.

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) LOL....the idea of Beckham being back has me half mast Becks launched that pitch. Was that in the upper deck?!

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) Four earned runs against slowey on 39 pitches. Looking good so far. And for those of you that DON'T think TCQ is a horrible RF,...there ya go.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) sounds like Detoilet has the inside track on Haren. I think he winds up there before the deadline. I like his chances of helping them more than Oswalt helping Minny (if you believe he'll go there). Haren's proven he can pitch in the AL. Detroit's system is as bad or worse then the Sox -per Kevin Goldstein Baseball Prospectus.

He does have $33.3MM remaining on his contract and is having a down season. But this guy has had success in the AL, is a work-horse (200 IP+) and can be dominant. It would cost a bit, but it's also a block. It's well known both the Tigers and Twins are shopping for starters.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:15 PM) Realistic or pipe dream fantasy. Whatever. You know how these work. -Beckham continues to bounce back and ends this suckfest of a year with an OPS above .700. -Williams makes a couple of moves, one to add a left handed bat, and one to add another back of the rotation type to allow for flexibility for the rest of the season -Ozzie Guillen says that Tony Pena is his MVP There's what I WANT to happen and what I think will happen: -Beckham definitely recovers and finishes strong. -Kenny steers clear of the big deal and acquires a Geoff Blum-type "chemistry move".

http://twitter.com/SI_JonHeyman/status/18319303627 White Sox Might Consider Oswalt By Zach Links [July 11, 2010 at 8:50pm CST] The White Sox might consider dealing for Roy Oswalt, tweets Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated. At the same time, GM Kenny Williams & Co. are leery of a switch from the National League to the American League. Williams may have some convincing to do as Oswalt reportedly does not want to play for the White Sox. One has to think that the ace could be swayed, however, as the ChiSox present Oswalt with a chance to win and the opportunity to team up with friend Jake Peavy. Back in 2008, Peavy was open to joining the Astros in order to play with the three-time All-Star. It appeared that the White Sox would be sellers just one month ago. However, the club may look to buy after rallying in recent weeks and climbing their way to the top of the AL Central. -- It's well known that Oswalt has claimed he'd block a trade to the White Sox. We all know he's best bumpkin buds with Peavy who could likely change his mind. If Oswalt doesn't want to jump into a pennant race with the hottest team in baseball after watching the Sox dismantle his only other shot 5 years ago, leave him down in lonely Texas. If Kenny can swing a deal for Berkman, that's the way to go. IMO.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:11 PM) Reports out west on the radio are that the Nats aren't going to trade Dunn, but instead try to resign him. Might just be a ploy by the GM to hold as much leverage as possible though. I think the deal was discussed and Kenny walked away. No way KW was gonna meet their demands. I say target Berkman and get it done.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) Dunn just hit two more HRs tonight. Man he'd be too perfect. A lot of reports are linking Dunn to the Sox, but I just don't see how that deal could require anything but Beckham and/or Quentin. For a potential 1/2 a season of Dunn?
-
QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) breaking news at the top of espnchicago.com......peavy out for season Anybody suprised by that hasn't been paying attention. The Sox will be fine without him. The Twins and Tigers are average teams at best these days.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) What farm system? The farm system that is currently contributing the the Sox success with recent call-ups like Viciedo and Lillibridge.

HOW GOOD IS THIS TEAM?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 11:43 PM) Play has to be made by Lillibotched DP He's rushing the turn. He's sailed one and rolled one. He won't do it again.
