  1. Yeah, I have no idea how that side of it works. At some point you need final offers.
  2. The agent was pushing to fulfill these other 2 meetings, but it's not JUST for the agents behalf because what if NY or Philly suddenly outbid the Sox? I am willing to guess if he was wanting to sign today, it means the Sox either met their asking price, or are the highest bidder. That can obviously change with these next 2 meetings.
  3. His next meeting isn't until Wednesday in NY. So his choices were to either stay here until Wednesday, or go to NY early. He isn't going to go home to Miami for 1 day and then go to NY the next day. It's good news that he is choosing to spend his extra day here and not in NY.
  4. True, but being the 1st team to meet with him, and have him in the city for 3 days gives is a chance for him to daydream about playing for us and for our guys to reach out him and show him a good time.
  5. I'd dead serious. I would imagine if it's true about then taking the other 2 meetings only out of respect and for his agents benefit, then I would just guess he could sign as early as Friday or Saturday.
  6. I have no idea if it's still going on or not, I didn't ask. I do know some of the spots they took him to, but I won't go in to any more detail, but it's places you would assume.
  7. He's staying in Chicago until Wednesday. Hoping some Sox players take him and Alonso out to some cool spots.
  8. I can confirm this. My source says Manny's agent was pushing to fulfill their meetings with NY and Philly this week, out of respect for their teams and keeping a relationship for his agent, but seems like Manny was wanting to sign today. I have never been more confident in the Sox signing either of these guys than I am now after talking with my source. Yankees and Phillies meetings could obviously change that if they slam dunk it, but I think it's happening you guys.
  9. He was on Dax Shepards' "Armchair Expert" podcast, which I love, a month or two ago to promote this new show.
  10. Conan just got a podcast recently. It's like 4 or 5 episodes deep, but it's good, I've always loved his sense of humor. Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend is the title.
  11. That's what I'm screaming. There is no way the Sox did this without thinking it will have a pretty significant impact. Like you said, it's not like they haven't talked. I'm sure one side or the other brought up Alonso at some point and the White Sox got the deal done to show how serious they are about making Manny happy. But, as others have said, this may also mean the Sox are feeling less confident about Harper if they are willing to lose Alex Call and add a decent chunk of change and help out a rival.
  12. Welp, hope you went against everything you said and went with Jackson and Williams. Jackson had a nice game for me. Mahomes did alright for me. Unfortunately the guy I played had Rivers and he got him like 9 points there in that final drive. But, I went from a projected 18 point loss to a projected 6 point loss, so I made up ground. I had dropped Damien Williams last week when the Chiefs signed West, so that sucks to see him on another team in the championship game, while I am fighting for 3rd place.
  13. Which just means that they are serious contenders on both, which means they should have a great shot to get one of them. What's not to love about that?
  14. Lol, I'm still watching it, but at the 34 minute-ish mark, A-Rod puts his hand on Giolito and calls him "Michael". Lol Kopech gave Flaherty a weird look.
  15. Not to entertain this dumb comparison, but I trust Machado having a higher WAR over the next 10 years than Harper. He has a certain defensive floor built in to his value. Harper's most recently has been very bad.
