  1. Isn't that how the waiver claims work? Don't you claim them straight to your 40-man? Or no. Honestly not sure, just seems weird to claim him and then expose him, unless they are betting on him not making it on a major league roster all season, and thus being returned to them.
  2. I really was hoping the Sox could turn Clarkin around, he was the Yankees 1st RD pick the same year they took Judge, but he was a DUMPSTER FIRE in AA for the Sox.
  3. Holy fucking scoring. This Rams defense better get their shit together soon, but it's nice to know that Todd Gurley can be completely excluded from the game plan, and this offense can still score 50+ points.
  4. Accepted the offer today. WR Brandin Cooks and TE Rob Gronkowski for RB James White, RB Nick Chubb, TE David Njoku My new starting line-up.... 12 team, 0.5 PPR QB - Mahomes (1) RB - White (8) RB - Chubb (19) WR - Brown (5) WR - Evans (9) TE - NJoku (10) FLEX - Collins (24) DST - Bears (1) K - Lutz (1) Bench - RB Freeman, RB Thompson, RB Yeldon, RB Bibbs, QB Flacco, TE Seals-Jones, WR Goodwin
  5. I believe it's complacency more than anything else, like you said. What is dumb, but possible, is that a guy like Q could leave for 5-6 years and then come back and be great with the team again, because of the decent amount of turnover between those times.
  6. Speaking of Bohm, he somehow hit 0 HR in 40 pro games last year, and only 8 XBH. Dude must have been super worn out after college ball.
  7. I say it's crazy because he created a niche project that he did almost just to be a contrarian, and it actually landed him a job. Maybe fascinating is more accurate.
  8. I'm just apprehensive about White because Sony Michel and Gronk are both healthy now. That will reduce White's carries and his receptions. And with Kupp out for the year, Cooks will likely see a rise in his targets now. I think maybe I'll use the next two days to push for him to throw in Njoku as a backup for Seals-Jones (just dropped MacDonald and picked up RSJ a few minutes ago), and if he won't throw in Njoku (He will have Gronk and Heuerman still), then maybe I just take the deal as is. I guess this trade really hinges on Gronk's health. If he gets hurt again, I feel like this was a slam dunk. If he's healthy the rest of the way, then I might be kicking myself.
  9. That's crazy. He used to get mocked on the Fangraphs Audio podcasts by Dave Cameron all the time for that Fringe Five, and just generally falling in love with fringe prospects. Max Shrock is the most recent one I can recall him bringing up all the time.
  10. Need some help on a trade offer...... 12-team, 0.5 PPR, ESPN league. I trade away...... Gronk and Brandin Cooks I receive..... James White and Nick Chubb. The reason I am considering this is because I my RBs are trash. Alex Collins is my #1. And the reason I am willing to part with Cooks is because I have Antonio Brown and Mike Evans still. I am going to have to replace Gronk with Vance MacDonald, which is a clear downgrade, but Gronk can literally get hurt at any moment. The one reason I am sitting on this trade is because White and Chubb are both bench players for him right now. He also has McCaffrey, Aaron Jones, Lamar Miller, and LeSean McCoy. So I feel like he is just trading spare parts and he will upgrade his TE and WR position. I kind of want to make him bleed out more than that. Should I ask him to throw in Njoku? Or Funchess? Or Corey Davis?
  11. Among his historic Fringe Five lists..... Mookie Betts, Jose Ramirez, Danny Salazar, Maikel Franco, Marcus Semien, Austin Barnes, and Wilmer Flores. Two legit MVP candidates right there, and a few other all-star types. Good news for us Sox fans is that I believe Danny Mendick has made a few appearances.
  12. Is that really what got him a job, his Fringe Five list? I do remember Mookie Betts being a big Cistulli guy when no one else was on Betts.
  13. Almost all of them do. I kind of wish these comp picks were based on like a "Last 5 years attendance". Because while teams can certainly tank for draft picks, they aren't going to want to sabotage attendance for draft picks, as that immediately affects their bottom line.
  14. To be "fair" that awful tweet also left our Barry Bonds and Albert Pujols and a handful of other guys. The comments on that tweet are FULL of omissions. Really just an awful tweet for someone who claims to be a researcher.
  15. Would take more than Cease. At least 1 or 2 other guys.
  16. I'm ok with adding TWO more years to Abreu, but not 3. 2 yrs/$32M extension. So he will be making $16M each of his last 3 years with the Sox. Then by that time one Collins, Sheets, Burger should all be more than ready to take the position full time.
  17. I was initially ready to roast this for thinking the Braves would give up anything of value for Avi, but then I realized that Teheran has only been a 1.1 and a 0.7 fWAR over the last 2 seasons, while making $11M and $12M over his final 2 years in 2019 and 2020. He's had a few seasons of REALLY GOOD control numbers, and then some awful ones recently. I guess this would be a decent chance for the Sox to try to salvage his arm and possibly flip him in July, especially if Cease or Dunning are ready, or even next winter. The monetary cost shouldn't be much of anything, especially if we can get the Braves to even toss in $3M to cover the difference from Avi to Teheran. This really would be a decent chance for the Braves to make a salary dump. Hell, they could even non-tender Avi if they really wanted to just save money and use that $11M on someone like Carlos Gonzalez until Pache is ready to be promoted to the OF.
  18. But I still can't stomach the idea of a mega contract ending in an odd number (other than 5). Evens all day.
  19. My point wasn't that I didn't believe you may have proposed a Sox/Cubs trade, my point is that the idea of the Sox and Cubs ever making a blockbuster move was OVERWHELMINGLY considered off-limits or unrealistic. And yet, it happened. So just because a lot of people are ready to say a prospect-for-prospect trade rarely happens, ALSO does not mean it's not a possibility or something that Rick Hahn should explore.
  20. If we were actually a playoff team, that would probably be a pretty realistic trade. Obviously 2 years of Trout doesn't fit the time frame though.
  21. I said 11 yrs/$424M in my Offseason Plan, which is terrifying to think about, but I think the Sox need to pay a tax over other offers because of the state of the major league roster. That pencils out to $38.5M AAV, which would be a record as far as I know.
  22. Fired employee is disgruntled? No friggin' way. Regardless of whether she is telling the truth or not, waiting until she loses her job is going to be seen with a ton of skepticism as well as some who think shes awfully cowardly to see such injustices and not do a damn thing about it until she has nothing to lose.
  23. Damn ya, really got me there. I shouldn't have capitalized "exactly". Totally roasted. Anyway, if that's true that you said it was very possible that the Sox and Cubs would make a blockbuster, despite the overwhelming narrative being that they would never, then I guess I just need to wait for you to shift your opinion on a prospect for prospect trade so it can become a feasible course of action for Rick Hahn.
