You are absolutely kidding yourself if you think Theo and Jed are the only ones in the loop for major moves with the team.
-
Yeah, I mean at the very least they are talking to their scouting department and cross checkers about players from the Giants or whomever are involved in these talks. Trades don't happen with only 1 or 2 guys in the front office knowing about it.
-
How does anyone? Just because he's a beat reporter doesn't mean he can't get random sources like the the rest of us can.
-
I think you were.
-
Why? They added $3M in payroll with that deal, I don't want to detail this thread, but that trade made 0 SENSE for the Reds, unless Bailey was some huge clubhouse cancer.

The Giants have very good reason to want Harper to go to the Cubs. It behooves then to help facilitate this. That might be a factor.
-
I haven't seen anything to suggest Robert can't play CF.
-
Another shitty thing to consider is that if Harper is making it to obvious that he wants to go to the Cubs, then there is a chance he signs some sort of sweetheart deal as well. Boras has no leverage if Harper is telegraphing this so poorly. There is a very high chance the Cubs don't get him for cheaper than the Sox or anyone else is willing to offer. Must be nice.

How is Theo this dumb to think hes willing to dismantle what is currently working for them only to ignore their biggest weakness? Why not sign Corbin and then move these pieces?
-
Did anyone have an answer for how much would count against their luxury tax if they Cubs ate, let's say, $80M in this deal? Does that entire $80M count against their luxury tax in 2019, or is it spread out evenly over the course of his contract?

Bandersnatch wasn't "great" per say, but it was really interesting because of the "choose your own adventure" interaction. I spend about 4+ hours today with my girlfriend trying all the different endings and scenarios.

According to an LA Times reporter, Grandal turned down 4 yrs/$60M from the Mets, so they changed course and signed Ramos. https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/la-sp-dodgers-whats-next-20181228-story.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Official NHL COVID season thread

I haven't been able to watch a game in a while. How has Delia looked in net? -
Yup. Hopefully when I see him we are celebrating the Sox getting a whale for once!

We also haven't heard when Manny arrived in NY, or when he left Philly. Both would be things of note. My source didn't confirm he stayed until Wednesday, but that was his plan as of Monday. It's possible they decided to leave Tuesday night instead, I have no idea and I haven't heard anything one way or the other, outside of the random bartender. I'll ask my guy for clarity, but he's gone completely dark since the first bit of info, so he's either upset that it has gotten out there, or he's been told to stop talking. I'll be seeing him in person in the coming weeks, so maybe I can get an answer by then. Hopefully Manny will have signed anyway.
-
True, but we already know they are family and hang out a lot. Just hope Alonso has got his ear as well.

Just another random piece of possibly useless social media to report.... On his IG story today, Kopech referred to a #34 chain that his girlfriend got him as his "Debut number". I thought that was kind of interesting instead of my just saying "my number". He seems to he hinting that he realizes it may not be his number anymore.

We heard an unnamed bartender say Machado was at O'Hare on Tuesday. Not really hard proof. And I haven't heard anything about Abreu's whereabouts during that time, but lay it on me.
-
You're right that no reports came out about that, but what's funny is that someone who is considered an insider on this board, who I won't name, corroborated the same info that he heard from a separate source. But I doubt we will ever get confirmation either way.

I don't understand why some of you are so down on the Sox chances. I know this isn't the Machado thread, but he had a great meeting with the Sox and was willing to sign at that time. Just because the other 2 meetings may have also gone well doesn't mean he has no interest in coming here anymore, it just may mean he's willing to go to whoever offers him the most. I think our chances of getting Manny are totally on the Sox offering more than the Phillies (I think the Yankees are going to play the discount game like they did with Corbin).
