  1. Just got my AirBNB for Ashville next weekend. Now I just need to get our place in Charlotte for the days leading up to it. Anyone know any areas specifically to avoid in Charlotte? I am tempted to just get a place right across from the ballpark. EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention I got tickets for the Knights first playoff game on September 4th. 2nd row behind the dugout. ?
  2. Anyone have any good info on Asheville, NC and Charlotte, NC? The girlfriend and I will be going to Asheville for a wedding the first week of September. We're looking to get our AirBNBs right now. I'll be taking my car, so I'm also interested how parking is in those cities, as well as safe/fun areas to stay. I've read online that West Asheville is a pretty hip area where I'm sure my girlfriend will make me take 100 dumb photos in front of cute "Insta worthy" shit.
  3. The MLB average is 3.92 Pit/PA. I am terrible with Baseball-Reference's website so I can't figure out how to see what Madrigal's Pit/PA was in AA and A+, but considering he's well below the MLB average and would be the lowest on the Sox, how does that make the statement that he swings at everything in the strikezone to be untrue?
  4. The interesting thing about people putting Madrigal at lead off is that the guy swings at everything in the strike zone. He's not going to draw out long ABs. Not typically what you want from your lead off hitter. And Madrigal batting 2nd after Robert may actually force Madrigal to take a couple of pitches to let Robert try to steal a bag. And even if Madrigal goes down 0-2 in the count giving Robert a chance to steal, he's the guy who is going to strike out less than anyone else in baseball, so you can bet on him to at least advance Robert over to 3B if he does give him that chance to steal 2B.
  5. 1) Robert - Elite speed and XBH abilities 2) Madrigal - Elite contact skills to move Robert over when he leads off with either a 2B or a single/walk + SB. Basically the Pods/Iguchi tandem, if Pods could hit 30+ bombs a year and Iguchi had well above average speed.
  6. Just bought 5 blinds from SelectBlinds.com. $660. Woof. But to be fair we have a giant living room window that we got a motorized smart lift for. That alone was about $400. We are definitely in about $10-12K on renovations for this new house that my girlfriend originally agreed was "move in ready". Apparently not.
  7. I probably would have started with "Hey, can you guys cut out the racist and anti-semetic shit around me?". And if they say no, then drop em. But before that, I would give them a chance to see how much they want to be your friend. The "r word" is nails on a chalkboard to me. My closest friends know that I have special needs family members, but for those who don't know or don't realize, I ignore it until unless it become excessive, then I just say "Hey, not trying to sound uptight, but I really can't stand the R word. I have family members with special needs and it just bugs me to hear it. Do you mind just using something else instead when you're around me?" And if they say no, or say yes but continue to do it, then I just distance myself from them.
  8. I filled in "twat" before the page loaded.
  9. "Making points" is being far too kind. But hey, at least he got to throw his "ball washer" insult in there.... ??
  10. How does the money come out in this deal? Aren't the Hawks taking on more money after this swap?
  11. Can someone help me understand how Victor Torres has signed, but also tweeted out this today....?? Is it possible that FutureSox and I are both following the wrong prep Puerto-Rican baseball player named Victor Torres?
  12. Stiever, my darkhorse pick from the day he was drafted. Sheets, my darkhorse pick for 2019. ??
  13. Yep, only been with Vanessa for about a year now.
  14. He will be 100% ready for ST. He will be ready to pitch this fall if they really wanted him to, but he already said and agreed in an interview that the Sox will not want him to ramp it up at the end of the year just to shut it right back down. He agreed the best solution is just to hold off until the spring.
  15. Me too. I had tickets for the original Abreu bobblehead game. I am SO STOKED!
  16. I found this really interesting on his B-R page... "Kenny Williams Jr. is the son of Kenny Williams. He was drafted by his father in the 36th round of the 2004 amateur draft but did not sign. After limited time at the University of Arizona, he transferred to Wichita State for his junior year, but was declared academically ineligible. In the 2007 amateur draft, the Colorado Rockies took him in the 32nd round. He returned to Wichita State and hit .317/.385/.447 in 2008. He was drafted by his father's Chicago White Sox in the 6th round but his father did not want to pick him due to the added pressure of playing in the organization he was GM for. The team's scouts, led by director Doug Laumann, pushed hard for Williams Jr. and the choice was made."
  17. Easily. Backseats are not small at all.
  18. I really wanted Pavin Smith or Adam Haseley. Once it actually got to the Sox pick, I wanted David Peterson or Alex Faedo. Peterson is doing alright. Faedo is having a pretty sexy 2019 in AA right now. Even though I knew nothing about Burger prior to the selection, I still like his offensive profile. Just sucks he's been so damn unlucky with injuries so far.
  19. Nah, he doesn't sell out for home-runs. Dude sucks.
