Sox acquire Lance Lynn for Dane Dunning and Avery Weems
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lance Lynn is an Indiana boy. He still comes back to the Brownsburg, IN area (suburb of Indy). That could bode well for chances of an extension. -

If anyone is wondering if Lance Lynn is going to fit in to a young, loose team....umm..worry no more. -
Rumor: Sox discussing deal with Cubs/Rangers

This guy needs his own threads for his random tweets? Just dump it in the Winter Meetings thread and we can all ignore it -
Passan: Springer to White Sox not happening
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wait, Springer is selling himself to teams as a center fielder? But some clown here told me that Springer himself thinks he can't play CF anymore, I'm so confused. ?? -
JBJ has been a solid 2+ WAR guy over a long stretch of his career. Given their ages, I don't think he's that far off of Michael Brantley. Bradley is certainly a consolation prize to Springer and Ozuna, but he's a pretty well known commodity for being an above average RF overall. Not saying I'm crossing my fingers for him, but $7.5M a year would be a steal for whoever does ink him.
-
Jackie Bradley Jr at $7.5M a year would be a tremendous value. I would have guessed he would get closer to $12M a year. He had his 2nd best year of his career in 2020.

Clevinger wanted to be White Sox
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I completely missed this thread when it originally started, but unless that terrible Sports Mockery article is missing a lot of context, how did we jump from "Tim Anderson personally called Clevinger to discuss the possibility of being teammates. " to him wanting and preferring to be traded to the Sox? Glad it didn't happen though, I find Clevinger to be a douche and nice to see Bucket's nugget about the Sox players vetoing his acquisition. -
Ok, got it, thanks. I don't consume any expanded universe stuff outside of some of the video games, so I couldn't remember this ever being addressed in the movies, which are the only things I've seen outside of this TV show.

So in the original trilogy, they were already recruiting/kidnapping random people across the galaxy to be storm troopers? I thought Finn being revealed as a Storm Trooper was the first time we saw anyone who wasn't a clone wear the Storm Trooper armor? I thought that was supposed to be an important change.
-
Oh, and one thing I predicted to my wife that didn't occur, which was a little disappointing, but I really wanted to see a helmet of a stormtrooper pop off and reveal to Boba that these are no longer clones of him. I thought it would be some sort of funny moment where he thinks he murdering his clones, or it's revealed that he isn't, but there was no reference to that unfortunately.
-
Man, that episode was awesome. Obviously the Storm Troopers had about a million opportunities to land a single shot on anyone not wearing Beskar, but of course they were comically bad shots or unwilling to shoot their aimed weapon. But I guess that's Star Wars and most action movies. But seeing Fett shred those guys with the sand people staff was dope.

Bowden has no idea who Andrew Vaughn is. Not only did he say the Rays wouldn't have any interest in Vaughn (uhhh??), but today on The Athletic he did a piece on "1 winter meeting move for all teams" where he not only mocked a trade of Vaughn for Lynn straight up (lol no), but he also mocked Snell to the Angels for OF Brandon Marsh and SP Reid Detmers. Those are 2 backend top 100 guys. There is no way the Rays aren't getting at least a top 50 prospect back in a trade and probably at least one more top 100 guy plus lottery tickets. That trade is barely better than a White Sox package of Crochet + Dunning for Snell, at least using mlb.com's rankings. Now if you jump over to Fangraph's rankings, they are much higher on Marsh (#30), but don't have Detmers ranked in their top 115 at all. Either way, Bowden clearly has no idea how good or how valuable Andrew Vaughn actually is, so while I think his optimism that the Sox might get Snell is interesting, that's where the value in his comments ends.

I have no problem with his broadcast style, and I actually love his interest in advanced metrics that he brings to the Cubs broadcasts..... but holy shit his shrill excited voice drives me nuts. His talking voice is fine, but as soon as he goes from Kermit the Frog to shrill screeches of joy, my ears bleed a little.

Usually I'm extremely distracted at work during Winter Meetings week constantly refreshing Twitter. I guess I picked a good idea to be stuck at home with Covid. Silver linings, and whatnot.

Baseball Prospectus Top 10 White Sox Prospects
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
10 is the spot where you can burn a ranking on something that will get people talking about your rankings. -
Welp, that was fast. Knebel could be an amazing bargain at $5.1M.

What tone?

Add him to the top of my RP list with resigning Colome and taking a flier on Kirby Yates.

Nontender deadline almost here
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That is a dude I'm all-in on taking a chance with. Hell yea, resign Colome, sign Knebel or Kirby Yates, and let's go. -

Oscar Colas declared FA in Japan
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to EloyJenkins's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just going off of what we've heard and seen on social media, it seems like Colas is coming to the Sox. But then I hear about him having as workout for other teams and it seems a bit confusing as to why he would still be working out for other teams at this point if so many things/people indicate that he's going to be in Chicago. Just seems a bit strange. -
Right. That's why a platoon would be the only instance that makes us better in RF. I would take Engel over Rosario in a full-time RF job.
-
I'm not against the idea of an Engel/Rosario platoon, I'm just saying at nearly $10M, Rosario would be a very expensive platoon. I think the Twins end up bringing him back for cheaper.
-
Is Rosario any better than Adam Engel at this point? He does bat lefty, but that would be an expensive platoon partner for Adam.
