Well I don't know about you, but I was only 16-17 years old during the 2007 baseball season, so thinking Jerry Owens was going to be a stud doesn't really surprise me for that age.

For whatever reason, I remember where I was when Owens went 5 for his first 5 against the Twins in 2007. I was out with a big group and the game was on TV at the pizza place and I remember thinking this dude was going to be a god damn stud.

Yeah, I think he was projected for somewhere in the late 1st RD. But he was also projected to be like a 2nd or 3rd RD pick in the NFL, not a Heisman winner and top 10 NFL pick.

I just took a peak at good old Jerry's numbers. In 2007 he only played a little over half a season, and he stole 32 bases. Pretty impressive. And his career 16% K-rate would be considered elite now. Jerry was just ahead of his time.

It's not a playoff team with Machado and Pollock, but it's a lineup that I would be comfortable going in to the playoffs with. Would need 2 good starters in the rotation though.

I wouldn't say insanely good, but probably good enough to be a playoff team. Just need a rotation to go with it at that point.

It's what I'm afraid of. I'm hoping for an opt out after 5 years, but as long as it's nothing before the end of year 4, I'll be ok. 3 would be a disaster.
