  1. That all makes sense, but then you have Grandal who was signed very early to shockingly fair price. So it's hard to really know. I'll get it on this and say 4 yrs/$68M.
  2. Lol. Obviously not nearly on the same level, but people like to give White Sox Dave shit for being the one to scoop the Shield's trade, and obviously that turned in to a disaster. At least the Herrera one was only money. Ha
  3. Maybe they were told by the Sox to shut the fuck up and now blow this one like the Machado, Pederson, and Wheeler leaks.
  4. Where do you show him as being below average defensively? All the numbers + reports I've seen of his defense from 2019 say he has definitely improved.
  5. So who that at the end of the latest episode of The Adventures of Baby Yoda?
  6. Exactly 1 year he was a good defender. Fangraphs defensive WAR.... 0.6 WAR, 3 DRS -4.0 WAR, -4 DRS 6.2 WAR, 11 DRS -0.7 WAR, -2 DRS -7.5 WAR. 1 DRS Pham has played 1000 more innings in the OF than Renfroe has. Pham has a +9 DRS. Renfroe has a +27. As I said in the other thread, Renfroe was someone I actually wanted the Sox to go after. He has become a good defender, he has a massive arm, and he has massive power. He definitely has flaws with contact skills, but I am willing to bet Renfroe is better over the next 2 years than Pham. Then you factor in Xavier Edwards and PTBNL for Jake Cronenworth, who admittedly sounds interesting given his massive leap offensively in AAA in 2019. But I just think any way you slice this for me, the Rays did very well.
  7. Tommy Pham.....a superstar? Uhhhh what. I like this trade a lot more for the Rays. But I also love when the Padres make bad moves, so this trade pleases me.
  8. Mutual options are so weird. When has one ever been agreed upon?
  9. Rays did very well in this trade. Pham is solid, but declining, will be 32 soon, and only 2 years of control left. Renfroe is a guy I brought up wanting the Sox to look at this off-season, is only 28, improving, good defensive RF with huge arm, and has massive power. Obviously he has major contact issues. But then you add in a top 75 prospect in baseball, Xavier Edwards? Dude was a darling in the 2018 draft. He doesn't profile that much differently than Nick Madrigal, but with better speed. I do love seeing the Padres fuck up though. So I'm loving this trade so far.
  10. I'm pretty sure he's referring to fake Jeff Passan accounts.... But go off, King.
  11. What's the point of posting his 2nd tweet complaining about the Internet?
  12. Lol I had no idea that putting "per FutureSox" and then directly citing the actual source would cause so much hysteria. My thoughts were that putting "Per Mike Rankin" would mean nothing to anyone, considering he doesn't have much a following on Twitter. The worst backlash I am willing to accept is anyone who wants to claim "clickbait" because I knew "per FutureSox" would give it more credibility and make more sense to people than "Per Mike Rankin" in the thread title, even though he was tweeting from his personal account and it FutureSox. Apologies to those at FS who may be annoyed with the irrational hate they have had to read here for no real reason.
  13. I would absolutely not trust this being real at all if it wasn't for A) Who he is and B) his confidence in his tweet. But yeah, shocking that Cole wouldn't at least wait for the winter meetings and a couple other pitchers to sign first.
  14. I can't believe Silicon Valley only has 1 episode left in the series. Not just because it's so great, but because the story line does not feel like it's heading towards some sort of over arching resolution.
  15. 5 yrs/$110M, with a club option for a 6th year at $12M or a $5M buyout. Let's all go home.
  16. If we are going to pick it a bit, I didn't love how they made the AT-ST seem like it was not just 2 guys inside of it controlling it. Made it seem like a sentient robot. And what was with that sticky bomb they put on the inside of the enemy tent waiting like 30 seconds before finally exploding, and seemingly randomly, since it was not ticking any faster as time went on.
  17. Welp, season is over. So fucking annoyed. Ended up as the #3 seed because I lost the last 2 weeks of the season. And then now I just lost the in the 1st RD of the playoffs to the #6 seed. Julio Jones, Evan Engram, Jordan Howard, and now Dalvin Cook...all hurt. Despite all that, I'll end up with the 2nd highest points of the week. 8 teams made the playoffs. Seeds 1-4....all lost. 3 teams who were 6-6 and one team who was 7-5 will advance. The teams who lost were 9-3, and the other 3 teams were 8-4. Fucking fantasy football, man. Still never won.
  18. Hamels would be just fine as our 2nd best SP addition this off-season. If he's our best pick up, that is putting a ton of pressure on Kopech and Cease for 2019.
  19. I don't believe in trading for or signing any high end RP until the rest of the team is ready and the team is competitive. I would love to have Hader, but I would rather wait a year and see how this team is doing before committing to that. RP is the most volatile position on a team, so if I am adding one, I am assuming that player could become worthless any season now, and there is no reason IMO to acquire someone like him now and risk that 2020 is that season, while the team isn't even in a position for a deep post-season run.
  20. Knives Out was really cool. And a lot of good humor to get through the slower parts.
