  1. Do you promise not to hang out in the draft thread on June 3rd and just shit all over whoever the Sox take considering there is about an 80% chance it's not Adley?
  2. It would remind me of the Carlos Rodon stuff where Rodon was supposed to be the #1 pick for like 10 months out of the draft cycle, and then towards the end Kolek and Aiken jumped him. Rodon lost his consensus #1 spot sometime in April though, so this would be even later in the game for Adley to suddenly fall to #3 like Rodon did. I particularly like this mock write-up from SB Nation in March of 2014.... "1. Houston Astros: Carlos Rodon, LHP, N.C. State Rodon is still the consensus #1 overall pick but this isn't a slam dunk. There is a non-zero chance that someone else goes 1st overall but it is pretty close to 0%." They had the Sox taking SS Jake Gatewood, who is currently flaming out in AA right now. FG has him a 70/80 raw power. Yowza.
  3. I watched him play in the CWS the year we drafted him. I'm 99% sure it's Sk-OWg like you said. "cow" is the middle sound. EDIT: Or his former teammate could just confirm it here.
  4. Yup. Jameson and Hoese were guys I started following earlier in the season hoping they would play their ways in to discussion at #45. And now both have seemingly increased their values so much that neither of them is likely to be there by the 2nd RD at all.
  5. Every sport, every level, the home team is always listed second. I have to repeat this to my mom and all other female family members in my life. ?
  6. Watch Adolfo turn in to Jose Martinez at some point. Martinez was in the system for 7 years, never made it past AA, then we let him go and he bounces around a couple of times for other teams in AA and AAA and then finally makes the majors in his late 20s and becomes a highly productive offensive player. Now a career .313 hitter with a 139 wRC+ in 311 career games.
  7. Based on what? Do we have Trackman data for this?
  8. Isn't Paulo the first ever Brazilian born player to make the MLB? Or was that Andre Rienzo? Or maybe both for each type of player?
  9. I understand there are more that go in to their scouting grades than actual numbers, but they both play in the same conference and Rutschman's numbers are vastly better than Vaughn's, so what things are contributing to Vaughn being considered the far superior hitter? Just that it's assumed he's playing below his capabilities and Adley is playing above his own right now? Or the line-ups around each guy? Keith Law seems to think Vaughn is a way better hitter, but why?
  10. Yup, this where I'm at. I want Adley, Vaughn, and then Witt, in that order, but any of the 3 and I'm happy.
  11. Getting close to the finish line for ordering my Model 3. I just completing buying a home a couple of weeks ago, so I have the green light to buy the car, I'm just waiting closer to the end of the quarter to see if Elon decides to spice up the offer to boost Q2 numbers, especially after Q1 had such terrible numbers relatively speaking. In the time I've been waiting, the MR battery (the middle option) went away. That really put me in a bad mood for a while about everything because it meant I had to decide to spend $6K more on the LR RWD battery, or spend $2K less on the SR+ battery, but lose out on the premium interior and 20 miles of range. The range wasn't any issue, but losing out on the highest audio package which included a subwoofer, and losing internet streaming music was a bummer for me. I hemmed and hawed about trying to push myself to spend more and more. But then not only did the price of Full Self Driving go up $1K, but they also removed the LR RWD option as well, which then pushed me to have to go up another $2K. So now the different between LR AWD (Most expensive Model 3) and the SR+, is $10K. And for $10K, I have decided I can deal with a lesser audio experience (still the best I will ever have in a car by far), and will just have to use my phone's bluetooth for streaming music or TuneIn radio. I'll use $1000 or so in savings to get the windows tinted, a protective paint wrap or spray, a second charging cable to take with me at all times, nice floor mats, automatic struts for the frunk, and other add-ons I can do to the car. Still looking at almost $52K for the car after taxes and destination fees. Still scares the hell out of me. But luckily I've been saving for about 41 months now and my car payments will be under $300 with a 60-month loan, about $250 if I make it 72 months instead. Bought a house, about to get my dream car, likely getting engaged by the end of the year. Pretty exciting and stressful times for me right now. lol
  12. Just seeing the phrase "concurrent surgeries" at the end of that article made me squirm. Who would ever think that's ok? Especially when it's something that could result in spinal cord damage.
  13. He definitely did not make that kick, but it still looked about 70 yards or so, which is still awesome obviously.
  14. Yeah, could certainly be the distraction they needed to try to show how pious they are by taking a tough stand against racism, despite it being overwhelming obvious that it was the circle game. Also, once this story came out, I'm assuming by a white supremacist who saw it as a golden chance to get exposure for their cause by co-opting this harmless game for their own publicity, the can of worms was already opened and the Cubs likely felt boxed in to just tell everyone that this guy was racist and deserving of the ban not only to save their own face, but to look like social justice heroes.
  15. I've seen the upright OK sign mentioned before, but I've never seen anyone give them the power to take away the circle game as well. This is so ridiculous. Also banned from Wrigley Field effectively immediately are Reece, Malcolm, and Stevie.
  16. Walker walked in his 4th PA.
  17. 'Twas not I. But he's listed at 6 foot, which obviously isn't big, but that doesn't scream "super tiny" to me. Stroman is only 5'7".
  18. Hoese up to #29? Damn. I need him to suck down the stretch here. lol
  19. I tweeted out after his last start that his days in Kanny were numbered. This start tonight obviously reinforces that. Can't imagine he could have any more than 2-3 more starts at the MOST if he's this good onward.
  20. Drey Jameson update.... 8 IP, 2 R, 2 BB, 16 K. 73 IP, 24 BB, 120 K
  21. To clarify what Blaze posted, WSDave said "I think they are going to draft Hunter Bishop out of ASU...I think they are going to way under slot and then draft this pitcher who is lighting the world on fire from Crystal Lake Central High School". Said maybe they will offer $5M to Bishop and then throw the rest at Priester. Slot value at #3 overall is $7,221,200. Slot at #45 is $1,650,200. Assuming they do $5M for Bishop and just slide that money over, that's about $3.9M for Priester, which is #15 overall slot value.
  22. He was more than that, he was a top 4 pick in a lot of the mocks I saw over the winter.
  23. I was coming here to say the exact same thing. With the Dbacks having about every 5th pick in the draft, it's going to be really hard for teams to roll the dice on that strategy, especially the Sox who have 42 picks between selections.
  24. I guess with the amount of hype and non-stop talk about the show I am expecting something on the level of Breaking Bad, and it's definitely not. But that's fine, because it's clearly entertaining enough, and even I'm invested on how it ends now, but I guess my expectations of WHY people love the show were off.
