  1. Correct doesn't make sense to move his very team friendly contract to save money.
  2. The dude has a disgusting slider and sinking FB, both of which can be seen in the clip above.
  3. Not only is Lindgren's nickname "The Strikeout Factory", but I enjoyed this little blurb about how the Braves acquired him after his METEORIC rise through the Yankees system.... "He had Tommy John surgery in August 2016 and the Braves lured him away from the Yankees with a major-league contract offer just before the 2016 Winter Meetings, right after the Yankees made him a non-tendered free agent with the intention of re-signing Lindgren to a minor league deal. The move by former Braves general manager John Coppolella incensed Yankees officials, including general manager Brian Cashman. The Braves agreed to pay him about $1 million in 2017, including a small signing bonus." He's somehow only pitched in 54 minor league innings across all 5 levels of the minor leagues, but has a 14.2 K/9. The downside to that is his 5.3 BB/9. Only 28 H and 0 HR though. He seems to be a guy that no one wants to swing at, so they either take their walks, or they take their strikeout. Could obviously be deadly if we can fix his control. Not sure if he will still bring the mid-90s velo, but I imagine he should be in AA or AAA for us by the summer.
  4. If the Bears win tomorrow, I'll take you up on that wager.
  5. Cowboys baby!!!! I was hoping the Bears would lose tomorrow, so I don't have to hear it on the radio 24/7, but if the Bears win, then I still have a chance at Rams vs Cowboys for the NFC title and a promise of one of my teams in the Super Bowl. So.....go Bears, I suppose.
  6. I want real, actual penalities for Luxury tax. Make it if you go over, you lose your 4th RD pick. And then if you go $10M over you also lose your 3rd RD pick. Next $10M you also lose your 2nd RD, and then next $10M you lose your 1st RD pick. So for any team that goes $30M over, you've now lost your first 4 picks. Any dollar after that has a 50% tax.
  7. With the Yankees signing Britton to 3 years, I am hoping that gives them even less money to offer Manny. I'm taking this as good news for us.
  8. Good God, does anyone know how to ignore members on mobile? I'll run to the nearest Kinko's and pay $1.99 a minute if I have to.
  9. Should have signed to a no-cut clause. Damnit, Tulo.
  10. Yeah that's a good point, I could just put him on ignore.
  11. If we all just stop engaging Peavy44 and replying to his nonsense, we can probably reduce the length of these threads by like 30% or so.
  12. ...and that's what you've decided to get out of that post..... ?
  13. Unless it includes opt outs that other teams aren't willing to offer, or not offer as soon. Fangraphs at some point did an article assigning dollar value to opt outs. I'm sure it's case by case basis, but it's possible 7 yrs/$200M with opt outs after 3rd and 4th year is more valuable than a 7 yr/$230M deal with only one opt out after a 5th year. And even if two teams offer different deals in terms of length and money, but have the same opt out year, one team could stack the AAV very high before the 1st opt out, and you would assume the player would believe in themselves enough to think that they would take that 1st opt out available, you might be talking 3 yrs/$100M from one team, or 3 yrs/$140M from another team, despite the first team offering a total of 10 years and the other team offering a total of 7 years. It's nuances like that which are hard to flat out say deal A is better than deal B.
  14. No, I think that was a fake tweet where the guy eventually admitted that he was just fucking around.
  15. The Quintana thing doesn't make sense to me. He is still surplus value due to his cheap contract, and the Cubs shouldn't be getting rid of pitching help. The rest of those names I buy, as ways to facilitate a Heyward deal.
  16. Ok, so BuehrleWood hasn't logged back in yet and the girlfriend wants to watch a movie, so fuck it. My guy told me that Kelvin Herrera is coming to Chicago tomorrow to meet with the Sox. No idea if it's to sign, or just informational, or maybe he really likes Gibson's Steakhouse. ?
  17. David Vassegh was right, YOU'RE ALL ANIMALS!! LOL just kidding. If BW doesn't reply, I'll come back to this thread tonight to share what I got. Calm down, we're all rooting for the same team here.
  18. Do you not understand how one piece of information coming to fruition can establish credibility for another piece of information from the same source? Some people don't believe the Machado info from 2 weeks ago. This is the same source, so if this move comes true, it may make them realize that my source has aconnection. Calm down and wait for BW to get back to me, or ignore this thread. It's a simple equation.
  19. Saying he is expecting a move to be made and saying a senior FO person was called away to finalize something are two different pieces of information. He knew both, he only divulged one at a time.
  20. You kidding? It's 1 page back, he had more info that he JUST NOW shared.
